Well I guess a propane "open" flame could start a fire if someone tipped the pit over, or tried to burn something in it (marshmallows, wieners, beer cartons) but by themselves I have never seen a propane flame throw a spark.

Guess it's Disney being Disney.

Most of the responders on the Pop Up site say they use them in all kinds of campgrounds and they are the only type allowed during a burn ban.

Big Brother Mouse is looking out for us.

It might also be a liability issue where Disney is concerned about their deep pockets. With an open flame someone could accidentally or if drunk enough on purpose put an appendage into the fire. With the screen at least an attempt is made to prevent that from happening and in a lawsuit you would be able to show a reasonable attempt at preventing an accident.

We bought the below fire pit specifically for the trailer before they custom tailored the restrictions. The fire pits back in the day just needed a screen on top for the embers. We paid over $100 for this at bass pro and don't plan buying a new one to appease the CM who don't enforce more important rules

You had better watch it, or you're going to get a nastygram from a Ranger.

Those types of firepits were never permitted at the Fort.
