doodlebug....Cherie 461
Good job Rita. How long did you have to wear the halter monitor. I had to wear one for 3 days, no fun. Plus I am allergic to adhesives and ended up with raw spots where electrodes were. Hope everything goes well for you. :rofl2:We just did a 24-hour one this time, I had a 30 day event monitor about 5 years ago. What a PITA! Thanks, I appreciate your good thoughts! I have a genetic heart condition, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, that's a mouthful ain't it! Dr. Hazday in Orlando is a specialist in this condition. I'm gonna get on my :rofl2: for just a second. This condition is usually what causes young athletes to have sudden cardiac death. Please, if your child's doctor says they have "a heart murmur" find out what is causing it, it could save their life! Lobby for AED's to be placed at your child's school.Ok off my soap box and back to regularly scheduled hilarity!Well just take care of yourself. I throw extra heartbeats sometimes 2 sometimes 3. I have had so many tests including being injected with radioactive material and they still can't find a cause. Been doing it for 10 years now and hasn't killed me yet :DNow more trip report please
Roller ... aka Ed 351
I hope Runner will jump in and tell y?all about their day at AK.Passed out http://FortFiend.net cards at the bus stop; passed out more on the bus :rofl2:Made it through bag check & through the entrance. Headed to the left to hit The Safari first - 40 minute wait time, so we grabbed Fast Passes and took a stroll on Pangani Trail. Mom was delighted - the Baby Gorilla was out! She also got to see her favorites - the Neekid Mole Rats A Meerkat Scout was in plain view up high :rofl2:Finished the walk and still had about 15 minutes wait on the Fast Passes, so we took a quick bio. Back a few minutes early, but they waved us on in. Lots of "babies", but they had grown up a lot since our December trip. After that, we started heading to Flame Tree Bar-B-Que, but Mom decided her stomach couldn't handle that. After a quick discussion of what was available, I took her to the Yak & Yeti. Fried Green Bean appetizer (the best!); shared the Sweet & Sour Chicken with Chicken Fried Rice (just ok); Fried Wontons for dessert (another must have!).By then, Mom was getting tired, so we headed back to the buses and The Fort. PureTcrazy...rita 380
Wednesday is off to a great start with Pancakes and Ham! I found the Bisquick that you just add water to the container and shake, they were delicious! Christopher cooked so that made them even better! We had planned today as a ?no park? day. It was so nice to just hang out and relax. We also got this up:We used the morning to do some looping and take site pics. It was amazing that we were able to get many pics at all, the Fort was packed! Many loops did not even have 1 empty site. Me, Mama and Chris ride over to the meadows Trading Post and take some pics for the content :popo:! While there I also took these:By now it is getting close to lunch. Mama and Edward take off to MK and Chris and I fix ourselves a ham sandwich. We take off to the doctor again for the stress test. On the way back just as we get to 535, it starts storming. I mean that ?sideways rain and wind rocking the car? kind! This is just the start of some bad weather! :DWe were gonna grill hamburgers, but decided to go out to eat. Edward gets on the Disney site and we had a choice of many restaurants. This kind of surprised me because everyone is always preaching about how important it is to get your ADR?s! We decide to go to the Wave at the Contemporary. We take the car because of the rain. They have towels in a basket by the door to dry off with, which I thought was really thoughtful! We check in early and are given a pager and go wait in the blue room.We had just gotten Mama?s drink when the pager goes off. We are led into the dining room and our waitress comes, she is a sweet heart! I did not take any pics of the food, sorry. Mama and I shared the Melon Salad with prosciutto and parmesan reggiano, it was fabulous! Chris has the Ceasar Salad and Runner orders the Duck Confit salad. I believe ours was the best of the three. For entr?e?s Mama orders the appetizer Crab Cakes. She enjoyed them. Chris orders the beef tenderloin with Blue Cheese Sauce, tomato green bean salad and fingerling potatoes. Edward orders the salt-brined pork with spicy peach jam, boniato bread pudding and warm spinach salad. I ordered the Espresso BBQ Beef Short Rib with warm potato salad and cole slaw. It?s funny because all three of us liked someone else?s dish the best. I ranked the pork dish highest, Chris liked the Short Rib dish best and Edward liked the Beef Tenderloin. BTW, someone needs to teach them how to make tater salad and cole slaw! The desserts are served in trios with a choice of ?creamy,? ?American, ?Gelato? or sugar free. We chose all but the gelato. Our waitress brought us the Gelato so we could try it. That one was actually my favorite, it had Popcorn, Peanut Butter and Jelly and Rocky Road gelatos and it was fabulous! The sugar-free choices were good; cr?me brulee, and fresh fruit with vanilla panna cotta except for the chocolate mousse with raspberry coulis. The other were delicious too. Chris and Edward liked the ?creamy? selection the best! Overall, an excellent meal! :)Return to the Fort in the storm and do the regular!

Looking at my surgery within the next month or so. Almost ended up in the hospital a couple of weeks ago so I have finally agreed to have it fixed. It is very scary to think of what could have happened to me during my "active" years. Parents have those kids checked, it doesn't hurt and its a quick ECG in the office that saved my life 15 years ago. Time for me to jump from the soap box too.Now on with the TR. It is GREAT!! PureTcrazy...rita 380
Thursday is my completely free day, we were planning on going to Epcot. Of course, we woke up to Thunder, lightning and wind shaking the camper. We turn on the TV and it looks like radar you?d see during a hurricane. Needless to say, we didn?t go to Epcot. The tenters next to us are coming out and they have no way to cook, so I go over and tell them about the coming storms and invite them for breakfast. They decide to load the kids up and go somewhere. We take this opportunity to have an awesome breakfast; Grits, Eggs, Bacon and Register?s Sausage (this is the best sausage around, it is made in a small city near where we live!)Most of the day is spent monitoring the weather and walking Lola in the itty, bitty breaks in the storm.By evening time there is still rain, but we are able to grill our hamburgers. The tenters have never returned, so I start to worry again. I?m a mother I can?t help it. So it?s margaritas, cards and bed hoping that the storm will clear.I want to add that in the one picture you can see a CM whizzing by, Disney had people out during the breaks in the storm checking on people and damages. The day before when Chris and I returned from Orlando, there was a tree down just past the front entrance. These storms also put a tree down at the Meadows Trading Post, across the road to Pioneer hall and we heard one on an RV in the 700 loop.
Roller ... aka Ed 351
By now it is getting close to lunch. Mama and Edward take off to MK and Chris and I fix ourselves a ham sandwich.Golf Cart down to the Marina; Boat to MK. While we were on the boat, I told Mom we had to get a Dole Float while we were at the MK. The "Skipper" asked if we were the ones that were talking about The Dole Whips - they are his favorite! One thing led to another, and he was left with a http://fortfiends.net card in hand. (I seemed to pass out a bunch of cards to CMs while I was down at WDW this time, and they all seemed excited about it).Our main reason for the trip was to get Mom a long sleeved shirt or jacket. She was complaining of 'the cold' and Animal Kingdom didn't have anything in her size. We avoided the crowds lining up for the Parade, and headed into the Emporium. We found the perfect fit (Youth XL), and I bought it for her. She now sports the 40th Logo. Right on back to Adventureland, where I got us the Pineapple Float and a Pineapple Spear. The Float didn't survive to Casey's corner, the float went back with us to have for a snack later. On the way out, Mom wanted to get Rita a Tinker Bell Coffee Mug, and I found the perfect one! Back to the Docks and on the Boat to The Fort ...We noticed they were re-roofing The Settlement Trading Post. I never checked to see how it weathered the storms to come.Thursday was nasty ...These storms also put a tree down at the Meadows Trading Post, across the road to Pioneer hall and we heard one on an RV in the 700 loop. That's the one at The Meadows Trading Post. The storms also "ate" some awnings and tent frames.

I've never met Runner - but I do not believe anyone can out-talk The Mayor!!Except for the rain and the doctoring stuff - it sounds like a good time was had by all!! PureTcrazy...rita 380
Friday comes and it is our last full day at the Fort. It is absolutely gorgeous! :rofl2:We have a quick breakfast and it?s getting hot while I cook, this is when we discover that there is no power at Fort Wilderness. It sucked because my blow dryer doesn?t work without power! We get in the cart to take some more site pics. I have to be back at the freakin doctor at 12:30, so I do what I can with my wild hair and head back out. Mama and Edward take off to go to Epcot. We get back and Mama and Edward are at Trail?s End having lunch, but they are fixing to close. Chris and I take the boat to MK and planned on taking the monorail to a CS in one of the resorts. Of course, after waiting for about 15 minutes, they announce that they are having to wait for a tow and it would be about 10-15 minutes and we could take a boat!A lot of folks left, so we just waited and headed to the Contempo Caf? at the Contemporary when the monorail arrived..The View from the MK Monorail StationI had the Smoked Turkey Sandwich - topped with Brie, apple butter and arugala on Challah bread, it was delicious!I borrowed this picture from http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2010/11/25/disney-food-pics-of-the-week-turkey/Chris enjoyed his Angus Cheeseburger and Ceasar Salad. We take the boat back to the Fort and Mama and Edward pick us up. We were thinking about going to the pool, but it was packed tighter than a can of sardines. So we just rode a bit and explored. We came across this in one of the loopsWe head back to the site and get the steaks on the grill, make the salad and baked potatoes. A bit later Chris and I grab a margarita and head to the beach for the Electric Boat Parade and Wishes. The sound wasn't working. :rofl2: This is an example of what an awesome son I have; he knows I love the music to Wishes, so he finds it on his phone and synchronizes it with the fireworks! What a great way to end our last night at the Fort! :rofl2:

I don't know how because my Mama tried to curse me with the "I hope he is just like you!" Thankfully, he only picked up most of my good qualities and didn't go through that hellish, wild, rebelious phase!
Roller ... aka Ed 351
Mama and Edward take off to go to Epcot.Bus to EPCOT; not much of a wait for bag check & ticket scanner. New Toy Story Topiary at the front - meh; Walked on through and found Donald, Daisy, Mickey, Minnie and Pluto; Grabbed a drink and a BIG Dill Pickle in a bag - yes, they DO have them at EPCOT. It still PO's me that Mission to Mars doesn't have a single rider line! A bunch of Fairies - none of the 'manly'. Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet & Tigger. Lightning McQueen. Over to Mexico to ride the boat and cool off a little. Now Mom's hungry, but nothing at EPCOT sounds appetizing to her :D So ... back to The Fort, and we take the bus down to the Settlement and eat lunch at Trail's end. Mom gets the Fried Green Tomato, Roasted Red Pepper, Marinated Portabello, Fried Green Beans, Sweet Potato Fries veggie platter; I get the Chicken Berry Salad - both are very good! We tried to meet up with PureTCrazy and Christopher there, but they were a little too slow. They did get back in time to pick us up on the Golf Cart.
