  1. I just called back to the Jellystone in Cosby to check about group rates. He said that they may be able to do a discounted rate, but will not know until the fist week in September when the new rates come out and the booking of sites for the next year opens up.

    Currently the rates are:

based on 2 People with a charge of $3-$4 per person

    • $32-$49 Streamside W/E & W/E/S/CATV
    • $60-$159 Cabins
    • $25-$38 Tent Sites
    • $39-$59 Premium Sites

Also they do charge an additional rate for the Holidays. The actual fee and dates it will apply to will not be known until the first week in December.

  2. Thanks, I gave them a call had some time. I did call the ABC (Adventeure) and got rates. We will have to act fast if we want reses in the area. That week is what is good for a lot of us, because of vacation days. We might have to go to one of the bigger CG. See what you can find out. If you want to call the one Dave went to Jellystone in Townsend (I think) might be a good idea. Again thanks for helping

The Jellystone that Dave stayed in was in Cosby (same area that Smoky Bear Campground is). I just got off the phone with a gentleman there. Here is what he had to say:

    1. Yes they can accomodate large groups, but they cannot look availability or begin booking until the first week in December. At that time they will switch over to a new computer system.

    2. The have tent sites. Primitive and non primitive (W & E) which are streamside

    3. All different site sizes.

    4. They do have Cabins

5 Depending on the number of campers and the sizes of each camper would be how "close" we could be to each other. More specific information would be available when we book. He recommends doing that the earlier the better starting the first week in December.

DH's co-worker has stayed her many times before and recommended it to us. We just have never gotten the chance to stay there.

I'll check the Townsend KOA next.

  3. Just made a call to Smoky Bear Campground. Lorna, I guess you had already called them. Chong (the wife) is the one who handles the reservations. She came in while I was talking to Bruce. Here is what she had to say:

    1. How may people per site (children and no children)

    2. Specifically what dates.

    3. No Friday -Sunday reservation

    4. Recommends avoiding the last week in June and 1st week in July as people tend to book the entire week for a vacation that time as school will have just recently ended for many.

I need to get some more work done with my girls and will try another campground a bit later this afternoon.

  4. That's not just any tea. That's sugar with a little water and tea added.

I thought that was the way all tea was suppose to be made. :)

    It's Monday morning...rise and shine...home school day!

    This was the reply.

My students tend to have the same reaction when I tell them that same thing. :rofl2:

So I went out to do my usual under the awning thing.

This has been my favorite part of your trip report.

My banging and clanging around got everyone up and we were soon ready to head out for a theme park day.

Phew! Glad to know I am not the only one who uses that tactic to get everyone else up and moving. :rofl3:

Breakfast: rolls with butter, onions, poppy seeds, mustard, worcestershire sauce, ham, and swiss cheese. Love these things! I made up two batches and froze them before we left TN, but some of the ice melted in the cooler and one of the batches got wet. :(

    That looks delicious!

Having a few minutes to spare, we sat down with our coffee.

That's a sweet picture of you both.

    Gretchen ready for "school."

Best thing about homeschooling No Shoes required!

  5. just looking up some campgrounds and posting links to see what everyone thinks, we have to make sure there are enough avail sites for us and a cabin for Kim (or a short bus for her to stay in lol)

    http://www.riverplan...om/location.htm

    http://smokybearcamp...om/events.shtml that's where Starbuc stays

http://stayriveredge.com/index.html this is where Jim stayed and we stayed there about 4 or 5 years ago. The front sites if I remember correct are close to the main road in PF, they are on a trolly stop, it was clean and at the end of town.

I am still looking so let me know what you think so far

We also stay at Smoky Bear. The comfort station there is immaculate. The campground itself is not that huge. There are a few cabins. I can call tomorrow if you want to check about a Grand Gathering for around the 4th of July. I know Starbuc was already planning to be there then. I had mentioned to DH that I wanted to go there. Just let me know what specifics I should ask. You can PM if you want.

  6. Ya know...I don't think we have any set rules. I'd say, at some point we decide what time to meet up for our first site. We can start at my site...which I'll post once we get there. And then if anyone else wants to host also we go there next. But if y'all want to just bring your own drinks that's fine too...there is a particular beer I want to share if I can get to the store in Nashville before we leave. But I don't want anyone thinking they can't participate that night if they don't have beer to share. Maybe we should just do it like a roving potluck, where we move wherever the mood strikes us, drinking whatever we find.

So, if you are camping at the Fort the night before Thanksgiving...you might want to lock up your coolers. :rofl3:

I wish we were going to be there. This sounds like instead of a "Progressive Dinner" it's a "Progressive Happy Hour"  :wine: :doublebeer:

  7. Wonderful Report. I have never seen the Epcot deluxe resorts before so, I really appreciated all the pictures you took.

Best Wishes to you and the CP! Not that I am rushing you or anything, but looking at the pictures of the two of you I could not help but think how blessed your children will be to have parents who seem to be able to find fun and joy even in the rain. :heartsmiley:

  8. LOL! You got poned by your brother!

Hey- it was great to see you and Missy again.

Thanks for the gift you gave me- I will be mentioning it a bit later in the report.

Also, the TCD twins reported to me that when they Trick-or-Treated at your site, you had special bags of candy made up for the Fiend kids. That made their night! That was a super-nice thing for you to do.

    Thanks!

Hey- I see the word Rum now, too.

I wonder what this says about you?

    (a) you have excellent powers of observation, or

( 8) you have a thing for rum.

    I think it's "b" isn't it?

    TCD

You forgot © I am a true fiend or

    (d) all of the above.

  9. One of the TCD twins was in charge of the camera at this point in our journey, and she thought it was important to take a photo of her new pillow pal, who had joined us for our trip: IMG_0288.jpg TCD

I have been anxiously waiting for this report. Now I don't know if it's because of all the talk about Stef's great punch or not, but I have to tell you that what really caught my eye in this photo was not the Pillow Pet, but the magazine article title itself. Maybe it was just the word Rum! :rofl3:

  10. Same reason why some parents allow their children to wear slippers (or bare feet) and PJ's to shop at wal-mart and some do not. It's your choice but I like Sensei's response

Ok this just made me laugh because last week I had to drop off my son for basketball practice at school one night and then I was going to have to meet hubby from the airport while he returned his rental car. My youngest DD asked if she could just wear her pajamas. I said sure as I was not planning on us getting out of the car. DH calls to say how far out he is (he had gone to Atlanta for work) and I told him I was going to take the girls to Walmart for a bit. We get over to the parking lot and the older DD looks over and sees her sister is wearing pajamas. I told them we couldn't go in or we might end up on the "People of Walmart" Page on the internet. :rofl2:

  11. God gave us instincts for a reason. If you are uncomfortable with it then go with your feelings.

I think Granny says it best. Always remember what is "right" for you is not always the same for others and vice versa. My husband and I tend to be stricter about things like this and he is even stricter than me. I have on occasion let the girls run over real quick if we are near the CS. Having the TT does help, but sometimes that bathroom is occupied and they just can't wait.
