Obviously "passive cooling" was tested in Cali or Switzerland. Someone needs to take some Disney Execs for a Sunday drive down I-4 in August, turn off the A/C, and roll down the tinted windows so they can enjoy some Florida passive cooling. LOL!

I just wish they would build a campground instead of more hotels! The Fort needs some competition.

I just got back from spending some time in northern Michigan in our motorhome.  We had a great time, and one of the reasons we had a great time is that the weather was beautiful.  Highs in the 70's, and low humidity.  And even with that, we still ran the A/C in our RV.  We chattered our teeth away all night and we loved it.  You people that camp in Florida in the summer are nuts.
You know, they have these things called interstate highways.  Find one with an odd number....those run north/south.  Get on it, and drive north until you stop sweating.  That's a summer vacation.  And in the winter, just do the opposite.  That's when you'll find me in Florida.

New photos are popping up to show a great deal of progress and towers are starting to lift high into the sky already.
The new gondola system doesn’t yet have an opening date, but it is expected to begin operation sometime in 2019. As originally reported by Disney Parks Blog, the transportation system will connect Disney’s Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, and Pop Century Resorts directly to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the back of Epcot.

There are a lot of different projects going on around Walt Disney World, and that may make it difficult for guests to keep up on all of them. While going around property, guests are able to see that work on the Skyliner is really coming along and it will be only a matter of time until they are traveling through the air.
Over on Twitter, the always informative user @bioreconstruct has put up some new looks at how construction on the Skyliner is progressing. Some of the most noticeable things are the towers up near Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Seeing as how Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort isn’t far away from Hollywood Studios, the Skyliner will connect it to the two parks. It’s hard to pinpoint the work at CBR as the entire resort is undergoing a lot of work right now.
When looking at the area from high above, almost all of the Skyliner coverage can be seen.

Well, as some of you know from my other post, we are campers again and spent a few days at the fort and the parks last week.  Since it’s been over a year since we did a true Disney vacation, I wanted to give some opinions on some of the changes we saw:
    Animal Kingdom:
its been over 2 1/2 years since we have been to this park and we actually went twice this trip. We were very excited to see the 5 year project of Pandora completed. As much as flight of Passage is an awesome ride, I was very disappointed with Pandora overall.  First, I thought the area would be much bigger. I was not impressed with the usual Disney use of concrete for everything(trees, plants, etc). I felt a lot of inspiration from Epcot.  As Much as the floating mountains are impressive, they didn’t do much for me. I know they can’t actually float a piece of concrete, but to me they didn’t even look like part of a the movie. The river cruise was alright. The use of projection for the animals and the waterfall was great. But again, it was a short ride and I expected way more than a little mermaid ride. Overall after a 5 year project, I was not overly thrilled with Pandora. Flight of passage though was a fun ride and I think a tad better than soarin and we love soarin.  Pandora was saved for us because of this ride.
We had a FP for rivers of light and I have to say, one the best if not the best night time show of all the parks. There was some great imagination that went into this show and we really enjoyed it.  Are those floating flowers on a track?  If not, kudos to the flower drivers.
We had dinner at Yak and Yeti for the first time and actually had a great meal and cheaper than most resort restaurants. The sevice sucked but the food made up for it. Maybe because this is a Landry’s restaurant that is not solely operated by Disney like the rain Forrest. Overall, Animal kingdom used to be my least favorite park but it’s starting to gain momentum  we had a great time both times
    The Fort:
a few little changes.  I loved what they did with the cart parking at the Marina  it was starting to get out of hand with carts parking all over the place  it’s nice the bikes are out of the sand and grass is now growing in areas once damaged by carts  the picnic tables are a little strange there, but I’m sure it was a typical fort quick fix.  I also thought they did a great job with the landscaping by the new cart parking and all  the new shrubs along the cart path.  It’s nice seeing them put money back into the fort.  The chuck wagon was a good idea to give another food option at the fort.  The fencing of the playgrounds was beginning the last time we camped along with fencing of the pool  both great ideas   At least now I know my kids will not wander off
Overall we had a great time and loved camping again  we went to the other parks but no real significant changes.  I did notice more security after dark at the fort and less people out and about after the fireworks.  Probably another good thing.  Now for the biggest con, we went to book spring break for next year and a premium site was $210 a night.  WTF

So as we travel down this path trying to figure out if we have to pay for toads, what about golf carts. Golf Carts are motorized. What about motorcycles or scooters? As far as the Fort is concerned they will need further clarification about "complimentary standard parking" and "one (1) motorized vehicle".  Our last visit a few weeks ago two adjoining full hook up sites across from us had 5 additional vehicles, 3 golf carts and two huge tents. What about all those extra family and friend vehicles? Were they rental rv's and everyone drove in? Yikes, what a mess this could be and expensive!

OMG! Thanks for the wonderful sweet memories. Teachers got in for free, tickets were $11 and we surely did covet those "E" ticket coupons. I still have some of those coupons and comp tickets as keepsakes of those glory days. Ahhhhh.....how sweet it was!

Seems to me like these "special events" are getting out of hand. I feel sorry for people who buy tickets to find out their time in a specific park is limited because of an "evening event."  A day ticket on those special days is exactly that- doesn't mean you get night time too. They need to start charging less for limited access. That'll never happen-haha! But would be an eloquent solution, good public relations, and put the smile back on Walt's face.

Unfortunately security at Disney isn't well thought out or consistent. You get scrutinized like crazy before entering one of the theme parks. You can get hassled trying to enter a parking lot at Disney hotels (not all of them). But park your car at Disney Springs, use the FREE bus transportation and you have the keys to the kingdom-access to all the hotel/resort areas no questions asked. Once again its that false sense of safety fostered by Disney.  It really excels at "perceived" security vs "actual" security. Won't stop me from enjoying my visits to Disney but its definitely a place to use your "city smarts" and don't be foolish when it comes to you and your families safety. Would love to see one of the Orlando TV Station Investigative Reporters do a story on this. Definitely the type of "reality" publicity Disney doesn't like and would force their hands to address the situation.
