Sorry, I know I'm being hard-nosed, but that's just how I feel. I see too many parents catering to their kids' wishes/demands. That contributes to the erosion of family values and problems with the next generation. Thankfully our children don't treat their kids that way and our grandchildren don't have those expectations.Preach it sister!I forced the family to go to Washington D.C. A few years ago and they wanted to go on a cruise. But once I bought the plane tickets I think they realized we were going to DC. They got on boardAnd we all had a great time. Sometimes we have to pick our battles and when I realized they really wanted to go I decided it wasn't a battle I wanted to fight. One reason we're going to Tahoe instead of Colorado is so I can spend a few hours at the casinos in reno. That was my DW idea. She knows me to well and knew that would get me on board. And it worked. I usually only get to spend Christmas with my DS once every other year or so and it's usually only for a day or maybe just a few hours before I have to share him with Grandparents, aunts, uncles etc. it's going to be so awesome to spend 5 nights 6 days in a condo far away from everyone else with just my DW, DS, and DD enjoying our own family Christmas. And as for the roaring fire. The condo I'm renting comes with a fireplace and I ordered firewood. It's going to be a great family Christmas. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
