  1. We ordered a new 5er a few weeks back and it goes into production tomorrow. We are scheduled to pickup Sep 3/4th. We will be driving quite a distance from home to the selling dealer (850 miles 1 way) to pick it up and I want to make sure I dont miss anything major. We sold the TT and need to make sure we are set for a 5th wheel. Heading on an ambitious route with a tight schedule so we need to try to avoid issues. Atlanta - Michigan - Niagra falls - Hershey Pa - and back to Atlanta in 6 days. Here is what I have done and what I have questions about. Any other thoughts or suggestions are
  2. Thanks Bhall, We are aware of the payload issues especially with the 4x4 and diesel eating into the payload. The truck is actually stickered at right around 2k if i remember correctly. We are planning to move the suspension to the 3500 SRW suspension which will gain us the 1200 lbs of payload I need. The 3500 srw has a payload of just over 4k on the 1ton frame. Obviously the 3500 chassis would be best but have you ever ridden in one? Rough as can be. But great info!
  3. We have a ram 2500 diesel 4x4, I will tow the trailer (8k?) home from the storage lot to the house without the WD bars hooked up and it works but is bouncy. When I use the bars the ride smooths out. I dont really notice much drop without the bars, maybe 1.5" and with the bars hardly any at all. Both work but the bars give me a better ride.
  4. Well it seems as though we have talked ourselves into a bigger camper. Started with a 1500 and a 30' TT, Moved up to the 2500 HD Diesel and well now we want a bigger trailer. (Watch out Nacole if you get that bigger truck) Here is what our top choice is within our budget so far, Its not perfect but darn close: Keystone Cougar 336bhs Fifth Wheel http://www.keystonerv.com/cougar/models/336bhs/model-mobile It has almost everything we are wanting with the exception of a bathroom with a door to the outside If anyone has any suggestions we would love to hear them, We are open to new or 2-3
  5. Thanks for the insight, All this is new to me. Once we decide on a theme / idea I will have the designer tweak the wording sizing.
  6. I am working on a new website and could use some opinions. We are building a site that would allow users to view and rate specific spots in a campground rather then just see reviews on the whole place. As a family with small children we often find ourselves sticking to sites we have previously "Scouted out" so we dont have to wonder what surprises we will find when we check in. We think there is a market for a site that would help campers choose sites more wisely. http://www.designcrowd.com/vote/help-me-pick-out-the-best-logo- This may be a total waste of time but someone's gotta t
  7. Glad to hear only 30 for you, better then a transmission rebuild.... For CCIntrigue...aka Gwen from NC avoiding the mountains i think adds 2 hrs.. Nacole, are you going to head up a GG?
  8. There is a way around the mountains! Into atlanta and NaCole knows the way... Think it only adds a few hours but totally worth it!
  9. I cannot take the lead, but I will follow! Count us in anytime....
  10. Thanks for inviting us along we had a great time. Would have been great to see balloons but weather didn't work out. The boys were ready to go back even before we had the trailer unpacked. The campground was really nice, we have already re booked for fathers day weekend. It really would be a great place for a gathering based on the conversation I overheard while we were booking our return in a few weeks the owners are happy to accommodate larger groups. The drive up was a bit steep and winding more suited to a convertible (Oh how we miss ours!) or a harley but the boys loved the "twisty

  12. Thanks for all the wonderful advise, Trying to do this right so it actually works..... Only issue so far is "real" work is getting in the way.
  13. MPG numbers may change a bit, truck is new only 3500 miles, 1800 towing no real long hauls but so far here is where we stand. What you have (i.e. Class A, TT, 5th wheel): 30 TT If you're towing (so TT or 5th wheel) how heavy is it: 9500 ~ If you tow, what is your tow vehicle: 2014 Ram 2500 Diesel 4x4 Gas mileage: 13.8 mpg towing with golf cart in bed, 23.5 not towing (I am really light on the pedal, you dont want to be behind me) Do you like it, love it or hate it: TT - love, Truck Love If you'd like to make a change, change to what and why: Would love to have the long bed but
  14. I though i would see if anyone here wants these sites before i release them to the public. Sites 5 and 6 on lake hartwell july 3- 6 http://www.recreation.gov/camping/springfield/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO&parkId=71430 Ill hold them for a few more days then release them if no takers. adam
  15. We have started talking about a summer long road trip for us in a few years will be tuning in for some notes. My wife and I took a 40 day road trip before kiddos, rented a convertible and hit the road just a start date and an approx end date, the rest was play it by ear. Best 10k miles of our lives to date. That was in hotels not a camper, cannot wait to repeat with a camper. .
  16. We are only a few months into owning our camper but so far Yes list Stone Mountain - our go to, close, fun for kids and easy Bald Ridge, Cumming GA (thanks Nacole and Mike) Campfire Lodgings, Asheville NC OK LIst Pine Mountain - not bad, just not worth the drive for us No list Fort Yargo, sadly only 10 mins from our house but no assigned spots, very tight
  17. Thanks for the advise, I dont have any delusion that this idea will generate any revenue, just need to see if I can bring my vision to life for a reasonable sum. Its more of a site that I have needed and not found online so someone needs to make it. Hopefully it works out. Could be great but going into it I know there is a limited pool of possible users.
  18. Great links, I am definitely going to need a programmer to make my idea work and my skills in programming are nada. I thought I would work out the design of the site, see if it actually could do what I want and then spend the money on someone to make it functional. My vision for the site is grand, my skills are zip... Just need to see if i can make it happen as a hobby and not go broke doing it!.
  19. I am toying with the idea of making a camping related website. I have NO skill in web site building. Since this is going to be a camping related site I thought I would talk to the folks here first. The site I want to build will be somewhat involved so probably need more of a professional then a tinkerer. And of course this is a paying gig. If anyone can help, or knows of someone let me know. Adam
  20. I bet they would. My advise offer 2 versions, bare carve and they can finish themselves and finished.... Also price higher then you would think. It is one thing when its your name on the carving and its a labor of love, entirely different chore when it is for someone else.... Just my 2 cents coming from someone who has a lot of "friends" that know I own a CNC and like to ask for "quick" jobs....
  21. Looks great, I have been toying with the idea of doing something like that myself. I dusted off my CNC and fired up the ole woodshop last week and made a family sign for our general camping trips. I may have to borrow your idea and make a FW specific sign for when we go in the fall. Keep up the good work!
  22. If you are handy when you go to test drive the cart you should check the voltage of the batteries under load. (drive up a hill) A good set should not drop more then a volt or 2 under load.
  23. Watch the EGR Delete, In my opinion the type of driver that deletes is also the kinda driver that tends to work/ride the truck hard. (otherwise why delete to gain power?)
