  1. I can eat stuff that would make a billygoat puke.

But, that last photo made my stomach turn a bit.

Some things should not be attempted.  Mixing cheeseburgers with egg rolls is one of those things.  Just because it can be done doesn't mean it should be done.

    TCD

That looks appetizing to me, but I haven't had anything to eat all day yet and it will be a few hours before I can even grab supper.

  2. Here are some pics from my last two stays at J&D.

This is from August from either 20A or 21A.  I took this from inside the camper.

Then one day a man from Rolling Hills Red Deer Farm

brought one of the Red Deer to the campground for the kids to see and pet and feed.

That picture does not due the size of that deer any justice.  That is a 2 horse trailer.  Btw, red deer are pretty tasty.

Now, the following pics are from October.  We actually closed the campground down for the year.  If I remember correctly I think we were in 24E.

They let us stay one more day.  Other then the seasonals and employees, we were the last regular campers there.  It was awesome.  I'd give my right arm for solitude like that again.

  3. Where did you stay at Lake Glory, because the sites along Covered Bridge Dr are a good size and pretty level. We don't use the shuttle either, its easier to park and its free anyway.

    Best Regards,

    Norm

Think it was just simply knoebels drive.  Both times were in the vicinity of the office and small pond.  Both times, did not have sewer as they said they were full.  Both times, I noticed there were plenty of vacancies in the full hook up sites but since they were not cancellations, but simply "no shows" they couldn't switch me out.

Well, it looks like September is the better time for most.  September 19 would be the quieter weekend, as the following weekend the Bloomsburg Fair starts, so I guess it depends on if folks want to coincide with the fair or not.

But Lake Glory and J&D look pretty good.

J&D looks like it would have everything we want amenity wise, if we can get sites close together.  There is a playground behind the stretch of sites 83-100, but that is only good if the sites aren't being taken up by seasonals.

No seasonals at Lake Glory, so no worries there, and the sites look like they have a little more space.  They just don't have the amenities of J&D.

Myself, I am still leaning towards Lake Glory, as I think the shuttle to the park would be nice, and I like the look of the sites better.

I am also leaning toward September 19, as it is in that nice lull season before the fair and then the Covered Bridge Festival.

As of last camping season there, a good bit of those sites across from 83-100 were seasonal campers.  I am not sure about those that you have quoted.  As for more space at Lake Glory vs. J&D, I feel that is a wrong perception.  That is one of the reasons we stopped going to Lake Glory.  When I had my 33.5' Long TT, the pad wasn't long enough in its levelness.  I had to go buy cinder blocks because my tongue jack was all the way out and out and it was still facing down hill.  Another time it was just too tight to move my Truck in and out with everyone parked the way they did.  Finally when it was time to leave with the TT I had to have the neighbors on the door side move their SUV otherwise I would've smashed it.  They had it parked on the road at the site 'border' and I didn't have enough room across the road to even swing wide.

At J&D, there isn't that problem.  I like the "A" Section.  Preferably 16A-25A.  My 2nd favorite section which is starting to move to my most favorite section is the E section.  Preferably 19E-33E.  With all of that being said I have no dog in the fight since July or September will not work for me at all.  Just relaying real world experience from both campgrounds.  As for the shuttle......meh, not much to be impressed about.

  5. The one lady did tell me that if they don't know about a problem, then they just get put back in rotation.  She also complimented on my packing skills.  She said she wished everybody else put everything back in the bag like I did.  That's just my IT background I guess.  I do intend to tell them that this current kit has a bad coax and cat 5 cable so hopefully that will be fixed for the next person.  I'm not a big Linksys fan but those cable modems are virtually bulletproof and reliable.  That is when they're hooked up and left alone.  Being hooked up, disconnected and tossed about on a weekly basis is not good for them.

  6. Yes, as I understand it is now used by CM's.

Hi neighbor!  I like your choice in trucks :)

Anyway, Arrived here later then I wanted to  on the 2nd.  Bad weather and dealing with with a headcold from PA cold temps/winds made a miserable two day trip.  After setting up the camper and settling the dogs and picking up pizza from the settlement (Yum) I was able to hook up the cable modem.  Only to find out it didn't work.  I even swapped out al the cables with what I had brought along and still nada.  So called  what sounded like India and they told me to swap out the kit, so I pack it all back up and run it back to the trading post and get another one.  Hook the replacement up and this one doesn't work either and this time the tv is fuzzy.  So, traced the fuzzy tv to a bad coax before the splitter, then found a bad cat 5 in the kit as to why no internet.  So, 10:30 PM comes around and I'm finally able to work.  Two hours later and it starts to flake out again and the internet signal was intermittent and then by 1 AM was down.  So, I had to call and wake my supervisor up and let him know that I couldn't finish my work due to no internet.  He was not happy.  Fortunately tonight I was able to get everything done without any issues.  I did bring along my own new wireless router so my wife could use her laptop and I could use my day job's laptop while leaving the bank laptop jacked in.  Hopefully Wednesday's work session is trouble free as well..

  7. As a last resort you could try the business center at the Contemporary. Surely they have had no wifi use come up before.

    Thanks for all the replies.

Like TIm's wife, my laptop has had all of the fun stuff disabled in the bios of the laptop and I am unable to re-enable it due to not knowing the bios password.  I'm also not authorized to use Satellite Internet either.  So, there is no chance of using wifi....ever.....  Also, my work hours of 9 pm to 1 am or later make it harder to find accommodations as well.

  8. Hello All,

Will be visiting the fort for the first time ever on March 2nd until the 7th.  This will be our 2nd trip to WDW though where we stayed at the Pop Century Resort back in 2007 :flush2:

After reading several thread on a few forums about the cable modems, I'm starting to get worried as this is going to be a working vacation for me.  I can have time off from the day job (in fact my boss will be at WDW the same week.  It's much easier if we take off the same time) however, for my evening job it's much harder to take off as I'm the only one fully trained for it other then my supervisor who works a 9 hour day.  With that being said because it's for a financial institution, I CANNOT use wireless and must use a secured LAN Cat 5/6 connection.  The laptop is encrypted and the usb ports will not allow a USB wireless adapter.  So, there's no way around it, if I want to travel, I have to find places where I can use a network jack.  Makes vacations, let alone camping very hard to schedule.

Has anyone here ran into any difficulites with the availibilty of modems?  I've been ensured twice that they have that request on my reservation but I'm not holding my breath.  I need to be able to work most definitely on Tues-Thur. as my Supervisor will not be able to cover for me.  He's on call to work Monday if I can't get set up in time (9 PM to 1 am) but doesn't really want to as he starts work at 8 am the next morning picking up the processes where I left off  I already have Friday scheduled off from awhile back ago.

So, will I be ok or just being a worry wort.  (Difficulty:  The financial institution will not be able to function in the morning for several hours if I don't do my job)

    Thanks,
    Bob

  9. J&D is mine and my wife's favorite campground.  We love the view of the mountain on the other side of northern drive.  We like how generally quiet it is and the staff is mosly friendly and helpful.  They even rescued us a few years ago when an  unforecasted storm came through at 5:30 am and broke the awning in half and tore some of the siding off of our travel trailer.  We couldn't get out though the doors.  We are even thinking about purchasing a seasonal site there as it's only about 100 miles north of us.
