  1. That park has a lot of fishing tournaments. I just checked their website for our upcoming trip to Destin from Charlotte, NC, and the price is more than double when we stayed there last year.  Looks like there is a big bass tournament then.  So, definitely check their calendar of events.

BTW, C loop (called Clark) is just water & electric, and D loop (Deer or Deerpark or something) is the full h/u.

We are looking for an alternate route this year as we do not want to take our MH through ATL again after last year!

    Oh, and welcome!

  2. Not sure if you can make Eufala on the way, but we overnighted at Lakepoint(e?) State Park, that ended up being a great stop.  We called ahead and they gave us the gate code since we weren't going to make it before closing. I think C loop is the full h/u, all pull throughs. We just found an empty one. They told me to come pay the next morning in the marina store. That was a bit of a mess because there was one guy doing campground stuff and he was slow. I wanted to just pay and leave, but they needed all my info for their system (address, email, phone, etc) when we were on our way out.

  3. We overnighted at Hanna Park in Jacksonville before. Not sure what time of year you are going, but we stopped on the way back from spring break, so March-ish, and there was plenty of parking in the beach lots.

I will say a) you do have to go a bit off 95 and there was construction with traffic then, so not ideal to hop on/hop off and 2) not the prettiest beach (to be fair, that was after a week at Destin, so we might have been a little spoiled.)

Probably not the best, but an option.

  4. Just got an email with some more promo codes. Checked their website and they appear to be different than the special offers on there.

For 2/28-4/28 (book by 2/26) Family Suites starting at $149/night + $50 resort credit - SAVE

    now-4/28 (book by 2/26) FS start at $120/night select Mon-Wed - GR8DEAL

These may be the same ones we already talked about but it looks like they opened some more dates with them.

Well must be a nice place if you stayed there the whole time plus your going back. Good to hear.

You may have seen on the website, they have a big inflatable water slide. It was only inflated for one day of our stay. It says on the website that they charge a certain amount per ride or for unlimited rides, but they didn't charge that day. That was good because my boys were done after 2 or 3 times down.

We didn't really do the pools either. It was a little chilly that week. One pool had a temporary shelter around it, and my husband walked in and said the chlorine smell was overwhelming.  The other pool was open but chilly.

So basically we did beach and camper.  That was our first time at beaches that nice and now we are spoiled.

Oh, met 2 different very large groups camping there; one was from IN and had been coming every year for 15 years. The other was from all over (but the specific people we talked to were from Chicago) and they had been coming for 10 years.

Looking at Camp Gulf. Me Dw and Dd 6 years old.

We stayed at Camp Gulf last spring break by ourselves and are going back this spring break with a bigger group. We actually only left the campground 1 time, and that was to go to a seafood market. Not sure what we did, I guess just hung out on the beach and at our camper.  Oh, we did do a little drive to a cute town and I'm drawing a blank on what it is called.

  7. Hey! I grew up playing softball. Though we played slow pitch, we finally got a fast pitch team my senior year of HS.

Anyhoo, of course I will be rooting for the Hokies. Not quite off to the same start as Auburn. Looks like we are 1-4, all from a tournament last weekend. 2 of those losses were against #2 Michigan and #1 Florida.  Up next weekend, the ACC/Big 10 challenge, where we play Michigan again twice.

When they put the views out to the public it will be fun to see if the cameras caught anyone doing anything crazy.

The Google cams have caught some very strange things in the past....

TCD might even find some RMOG's mixed in there ;)

I wonder if they will just do the parks or include the resorts like the Fort?

One time I was walking in my neighborhood and saw the google car drive by 3x.  I forgot about it and then GSV came up on my other message board, so I checked all the streets I remembered I was on. Found myself on one. I did not do anything crazy or strange, but they did blur some spots, like my hat, my tank top, and my face.

    YouTube is your friend.  :-)

I knew some really basic stitches from ages ago, but since I've picked it up again I've learned a bunch more thanks to the interwebz. Now I'm on a mad tear, although I haven't ventured beyond "flat" projects yet - bags, shawls, scarves, blankets... I did attempt slipper booties, which actually turned out pretty ok.

I haven't gotten into the 3-D stuff like these dolls yet but I'd like to at some point.

I have too much fabric for sewing projects right now to get into crocheting for real.  Maybe when I'm old and can't move. I did sprain my ankle yesterday, so maybe I'll get some sewing done this week!

  10. Well, looks like I am out for sure.  Just found out State Cup starts that weekend, so with both my boys having soccer games my husband would not be able to be in two places at once. :(

Can't wait to see pics and read all about it!

That was what surprised us and it wasn't just kids. We saw teenagers and collage aged kids as well as a few adults. I would put it on par with Star Wars fans as to how involved the people were.

One of the things Rene and I noticed about Universal is the blatant marketing. It seemed to us that more was spent on finding ways to part you with your money than on rides. While Disney also wants you to spend your money it is more subtle and the rides/events take center stage.

LOL, I know. We saw the same thing.  My 15 yo said if he had $119 he would buy the robe, too.

That stinks. So far only happened to me once. Poor Beckers has cards she hasn't even used yet get hacked

They even set ours up so that anytime we are out of the state and try to use it, we can't.  Yes, we could call them before we leave and give them our travel dates, but we are always too busy and forget, so then we're at a truck stop on the phone with them.
