  1. Last week's trip to the Fort was fantastic. We had originally planned to take our small pop-up for the week, but my parents invited themselves along (and we welcomed them), so our little 3 person pup wasn't going to work. Luckily for us, we found Meachum's RV right here on the boards! Andrew had a 3 queen bed hybrid that made all of us happy. We were also able to rent 2 carts from him, giving my mom and dad the option to scoot around and explore on their own. It was so great to drive up and have everything set up for us! 2. Do you think online check in HELPS or HURTS your chances of getting a requested loop? We have requested 1500 (over 2000-blah!) for our Aug. trip and don't want to mess with our chances.
  3. Sadly, no...it sat in a bag of rice in the dash for 4 days. It would start and then reboot itself every minute or so. It's gone. My awesome hubby gave me his phone (some model) and switched back to one of our older ones. He really only uses it for voice and text. I haven't looked at laundry the same way since!
  4. Oh Lou, I've been making a photobook on Snapfish and have typed up a daily diary of sorts. I'm up to 225 photos and 2 weeks of daily written entries. Do you really want to see all of that?
  5. Ok, it's not exactly a report... here's a video montage: http://photopeach.com/album/t2ylxe?invitecode=24ee72060a
  6. Last week, after being at the fort for about a week and a half, DH started the van and we had all sorts of warning lights light up on the dash. He poked around under the hood, and determined that even though the engine sounded a little rough, we could make it home ok, which we did. Yesterday, we took it in for repairs and this is the picture the tech took of our engine. Boy those squirrels have an expensive diet!
  7. We, too, were super pleased with our experience renting from Kenny. Two thumbs up!!!
  8. We used Gary, too, on June 29. We had returned to the camper the night before and the AC wasn't running. We called him the next morning and based on our description over the phone, he was able to bring all the correct parts with him that afternoon. He had it up and running in about 20 minutes! He was very nice and we were pleased with what he charged us. Interestingly, there are about 80 people on Disney's list, they won't recommend any one person, and some of those people charge $1000 just to come see what your problem is! Yes, you read that correctly- $1000-- crazy, right?
  9. We are here too! Got here yesterday and immediately added an extra day since we won't be hitting the parks today! Wow! This is some rain. I am a hero with my hubby for renting the golf cart! (And Kenny was awesome!) We are hunkered down in 1515.
  10. We are Tour de France junkies and it begins this year while we are at the Fort. It is on Verses on TV. Anyone know the channel line up at the Fort? Do they have Verses?
  11. This is my first (gasp) time reading one of your trip reports and oh my you are funny! Question- how did you know that the studios were opening at 7:30?
  12. Just tried for the 5%, but our dates are 10 days out of range- darn! Guess that means I have time to keep checking for more discounts (fingers crossed).
  13. I'm watching the google earth video of loop 1500 (the loop we requested for our PUP) and I keep seeing these "mailboxes" (large wood boxes on stands with 3 slots) next to the trash cans. What are they? Are they mailboxes or something else? What are they used for?
  14. Oh! Goody! We will get to see them this 4th of July!!! Which location has the best?
  15. Ok, next question (and by the way, thanks for the answers to all my other questions- you guys are great!!!): Should we rent a golf cart? I've check out the golf cart page and there is lots of great info there. What I want to know is do we really need a golf cart? We have a pop up and will request the 1500 loop. Where can you go and park your cart? Can you leave it at the bus stops for a day in the parks and ride it back to the site at then end of the day? So, what are the benefits/drawbacks to renting a cart?
  16. I love my Droid Bionic. I'm a Google girl and use the email, calendar, and task sync daily. I also use my phone as a music player and have a nice, inexpensive Motorola bluetooth speaker that has Bose quality. I also plug into my car speakers via the headphone aux jack. If you haven't checked out www.cnet.com, you really should. I check them before I buy any electronic device. They have great, unbiased reviews.
  17. Should we get the dining plan? What has been your experience? Do most campers forgo the plan? We will definitely eat breakfast at the camper, and most likely some lunches/dinners, especially on non-park days (ie, pool days). We also plan to travel a bit outside of Disney (ie Legoland). I know you have to take the plan for each night you are there. We do want to eat at some of the great restaurants we've been hearing about. I just can't see us eating 2 counter meals each day we are there. Oh, and no character meals; my son isn't interested in that. So, is the plan a good value, even if
  18. You guys are so funny! Thanks for all the replies. We are super excited about our first trip and I have zillions of questions! :)
  19. Newbie here... first trip to the Fort is this June/July for 12 nights. We will be in our pop up and have a porta pottie. I thought I had read somewhere (and I did a forum search ) that the Fort doesn't have a dump station and all I could think was "What??? Really???" So, how do you guys clean your potties?
