Nice Road side parks in Louisiana and Mississippi?

I think you are referring to the Mississippi Welcome Center.  It is exit 2 in Mississippi which is the same exit for Stennis Space Center.  We stopped there for a few hours sleep on our way to the Fort back in March.

Sorry Lone-Star I don't know of any.

We try to get a little further down the road before stopping. We've slept an hour or two in the Florida rest areas but that's it.

I'm thinking of trying one of the campgrounds just inside Florida, maybe Pelican Palms or Milton KOA on the next drive.

We have done Milton many times it's a great place to over night. We stayed there back in June. We actually got there early last time so we unhooked and drove down to the beach and ate at East River Smokehouse Bar BQ.

That's great to hear, we might be stopping there in November.  We'll probably be getting there late and leaving early though.

That's how we normally do it. Most times it's about 10 when we roll in. Our reservation is in a box outside with our site #. Then we roll out before the sun is up. All sites are grass and sand. Most have a small concrete pad with a picnic table on it.

Unfortunately (or Fortunately as they were very bad) all the rest areas going east from Baton Rouge along I-12 and I-10 have been closed and torn down. I really like the ones in Florida though.

But the one at the Mississippi La. border is still there right?
