  1. Don't know if this helps but we've ridden our bikes to POR - mostly during the day time though - never tried it at night.  Maybe that would be something to try this year when we're down.  Would need to take our helmets though, which we don't usually try and make space for when we're just riding around the Fort/WL or over to POR for beignets.

We've biked quite safely all the way to OKW and on to DT on occasion.

  2. Congratulations Lou - long before I actually joined this merry band I used to read all the postings and wondered if you were ever our bus driver.  Now I'll watch and see if I can spot you taking people  around.  Would we ever get you when we do the backstage tours?

  3. Not sure -

    - we've gone every year since 1998, have driven 33 hours non-stop from Winnipeg (that's in Canada) to get there - arrived anywhere from October to December - stayed anywhere from 1 to 4 months, some years with a trip to Disneyland thrown in -  AP holders for 10 years, DVC (3 different purchases), - hubby even crazier (he's the one who decorates the bikes) - and our neighbours here at home think we're really strange because we have three "Mickey Head" lamps running up our driveway!!!!

    - so who does that make us?

  4. I have to agree with the comment above regarding when does one guest's "magical experience" get compromised by another's.  I don't think anyone, least of all Disney management has an answer.

We've been here since the beginning of December in the 1500 loop.  There truly hasn't been a day when someone hasn't come through with a dog/dogs for a walk.  We've tried to politely point out to people this isn't a pet loop - that there are signs to say pets are not to come beyond certain points but no one seems to think this applies to their special pet.  So we watch where we put our feet and try and make sure we don't track too much c@@p.

We've had more then four dogs on some sites and last weekend we had a particularly large bunch of people in spread over 7 or 8 sites who had a couple of dogs, once of which got free and chased the turkeys all over the loop.  While you have to feel sorry for the turkey it was sure fun to watch 6 people trying to run down one dog!!!! That was almost worth the loss of sleep when they kept us awake with their party.

On the other hand we had one week where there were several very noisy dogs at one site that barked all night and all day.  Several of us I think complained and someone from Disney showed up and the dogs were removed from the site.  I don't know if they went to the kennel, perhaps compliments of Disney, or if they were sent home since the owners plates were local; but at least peace and quiet were restored to our little corner of the world.

Having vented, it would still be nice if there were a clearly stated and enforced policy and if there were some loops that we could rely on being always and clearly off limits to the dogs.

  5. As someone said above - don't know what you all do for a living but you're right up there with Jack Ryan or James Bond in your investigative skills.  Not to mention your computer competency at ferreting out all this.

This could add immensely to the Fort but it will make some real changes here.  There's no way that any ordinary folks have much  influence on what Disney does.   Hopefully we will still be able to find and enjoy all the things we love about the campground even with these changes.  Given how fast they move on things we could well see this up and running by the 50th anniversary, if not the 45th.

Please someone tell me there will still be the golf cart parades, the Christmas decorations, Halloween and all the other things we value!!!!
