Your right. I forgot about the asinine rule about hand gestures they started last year.

We were told our players can get a flag if they do the horns down hand gesture against Texas.

They are trying to turn football in to a sissy sport.  Were no ones feelings are hurt.

I don't think that's new. Our players have gotten flagged for doing the gator chop to FL. I remember AJ Green getting flagged for jumping up and down in the end zone after a touchdown because he was alone and not with a teammate. I think they're more relaxed about celebrations these days. I've just never seen someone do a throat slash and not get called. Did you like Johnny Manziel too?

  2. Like I said.  Georgia played their hearts out and I’m not trying to take anything away from their win. I was simply stating where we made errors and our weaknesses.   If we would’ve had a better defense we might have won.  But we didn’t and the better team won.

    Penalized for throat slashing???

I’ve never seen anyone get penalized for doing that.

There isn’t a “no tolerance” program in college football. LOL

If there was should FSU would be penalized for hacking down their opponents. Or Texas tech and Oklahoma State for firing their pistols at their opponents. Lol!

Throat slashing by a player is classified as taunting and is an automatic flag in college. It’s a fine in the NFL. I’ve seen players get flagged for less.

The Gawgs played their hearts out.

And I don’t want to take away anything from their win.

Mayfield was battling a flu all week and missed almost every Practice this week. If you had seen them play at all this year you would know he was not at 100 percent.

But imho we lost because of our defense.  It’s been our Achilles’ heel all year long. They made too many rookie mistakes that cost us points.   And you can’t make those kind of mistakes with the team as good as Georgia.

We also had a few horrible plays called by our coaches. Like the botched onside kick right before the end  of the first half. Why would you make such a stupid call? You’re up by 17 points going into the half. Kick the ball in the end zone and go into the locker room. Don’t allow your opponents to make a quick easy three points.

Even though I’ve been a Bama fan for years and years I think I will be cheering with Kelly for her Dawgs next week.

It was a good game. We had our share of goofs too. I knew it would be high scoring, but never would have predicted THAT many points. I wanted to cry when Michel fumbled for the first time since his freshman year, and it cost us a touchdown. I was glad he got to make that right.

As far as Mayfield... ugh.... And how did he not get penalized for the throat slash and saying "It's Over" in the first quarter? I've seen players get penalized for much less. He's super talented, but his attitude reminds me of Johnny Football, and we know how that's worked out for Johnny.

Or, many new RV owners who bought into the hype of the TV shows will realize there are other aspects to RV ownership such as maintenance and repairs.  I wonder if we're heading towards an burst of the RV bubble which will bring the demand down a bit.

I doubt it. We have several friends who have recently bought trailers or RVs. They're all loving it.

Just wanted to give you guys hope. New people will come on board. My wife and I have a 2 year old. We are taking our first trip to the fort in June. My wife has never been and I was taken twice as a child in a pop up camper in the 80s. I can not wait to return. Have hope there are new people. Thank you for all the info I have read it is helping a lot for my first trip as an adult.

    Welcome!

  6. I agree that CG's would usually take up more space per guest than a Resort Hotel,  although I do wonder how the footprint of the Fort compares to the other Resorts in total land use when you include their parking lots, access roads, utilities, etc.
TCD,  we need your Magic Purple Crayon!
And is space an issue at WDW? Other than space near the Lakes/Monorails isn't there plenty of room to plunk down another CG or two?
My bigger question is that if some or all of the hotels also only really fill on the weekends and holidays like the Fort, that fact hasn't stopped Disney from adding new Hotels, so why wouldn't they add Campsites in some form to meet the weekend demand at the Fort?
Wouldn't the weekend sell-out revenue alone justify building more RV sites, especially "Value" ones?
And if hotel rooms don't have to be full all week to justify building more hotels, is this Disney again looking at the Fort in a different way than all their other Resort areas?

Here's what you need to look at... rates of $50-150 a night vs rates of $500-1200+ a right. Of course, those are estimates but close. Look at the current builds... Poly bungalows, Wilderness Lodge cabins, deluxe rooms at Coronado and Caribbean beach. Value level is far from the current focus. The last full resort they built was value. They've moved on to other priorities now.

I just said the heck with it.  I booked a cabin 12/27-1/2.  When I called to shorten the time to 4 days I was told it was not available. The lady on the phone said wow that doesn't sound right. She then put me on hold and called the fort and got it done. When she came back on the phone to tell me it was taken care of. She said she didn't understand how they do reservations at the fort. Doesn't make any sense to her and she works there.  Now I just have to take out a second mortgage to pay for the cabin for a few nights. Lol

She must be new or contracted then. The booking system they use is not only used at the Fort.... the Disney hotels have the same thing, and I see it all the time.

Several of us have emailed Disney over the last 5 years or so, but it seems to fall on deaf ears other than a canned thank you response.

My own idea was that since Disney is fixated on Resort Room thinking (and DVC DVC DVC....) then make camping more in line with the Resorts: Create 3 levels of Campgrounds to match with the Deluxe, Moderate, and Value levels of rooms/resorts.

Clear an open area, put parking lines in and put in basic electric and water for each space with a central dump station. Call it the Value area aimed at people who just need a place to plug in for a night or a weekend and don't care about their surroundings.

Make the Fort as is the Moderate Level CG

Then create your "Super-Sized" loops in a separate area, call it the Deluxe area, and have all the Bells and Whistles, maybe even Concierge Service.

If Disney figures out they can get even more money from some campers,  and they can relate them to room levels, maybe they'll be more willing to expand.

Here's the problem... campsites take up more space than hotels that build up. They do what you're talking about already and in a space where they can build multiple stories up and charge more.

Even on the weekends there are still some "Phantom Sites" when the system shows everything booked.

I'm curious though..... do the Resort Rooms show the same "Weekend Warrior" effect? Are the hotels booked more on the weekends and less-so midweek? Or is that just at the Fort?

I'm talking just WDW here, I know that CG's and hotels elsewhere do book up weekends much more quickly in general.

Yes, the hotels also book more on the weekends. The same thing is common to find there.... you can book a week but not a weekend. This is even more common when trying to use a FL resident or any other discount.

But we don't know if they're going to use space that will affect the general public. There's lots of areas that are not being used all over Disney World where they can put a new club 33.

Take for example club 33 at Disneyland. I bet the average guest doesn't even know it exists. Let alone know where it's at.

Or look at the Siemans lounge at Epcot. Again I bet most people don't even know exists or where it's at. And it doesn't take away from the general public.

Me personally, I just hope to be one of those high rollers that can afford some of those perks. That have been at WDW since it opened.

Just don't forget your favorite sister.

The original Orlando Sentinel article linked above stated that Disney confirmed that Club 33 would be coming to WDW.

    Since then, nothing.

    What happened?

    This article explores that question:

One thing is for sure- there has been no obvious marketing of memberships.

Very interesting. I think there would still be a market, especially because so many companies do annual conventions in Orlando. Pricing might have to look different, but I think it could still be successful.

I'm surprised the location under construction at the MK hasn't been named. That's where I thought it was going to be... where Tink used to meet... can't remember the name.

    Here's a strange fact.

Mark Richt is currently the longest serving head coach at any of the state of Florida's college football programs.

And that dude was coaching at Georgia two years ago.

We are in uncharted territory here.

That's crazy. Hadn't thought of that.

Oklahoma’s QB Baker Mayfield takes home a 25lb souvenir from NYC.

He’s bringing the Heisman Trophy back to Oklahoma. (The heisman is made by a company about twenty miles from OU.)

I’m hoping we don’t have to deal with either of the heisman curses. Lol!

    Boomer!  Sooner!

I hope the curse is a real thing!

There's a lot of talk about our defense. I don't think our offense is so bad either. If we can run the ball and control the clock, Mayfield won't have as many chances to throw the ball. I think that's the key to the game.

I know.  Injuries are part of the game.  Your coaches made good adjustments, and I was impressed.  And it scares me that you did that with a freshman QB.

I don't get how you can say your schedule wasn't easy.  What good teams did y'all beat?  ND wasn't very good- and they got killed by Miami.  Mississippi State went 4-4 in the SEC.  Where's your signature regular season win?  I'm not saying Georgia isn't good.  They are.  But, in my opinion, they had an easier path to the playoffs than any of the other teams in top four.

    TCD

Our schedule was ranked as high as #1 most difficult pre-season. Yes, some of the teams we played didn't end up being as good as predicted. However, I've seen our schedule ranked between 10-27th most difficult based on current rankings. That's out of 130 teams, so I stand by my statement that our schedule is more difficult than most of the country's. And I do think a win in South Bend at night is a signature win, especially with a freshman making his first career start. Notre Dame might have lost some games, but they crushed the PAC 12 champion. Alabama's strength of schedule is actually ranked below ours in every set of rankings I saw.

  11. Yes, I was wrong.  I didn't expect that result. But, y'all benefited from the fact that two of Auburn's best players go hurt in the Alabama game.  Still, congratulations.  Your coaches made adjustments, and your players stepped up.  Well done.
But, I stand by my opinion that Georgia had an easy schedule. Especially compared to Auburn's. Aside from Georgia, the SEC East was horrible this year.  Your best win was against ND, and they turned out to be not-so-good.  Compare that to Auburn, who had to play Clemson, Alabama and LSU in their regular season.
I would love to see y'all play Alabama in the Championship Game (sorry,  Ray).

One of our top running backs also went out. Our schedule might not have been as challenging as Auburn, but compared to the whole country, it wasn't easy.
