Just made reservations for 2 weeks at Anaheim RV Resort in December. Now just need to figure out how to plan our trip to Disneyland.

Surprised by extra person fees (family of 4) above the quoted rate ($800) of $84. And then the taxes carried it up and over $1,000.

2 weeks there is the same price as 1 week at the Fort.

I've heard good about it. In other Disneyland thoughts... we are in Anaheim for 2 weeks, but I'll be working and junk. We will have 2 weekends and a Tuesday to do stuff unless I take off of work. Any thoughts on the # of days of tickets or anything like that during our time there?

I would recommend a minimum of 3 days in the parks but keep in mind whatever ticket you buy must be used within 13 days of first use. Not 14 like WDW. Its a $40 difference to go to the max of 5 days and another $40 for a park hopper. So a 5 day park hopper is $315.00 for an adult

13 days shouldn't be a problem. We will get there Tuesday sometime, but we'll just setup camp and make dinner and stuff that night. And then we won't do anything the Tuesday that we leave.

Is there an Undercover Tourist for DL tickets? Or cheaper way of buying them? Since there are no FP+, I assume we can wait to buy tickets...?

Here is a link to Mousesavers section on the discounted DL tickets

While you are there you might want to try and take a day trip to San Juan Capistrano. You could also swing through Laguna Beach and see some of the coast.  If you have more time there is also San Diego but that might be pushing things. Santa Catalina Island used to be good for unique nature hiking there but these days I think you need an easily obtained permit. I use to go over to Catalina Island when down south but had access to a boat so am not sure what is available for non-boat people. I know they have transportation to the island leaving from Long Beach which is also where the Queen Mary is docked.

The plan is:

- Vegas for 2 weeks

- Back to PA/MD for 2 weeks (flying)

- Death Valley for a week

- Some beach/Los Angeles for 2 weeks (over Thanksgiving)

- Anaheim for 2 weeks

- San Diego for 2 weeks (over Christmas)

- 4-5 weeks to get to Tampa FL

So any ideas for the surrounding areas are most welcome!

I don't know about the idea of 14 nights in that "resort."

Disneyland is great.

The area around it, not so much.

I'd stay a week, and then find someplace nicer in So Cal to stay.

I assume we've stayed at less desirable places. A week at the Casino Queen RV Park was about my limit. Parking lot with stone between the sites.

The thing is- with working, I only get weekends to tourist unless I stay 2 weeks and then I might get a Tuesday.

Plus, the price isn't terrible for the area.

I didn't think about the work part.  So, I take back what I said.  If you need to stay for the two weeks to allow for four-five days in the parks, then I think you should.  Anaheim isn't awful- it's just not as nice as you would expect a place surrounding Disneyland to be.

I hear you.

Now, to add something constructive to the conversation- if your budget allows, I'd go for the 5 days passes.  There is plenty to do in those two parks. I think there are at least as many attractions, and maybe more, in those two parks as are in the four WDW parks.  The shows are spectacular and far superior to WDW's.  Don't miss the Aladdin show in DCA, or the Mickey and the Magical Map Show in Disneyland.  They also have the World of Color show in DCA, and Fantasmic and the fireworks in Disneyland.  I haven't seen it yet, but the Paint the Night parade is supposedly really good and worth seeing more than once.  With the five days, you might be able to skip the park hopper option, which isn't really necessary.

I just remembered if you have the time for additional theme parks there is Knott's Berry Farm and Magic Mountain. Knott's is usually much less crowded than the Disney parks and is much less expensive. As an 18/19 year old I much preferred it as it had more thrill rides. They also used to do some old west street fights/stunts at random in the park to keep with the Wild West theme. Magic Mountain is further away up in Valencia and is a bit different that the roller coasters take advantage of being in the coastal mountains.

Sweet. My daughter is quite the little thrill seeker, so I'll take a look at them.
