In early May, we released two new Dooney & Bourke collections at Disneyland Resort during a special release party at Disney Vault 28. I have some good news for guests who couldn’t attend that party. Mark your calendars for July 14, as we will be releasing two new collections at TrendD in the Downtown Disney Marketplace at Walt Disney World Resort. Similar to that May event in California, we have invited Ian Ray, creative director for Dooney & Bourke, and Disney Design Group artist Susan Foy to join us for the party. I asked Laura Caszatt, Product Developer for accessories, about these new items.

“We are excited to add these new collections to our popular Dooney & Bourke line,” said Laura. “We are releasing a retro print for Walt Disney World Resort and a pattern featuring Disney character charms. The response from guests continues to amaze me, so I’m hopeful people will like these fun, new designs.”

Like the retro print for Disneyland Resort, the artwork for the Walt Disney World Resort pattern was created by Susan Foy. She showed me the original artwork, and I was impressed with the intricate details. I could tell that she spent a lot of time with the artwork, especially when looking at Cinderella Castle.

There will be a variety of styles released for the retro print including a new tassel bag, satchel, cross-body letter carrier, barrel bag, wristlet and, my favorite, the tablet case. Retails will range from $85-$285 depending on style.

The charm pattern, designed by artist Courtney Williams, will be made with a black and a white background. The black background pattern will see a pocket tote, satchel, wristlet and tablet case; while the white background will have a letter carrier, wristlet and barrel bag.

Finally, Laura shared with me something in development – a nylon version of the classic sketch print. She said that a frequently requested backpack will be released, along with a satchel, letter carrier and pocket satchel. At time of press, Laura was hoping to have the nylon items available for the release party, but she cautioned they may arrive afterward.

TrenD will open at 9:30 a.m. on July 14. The meet and greet opportunity with Ian and Susan will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. I hope to see you there!

I'm a "buys one purse every 5 years" kinda gal. I'll use it until it literally starts falling apart and then I agonize over finding another one I can bear toting around every day. I had one I really loved last year that I though would last a long time, and then it took a ride out on the highway in our accident. It held together well, but got a serious case of road rash.

I finally broke down last November and bought one of the 40th anniversary D&Bs. I love it and use it pretty much every day! Aside from the "cool Disney factor" they're made really well and it will probably be the last purse I ever buy. :rofl2:

We are putting the finishing touches on the release party for new Dooney & Bourke items being released tomorrow, Saturday, July 14, at TrenD in Downtown Disney Marketplace at Walt Disney World Resort. I recently learned there will be a unique opportunity for guests who are attending this event. I spoke with Laura Caszatt, product developer for accessories, about what to expect.

“For the first time ever, we will be offering about 50 unproduced items for sale,” said Laura. “These items contain never-before-seen colors and trims. During the development process, we received these bags for review, and for various reasons, we decided not to produce them. The release party seemed like the perfect opportunity for fans of Dooney & Bourke to add a unique bag to their collection.”

The bags will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. There will be a limit of one bag per guest. Retails for the unique bags will vary from $85 to $350 (no discounts offered), and we will feature a variety of styles, including wristlets, cross body bags, barrel bags, and more. One of Laura’s favorite items is the large “sketch pattern” tote in purple (pictured above).

As a reminder, guests can meet Dooney & Bourke Creative Director Ian Ray and Disney Design Group Artist Susan Foy from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Laura said there will be another surprise guest joining the party early in the morning.

“We are excited to introduce the world to our newest fashion diva,” continued Laura. “We think guests will love her, so be sure to dress to impress.”

oooo ahhhh, I'm liking that purple one too. Odd, I have just discovered a change of plans for tomorrow morning that requires my attendance at DTD instead of AK...

Enjoyed the sale this morning and took pictures for our queen of content too. Starla and I are both the proud owners of one-of-a-kind dooney souvies courtesy of DM. Oddly enough my favorite dooney bag was free - the extra little disney dooney credit card sized purse keychain gift w/purchase. It's too cute!

Boy I sure wish I had a favorite relative who was a CM or had a deluxe AP with us this morning. OTOH maybe it's better that I didn't. The temptation might have been too great to overspend. I'm waiting until I dig up some sort of discount to buy myself a larger nylon sketch bag if they don't sell out by then...
