  1. We lost our Elmo on March 7. We will no longer hear his happy barks when we say "Do you want to go to Disney World"? Our trip in September will be hard without him, but he is no longer in pain. My hubby insists that his ashes come with us. So we are going to find a special place for him in the MH.

  2. I'm lucky because my hubby does all of the work on ours. However, if we ever need to pay someone, I will keep the marine mechanics and the commercial dealerships in mind. The rv dealers can really rip you off.

It looks like the previous owner really took care of the motorhome and we went over it with a fine tooth comb, but you can't see through steel.

Will keep everyone posted and thanks for the advice

  3. We have a covered box that we keep under the MH. We also have a hanging shelf (like the shoe holders, but bigger) and it is hung from a removeable pole in the shower. Since my granddaughter is the only one that uses the bathtub (we use the comfort station at The Fort) it doesn't even have to be removed. Also, we renovated the back of our MH and put in a cubby that holds shoes. I tend to overpack in the shoe area and we usually travel with 4 adults. Sincer our MH is older, there isn't as much storage as the new units.

  4. We drove from Maryland to The Fort with our granddaughter when she was 3 months old and again when she was 6 months old. My daughter and son in law purchased a portable DVD player and she watched movies the entire trip. I think that really helped. Her favorite is Jake and The Neverland Pirates. Many people have said that infants don't recognize people, but when we took her to see Jake at Hollywood Studios, she was like a teenager that saw a star that they had a crush on. We will be traveling again is September and she will be 15 months old. I have a feeling that traveling with her when she was an infant will be easier.

  5. We lower the dinette and use one of the bed rails that slip under the mattress/cushion. My granddaughter was 6 months old when we were at The Fort in December. She moves around alot when she sleeps and she did great. We don't have a pop up, but our MH is a 1983, so it isn't nearly as roomy as the new ones. We tried the pack and play on the dinette also, but this worked better for us.

  6. I agree, I love looking down Main Street. It gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling. Magic Kingdom is still my favorite park. I could go there everyday and never get tired of it. On our last day at The Fort, I always make sure MK is the last park we visit and I sit in the back of the boat so I can continue to look at it. Can't wait until our September visit.

Lou, you are very lucky to be surrounded by the Magic of Disney!!!

  7. After reading this topic I decided to look at a campground in Ocean City, MD and they charge $86 per night for June to Labor Day for 2 adults. Additional adults are $12, kids 11 to 17 are $6 and you have to pay either $12 visitors. Also, you are limited to 6 people per site. Even with the price of gas, I would much rather go to The Fort.

  8. You can also walk from your campsite to the marina or outpost. We stay in the 1700 loop and that is what we do. That way we don't have to fold up the stroller and it's good exercise too!!!!!

We also take food and bottled water with us to the parks. That's one of the things that is great about Disney. There are some amusement parks that don't allow this.

We have never rented a golf cart. Usually we will walk or ride our bikes.

    Have a great time!!!

  9. While it might be different if you are staying in a tent or canvas sided vehicle, the only noise you will hear is the fireworks at 10PM. I have been coming to FW for over 30 years with and without a dog and never had a negative experience with anything related to K9's. For some reason I think the dogs pick up on it being a happy place and they behave accordingly.

I agree that dogs pick up that being at The Fort is a happy place. Our cocker, that recently passed away, was a barker at everyplace but The Fort. We would ask him if he want to go to Disney World and he turned into a different dog. His last trip was Christmas and he loved it.

We always stay in the 1700 loop and have never had a problem with piles of pooh or dogs barking all night long. In general, I think pet owners tend to be responsible.
