  1. We sold our 81 pace arrow and bought a 94 Newmar Kountry Star diesel. My DH absolutely loves it. We got it for a great price, but have replaced the floor, table and chairs with a dinette, sofa, barrel chair, driver chair, passenger chair, kitchen countertop and sink, cooktop, toilet, and mattress. I think that's it. We do all of the work ourselves. However, because of the work that needed to be done, we got the unit for about $30,000 under blue book value.

We love our Newmar. Also, Newmar has fantastic customer service. We have asked many, many questions and have always gotten a quick response. This really surprised us since we have an older unit and have no plans of buying a new one. We would contact Fleetwood and would never a response.

All that being said. It is definitely a personal choice. Just go and test drive a lot of units that are in the price range you are looking at. Then look at the used units. MH depreciate very quickly

  2. My DH and I are taking my Mom and Dad to The Fort on August 8. We will be there until August 17. My Dad is undergoing chemo, considered palliative, so it's really important that they have a great time. Mom and Dad took us on many trips to The Fort, so now it's our turn to take them. So, Fiends, feel free to stop by. We will be in a full hook up site and hopefully in the 1700 loop. Need to get my sign now!!!!!!

  3. Welcome!!!

I prefer the full hook up sites as well.  The 1700 loop to be exact.  We also travel with our dogs, Tigger (maltipoo), and Tinkerbell (schnoodle).  Our daughter, son in law, granddaughter and grandson usually travel with us too.

We use our bikes, walk, or use the buses.  From the 1700 loop it is approximately 1/2 mile to the outpost and the marina.  So, it's pretty centerally located.  The dog park is only a short walk as well.

Enjoy your stay at the Fort!!

  4. We stay in a full hook up look with AAA discount.

Eat our main meal in the middle of the day at the MH

Take sandwiches, snacks, etc into the park with us to eat at dinner time.  DH didn't like this concept at first, but last trip we traveled with daughter, son in law, and 15 month old granddaughter.  He got on board when everyone else was.  It worked great.  He was surprised to see so many people doing the same thing.

We also buy the AP and get 2 vacations out of it.  Last time we got 3 trips.

Son in law is an active duty Marine so we also buy our tickets at SOG.

We stay for 2 weeks.  My theory is that if we are paying for the diesel to drive 1000 miles down and 1000 miles back, we might as well stay for 2 weeks and get our money worth.

  5. I don't mind the coquina. We put a large mat in front of the MH door and we just wipe our feet. Also, our granddaughter likes to play in it. For us the sites in the 100, 200, and 300 loops are a little close for us. We prefer the full hook up loops and either walk, bike, or take the bus. We usually just ride our bikes to the outpost or marina.

  6. Continuing on.

Bring in the wrecking ball and use it on the Carousel of Progress.

Burn down It's a small world.

    Sink the Electrical Water Pageant.

    Bull doze Innoventions.

    Blow up the People Mover.

A disney trip wouldn't be complete without Carousel of Progress, It's a Small World, Electrical Water Pageant, and the People Mover. Guess I'm just old school when it comes to Disney!
