Who knows the purpose of these buildings?
Hint: their arrangement in relation to each other is critical.....

Some good info there, but it doesn't say where the CC plant was located. So, my snooping was a success. :clint:
That pdf says peak load is nearly 200 MW. I would have guessed a bit more than that. Looks like the plant can make just over 50 MW.

One of the things that I like to do is use Google and Bing to explore WDW. I was looking around the other day and found this cluster of homes. It appears to be well inside of the Disney property line. Is this the land that the Reedy Creek councilmen own?
Also, I guess some non Disney fanatics don't know that Disney has their own power plant. I had read that it was behind the MK. I looked around and spotted it too. I thought it was a simple combustion turbine that is fueled by natural gas. But after looking at the Bing photos it appears to be "combined cycle" plant with a combustion turbine and HRSG (heat recovering steam generator). The CT is contained within a building, but the air intake and exhaust ducting is clearly visible. The HRSG is the grey colored structure that resembles huge ducting. The mechanical draft cooling tower is just south of the plant.

TCD,
There is a stroller/wheelchair ramp at the new train station. Instead of walking up the steps you hang a hard right and the path is sort of "V" shaped. I pushed our girls up it last Thanksgiving.

Do you have anymore of this area? I would love to see an old aerial of the original rides.
-
There used to be some small tables around the magic carpet ride....maybe 3 or 4.

I was mauled by a cougar once.......
at a bar in Aspen.
BTW TCD,
That was obviously one of Disney's autonomous animatronics that they have been testing. It's a joint effort between Disney and the DOD. They will be used throughout the parks and in Afghanistan.

I think we all need to realize that the Fort that we know and have been visiting for years is about to change drastically. This DVC project will most likely impact the Fort greatly. I hope that some cool things will happen, though.....like better restaurants and more pedestrian areas along the lake.

The "golden hour" in the morning when the sun is just rising is a great time to take photographs. The quality of sunlight can make breathtaking pictures. I sometimes use the early hours to get some pictures with few people and cool lighting and color.

I have been following the ongoing debate about the monorail and bus system. After listening to advocates of both sides intently I have found a picture that, IMHO, sums up the debate nicely.
The woman with the guy is the monorail system. The other woman is the bus system.
:rofl2:

I enjoyed every bit of this TR, except for the leaving pics. Very depressing ;-)

I like it.

How about a call to slow them down. I can't keep up. :hah:

I heard from a very reliable source (my neighbor's cousin's uncle who used to go out with somebody who did the nails of the wife of a friend of a Disney custodial worker) that Disney is buying huge amounts of land in central Arkansas for a new theme park! It will be based entirely on the history of moonshine in rural America to include the links to NASCAR! OMG!
Sounds legit to me.

I believe it. Some friends of the family own a very large contracting company in the Houston area. Apparantly, they have been questioned by Disney about their capabilities, such as steel erection, concrete pouring, and man made lake construction experience.

I use an alpaca.

Btw, my wife is trying to make hoity toity tea ressies for our trip in June. What the fort? It is for our 10 year anniversary so I might oblige.
What the fort, indeed!
We spent our 10 yr at the Fort too. Honeymoon was at WL....good times.

I am pro GAG, but I would have hoofed it over to WL for a grilled chicken salad and some lobby time.
BTW, I say we all chip in $1 for that picture program. :whew:

Wow! Cool stuff, TCD.
This settles it.....the Fort was definitely a lot cooler back in the day.
-
Maybe it is just "meadow" now that the 600 loop has taken over the meadow next to the store.....leaving only the one meadow by the pool?

Yellow flies are around from March until November. Yes, they bite! No, bug spray doesn't really work, though it helps some.
We are at the fort every year for Memorial day. 2 years ago they were HORRIBLE!! You could hardly leave your rv without getting bit, Last year the fort had a lot of sticky traps set up and that helped. We only saw 1 in the 6 days we were there.
Nasty little buggers!!
We were at the Fort at that time too. You're right....the yellow flies were terrible.
Aerial photo snooping!?!?
