Our old trailer came with one of those attached to the rear frame. It was a different brand but didn't last very long due to all the road wash that hit it from the tires when it rained. The unit wasn't well sealed so water would get in an sit in the housing and rusted out the return spring.  If I were to add one to our current trailer I would look for a place that didn't allow a lot of water to hit it.

Hmmm ours has been installed for 8 years now. It works just as well today as day 1. I guess they made some improvements or some are not sealed well.

Can you show me a picture, of how you mounted it please?  Sounds like a great idea!

I don't have a pic handy right now. I mounted it under the trailer at the front. We have a 5'er. So I lean the bikes up underneath the overhang and route the cable through all of the frames. I just bolted it to a cross member.

I was reading that you should not take good bikes to the fort as bikes get stolen.  Has anyone had any experience with this.  What's the word from those who know.

Bikes do get stolen. Bring a cable lock. Biking at the Fort is a great way to get around and tour the loops.

I would highly recommend renting a scooter from a out side vendor and have it delivered to your resort. Pushing a wheelchair is a lot more work then a stroller at the parks . Plus it will give your wife more freedom. It's not very expensive.

I would if we were staying at a resort, but we are staying at her parents house just north of MK. So I can't transport a scooter around from park to park as we park hop in the truck.

Most lines are now wheelchair accessible so you would roll right on through the lines and then transfer to the ride once you get up to that point. The ones that are not a CM will direct you on where to go. Haunted Mansion for instance will bring you in through the back way once you come off the stretching room and then load you where people get off.

    Thanks for the info, Jason

  6. Can someone give me the 411 on the park policy for wheelchairs and ride access? My wife hasn't been the same since her back surgery in Jan. We're planning on a long weekend trip in 2 weeks. While she absolutely doesn't have to roll around, but if she walks we may get a half day in the parks then she will be laid up for a day or so. We're not interested in abusing the system...just need info on how most lines work for people who need to sit a lot of the time. Thanks

We got back a week ago from a Southwest 7,000 mi round trip from NJ.  We have 2015 F350 carrying Lance 4,500 lb bed camper. The the cruise control, exhaust break and tow haul features got a work out.  No only for the inclines, also the many 4%, 6% and even 1 10% declines.  Great looking F-450 you got.

Thank you...can't wait to make that trip to the southwest. I really wish we had a slide in for that trip. I've thought about buying a used one then selling it afterwards.

looking at a new camper the cherokee 274 vfk. i had a few questions. does any one have one ? how do you like it ?  my other question is about ac  do you have the standard 13.5 k or have upgrade to the 15 k or two 13.5 k ? any other info would be helpful. last trip to the fort we were looking at other campers and the v nose campers looked interesting so we looked at them and like the floor plan with the kitchen in the v

    thanks  kevin 😃

I have 1 15k AC in our toyhauler. The living area is 30', and it keeps up just fine in the florida heat

I know with my 2006 Ram (regular gas), if I set the cruise control to 58 to 60 I can get about 22 to 24 MPG on the interstate.

Once I push it past 60 I can see the mileage drop to the 17 to 18 range.

Of course this is driving in flat FL.

Yeah, speed kills mileage. I just drive what speed I want and pay the price.

I am surprised that the 450 with 4.30 gears gets the same as my 350 with 4.10's. The extra gear in the 450's transmission sure helps. They both turn about the same rpm at 75. My 350 would get 10-11 pulling our toyhauler at 65-70 mph. I am curious what the 450 will do.

That's almost 2 full 35 gallon tanks with the v10. Can't wait to hear more.

Just did a day trip to the smokies. 436 miles total today. Ran 72 to 75 on the interstate, did some 2 lanes, and a trip through the park and cades cove (lots of stop and go). Computer said an average of 16.0 mpg for the trip. I'm pretty happy with that for a truck with 4.30 gears.

  11. The bed height on trucks these days is just stupid. My 5'er rides a little lower than some, but it is way too low to ride level on the new truck. I hitched up yesterday to test it. 9" nose high with 7" bed rail clearance. Now I was installing a flat bed anyway for hauling, but if not I would have a heck of time modifying the trailer to raise it. Plus the height is already close to 13'. I just dont understand why they design it so high. I'm 5'10" and the tailgate touches my shoulder. /rant

I follow Big Truck, Big RV on you tube and he seems to love the F450 for the turning radius.  Sweet truck, enjoy!

Thanjs! Yeah, I follow him too. The turning radius is great.  Honestly, without the turning radius I would have just bought a 350. There is really not much difference between them....basically gears, 19.5 wheels, and wide track front axle.
