Drivers Secret Language

Recommended Posts

Next time you're on a WDW bus, if you're close to the driver, listen to the chitter chatter that might be going on between the driver and the dispatcher. How many of the secret phrases can you figure out? Some have a clue in parenthesis.

Go over to the Mouse House. (I thought they did away with Mickey's house at ToonTown, where is the Mouse House)

The Mouse House is the inside name for TTC.

Shut it down in the South Loop. (where is the South Loop located)

The South and North loops are at the MK bus depot. It's the where the buses make the turn around to get to stops #11 and up or to exit. The South Loop is used to park up to 4 buses temporarily when drivers are due for a a lunch break and there aren't any drivers to replace them, thus the term "Shut it down in the South Loop".

Shut it down in the The Right Circle. (where is the Right Circle located)

Same answer except at AK. The difference being that both the Left and Right Circles are used to store buses.

Shut it down in the Tear Drop. (where is the Tear Drop located)

The Tear Drop is located at TTC. It's the bus parking spaces located at the end closest to where the HS bus picks up. Disney buses park there when MK buses switch drivers but only if one of the drivers is going home. MK drivers can only clock out at TTC.

It means No. I even wrote NO as clue when someone responded.

Go East (let's see, which way is east)

The two bus lots at Epcot are called the East and West lots. When it's near closing time, they switch to two dispatchers, one located at each lot. When a bus returns to Epcot, they'll call in and if it's needed in the East lot, the dispatcher will tell the driver to "Go East" and get their next run there, otherwise they go West.

A funny side story on Go East. When one of my best friend drivers first worked at Epcot, when he first heard the dispatcher telling him to Go East, he thought they said Go Eat, crappy speakers, so he went on lunch break. The training never covered that sort of stuff and at first I thought the same thing except it wasn't time for lunch so I asked, WHAT.

No Mail (have you ever seen a mailbox on the bus)

The automated dispatch system sends the next route to the on-board computer. The message with the route info is referred to as Mail. If drivers don't receive their Mail, they call in and tell the dispatcher, No Mail.

Magicbus (no it's not my former screen name, it's where I stole it from)

Magicbus is any bus that operates out of MK. Animalbus is out of AK, etc, etc.

What is an "ES". (I don't like driving these. One is called Pluto.)

ES stands for "Employee Shuttle". Epcot has ES buses running behind the scenes. MK has ES buses running from the main CM lot to the tunnel and the Pluto ES bus runs from the Pluto CM lot to the opposite end of the tunnel. AK has a behind the scenes ES bus as well. No ES buses at DHS and DTD.

Take it to FIW (uh-oh, not good)

This one goes to Carol.

In addition to fuel, inspect, and wash, FIW has another function during the day. If anything goes wrong with a bus, and unless it's something serious, it's usually sent to FIW first. If it can't be fixed there, it's then sent to VM South.

At the end of the day, all buses go to FIW, but do not stay for long. The driver drops off a bus and if there are buses that have gone through FIW, that driver takes a clean bus back to the Hub that they've been driving out of.

If a bus for some reason is not brought back to the hub by a returning driver, they are brought to a hub by a team of drivers that just shuttles buses to the hubs in the middle of the night.

Buses must be at the hubs ready for the next days operation. Bus operations runs pretty much 24/7.

Float to the studios. (this doesn't require a flotation device)program, not just at H

Ed got this right. Although you're based out of a certain bus hub, you can be told to go float for a few hours, kind of a loaner S, but it could be at any of the five bus hubs, All-Star resorts, POP, or POR.

The bus assignment called "the Woods" is not something I do. What is "the Woods"? (This one should be easy for Fiends)

Ed got this right, it's the internal Fort routes.

I'm 51 to Magic.

TJ got this one right. It means, on route to.

Do a COPOFLO

MetalDad got this one and the next one too. COntemporary, POly, and Grand FLOridian.

Do COPO

MetalDad, see above.

Do all the Stars, in reverse. (doesn't require using the rear view mirrors)

Carol got this one. Pick up at all 3 All-Star resorts, but start at Movies, Music, end up at Sports.

Do a Magicpop (this is not an ice cream)

Carol got this one. MK to Pop and back.

Do Wilderness Wilderness. (should be obvious)

Carol got this one. Pick up at WL and FW.

The Red Express is running. ( guests at Epcot are disappointed when this happens)

Carol got this one. Buses are put into service when the Epcot to TTC MR is down.

The Gold Express is running. (guests staying at a MK resort don't like hearing this)

Carol got this one. Buses are put into service when the MK Resorts MR down.

Pop-animal ( there is no animal abuse going on here)

Carol got this one. Pick up at Pop and return to AK

I'm 10-8, ( usually followed by a location)

Rob got this one. It stands for In Service.

10-9 please! (this happens because of the cheap speakers)

Rob got this right. It means repeat the message.

I'm 10-8 from a quick 10-7 (feeling much better now)

Rob and Carol share the credit for this one. In Service after a restroom break.

Signal V, (you don't want to be on the bus when the driver calls this in)

Genia got this right. Someone threw up on the bus.

Take your 10-81 and let me know when you're 10-8. (drivers like hearing this)

Rob got this one. 10-81 is meal break and 10-8 stands for In Service.

10-4 (everyone should know this.)

Carol got this. It's stands for affirm.

Deadhead to (followed by a resort name and no it's not a Grateful Dead fan.)

Carol got this right. Head straight for the resort and don't pick up at the park.

I'll be taking a Quick 10-7 (quick is right)

Carol got this right. It's a restroom break.

Take it to VM South ( even worse than FIW)

Carol again. Vehicle Maintenance South is where maintenance is done on the buses

You got 10-81 right, but need the second part.

Carol's response to 10-8 was not correct.

10-8: In service and ready to go.

10-81: Back in service after the break.

That's signal V, as in the letter V.

The bus driver is a virgin. All female passengers are warned to take protective measures.

Either that, or someone just ralphed on the bus.

Do a COPOFLO

Do COPO

Is this the Disney version of the Hokey Pokey? You know that Disney would never steal anything, so they rewrote it probably.

Put your COPO on, turn your COPOFLO off......

And who is FLO?

I'm surprised that these two haven't been guessed yet.

You're going to say, of course, when someone comes up with it.
