Instead of keeping kids interacting with the world around them let's give them another way to bury themselves in their phones. All while collecting more data from them. I wonder how long it will be before Disney will create a 3D ride app and WDW branded VR phone holders? For the cost daily admission just strap the thing on and you are immersed in the ride with no lines.

I agree. My kids don't have phones and just have to wait the old fashion way. People watching is much more entertaining and long wait times mean snack time for my young ones.

One article I read on the subject, talked about the back ups in lines because people want a chance to play with all the stuff. People's faces in their phones is not going to change that.

It it my understanding that Disney is going to replace this with a game you download on your phone. Your phone will then interact with elements around the queue. The app is not ready yet.

It always grosses me out seeing how many people, especially little kids, are touching all over the gems.

  3. Man you guys are good. So I asked her this morning if they have her gift cards in return for not cleaning the room. She answered yes. They each, mom and her room mate, received $60 total. Mom then what are you complaining about!?!

I didn't verify the map price but I am certain, because they were at Epcot, that is was the Remy map she saw. If Disney started charging for maps that would be a big announcement. I do see a day when maps will no longer be provided and everything will be found using your phone.

  4. My mom sent me this text today.

"Went to Epcot today. Hollywood studios tomorrow. There is so much construction going on. Interesting how Disney is starting to make you pay for everything. Parking. If I want my room cleaned I have to pay 10.00. They will give me towels and take out the trash after I bag it. If you want to get a map of the parks, the one I saw at Epcot cost 4.99. Unbelievable. Things are changing. Very hot. Heat index, is 105"

I knew about parking but was surprised by everything else. Can anyone confirm?

  5. For those interested, Mickey Views on YouTube has posted a video discussing plans for the new River Country Resort. I can't figure out how to link to the channel. If your interested, search for Mickey Views on YouTube. Once on his channel, go to Videos and scroll down. He posted the video 3 months ago.

I personally am hoping Disney does this right and maintains the unique features of the Fort and Wilderness Lodge. It will be a very tight squeeze for sure. I am concerned about the influx of people into the Fort area. Right now the Fort takes a bit to get to. With a new 1,300 plus room resort being added, I see events like the campfire being too crowded and Halloween trick or treating being 10x as bad. Christmas time will be crazy and golf carts from Disney may be difficult to obtain. We're talking 5000 plus people just a door step away. Will they restrict cars from passing through?

On a positive note maybe, since the resorts will be touching neighbors, Fort people will be allowed access to the pools and possible exercise room. Goodness knows they will be allowed to take advantage of Fort stuff. Another quick service restaurant would be nice. Another nice feature is for those who camp with extended family at other resorts. This is a great option for grandma and grandpa, close and easy to get to. I guess it doesn't matter now because starting next year they are moving forward with plans. Again, my hope is Disney does it right and the end result is a beautiful addition to the Fort.

  6. We again were on our way to Florida. As we were traveling through TN, "stupid google" said there was an accident up ahead and we should divert our current path. My husband looked at the suggested route and said it would save us possible hours. It looked like an easy route so we took the chance, along with 20 or more other cars. The route took us through a small town where a bunch of good o boys were standing around a few diesel trucks with Confederate flags waving above them. Now our new camper came equipped with an awesome new horn that plays Dixie Land. With a grin I told my family to watch this. I pressed the horn and Dixie Land was blasted loud and clear for all to hear. Those boys came jumping off their trucks screaming and cheering. My kids were cracking up.

Ours wasn't treacherous, just funny.  It was a few years ago and we were using our gps. We were in New Orleans and trying to get to Chalmette Battlefield National Park. We'd gone the wrong way because of traffic or something and were having our usual arguments about directions, whose fault it was, the boys were of course bored and wanted to get out of the car, etc. Finally the gps said the park was only a mile or so away.  We followed the turns and came to the Mississippi River and a sign for a ferry!  The park was on the other side. And so was the ferry at that point.

The gps had names for the voices and the one we used was called Michelle and one of my sons had nicknamed "her" Shelly.   So we had a lot to say to Shelly about that one. Although it was sort of cool to cross the river that way.

Oh my word lol. Was the ferry expensive? Yes the directions fights Ha!

  8. Last year we planned to spend a few days at the beach before checking into the Fort. We stayed at a place called Coral Sands RV resort in Ormond beach. As we came into Lake City headed to Jacksonville, Maps rerouted us onto a shorter route. I was not the navigator at this point and my husband and hadn't noticed the change. Anyway, at some point Maps told us to exit off the main highway we were on and make a sharp left. The exit didn't look major and I began to get nervous. The sharp left turned us onto a very beautiful tree lined road. We saw a sign, about 100 feet in from the turn that said. WARNING low hanging branches, narrow roads and possible flooding, with another sign saying road open. We also noticed a road blocker pushed to the side that said road closed. I quickly checked my mirrors and had 5 cars behind me and there was no way to turn the motorhome around. I began to panic, we had no choice but to proceed. For the next 12 miles we would be on what should have been a one lane road with Florida swamp land on either side, zero shoulder.  I crept along at a snails pace carefully watching each low hanging branch and hugging the edge of the road to allow on coming cars to pass. I kept hoping for a turn off but there were none. The road at parts was a bit flooded over and many turns were blind turns. Not a child in the RV made as much as a squeak. For 12 miles we journeyed down this road. Finally we came out to what I believe was A1A. All the tension drained from my body and quiet tears rolled down my cheeks. From that point on Google became "stupid google", like stupid Judy.

    What's your story??

  9. I think it really depends on when you arrive. We have extended stays for up to 4 days the week before Christmas. We had friends call at the last minute and got a few days early in October. There have always been empty sites whenever we have stayed. That being said, I think the best bet to getting a last minute campsite is to only plan for a 2 or 3 day stay during the week.

I suppose you can at least reuse the baggie but yeah, the timing of this is kind of weird.  But then I don't see Disney turning away from sponsorship $$$ these days.

It is all about the money. All these years that the ride has been running and they are just now concerned about your phone? Has there really been that much out cry about wet phones? No, your right, it's a money/sponser thing.  I do like that they will have a recycling bin.
