Our first family trip to The Fort was when our kids were 5, 3, 18 month. We were there for a week and had a seven day pass. Now, we bring out grandkids. On our next trip they will be 4, 3, 18 months. We will be there for 3 weeks and are getting the 10 day pass. Our grandkids live in California at Camp Pendleton and go to Disneyland. Even at this age, our granddaughter prefers Disney World in Pop-Pop's motorhome.
I would do the 4 day pass. Take advantage of your 2 year being free. When we take the grandkids, they take a nap. In the summer, we let them play at The Fort during the day and nap. Then we hit the parks about 4pm and stay until closing. They sleep late in the morning and avoid the hot weather. Luckily, you won't have to worry about that when you are going.
We are going over Halloween for our next trip. It will be the first trip with all 3 of the grandkids. At Christmas, we did Disneyland and California Adventure with them. We went to the parks in the morning and came back for naps and then went out again. Not sure what the plan is for our October trip. Our daughter is the type that takes the wait and see approach. We take it day by day and plan things on how tired the kids are that day.
By the way, welcome and I'm sure you will have a great time. We have stayed at South of the Boarder and Yogi Bear campgrounds in the past. We used to stay at a WalMart, but South of the Boarder is only $25 a night. It is a nice stopping point. Yogi Bear is nice, but it is only about 5 hours from home. We stayed there when we got a late stop and didn't want to drive all night long.
Have fun!!!

We watch them from the beach a lot, especially with the grandkids. Our granddaughter doesn't like the loud sound of the fireworks. In fact, she has earphones that we carry with us when we are going to be in the park for the fireworks. She definitely prefers them on the beach!!

There's already been talk on some other threads about who is going, so I figured I'd start an official thread. We're excited to finally go!

We made reservations, but we will have to tweek them when our son in law knows his schedule. I'm sure we will be there for Halloween, but not sure how much of our time will be before and after Halloween. Can't wait!!!

I'll join the Grand Gathering thread. Looking forward to meeting everyone!!!

Just book our trip for Halloween 2015. Got a full hook up site. We have the daughter, son in law, grandkids, and hopefully my Mom going. This is the first time our son in law has been able to go with us in 4 years because of deployment and military duties. So excited!! A week ago there wasn't available and now there is availability for all site levels. Go figure. Our oldest granddaughter, she will be 4, can't wait to trick or treat at The Fort. Hopefully a lot of fiends will be there too!!

Pretty cool!!!

What dates are you going?

We are thinking about visiting The Fort the middle of June. This will be the first trip since my Dad passed and we are bringing my Mom. Also, we are bringing my daughter, son in law, and 3 grandkids. My daughter and grandkids are coming to visit in May and my son in law will fly into Orlando for our visit. This is also the first time my son in law has been with us since he was deployed.
We are hoping to come for 2 weeks and I was wondering if anyone knows of any campsite discount available?
Thanks in advance

Also, The World of Color was awesome at California Adventure. My daughter said that usually the show is only about 15 minutes, but the Christmas version was about 30 minutes.
We were at California Adventure for New Year's Eve and it was very low key. Disney World definitely does a better job at New Year's Eve. At least that is my opinion.

We were in Disneyland and California Adventure December 29-31. I loved It's a Small World, the Haunted Mansion, and the Jingle Cruise for Christmas. Walking through the castle was cool too. There are aspects of Disneyland that I like better and aspects of Disney World that I like better too. The CM's at Disney World are much better in general.
My granddaughter, she is 3 1/2, loved ice skating at Downtown Disney. It was her first time on ice skates and can't wait to ice skate again. I don't think I can justify spending the money to go to Disneyland when I live in Maryland. We were visiting our daughter, son in law (a Marine), and 3 grandkids for Christmas. So, of course, we had to go.
We stayed at Desert Palms, which was about a 10 minute walk from the entrance. They do an annual passholder discount. So, they might do a CM discount as well. It had a full kitchen in it and was very nice. There was also breakfast that was included. The breakfast was awesome, eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal, muffins, donuts, etc.
The only downside to our trip is that it was really cold. I'm talking 38 degree cold at night and windy. However, we still had a great time.

I don't have any pictures because my son-in-law has all of the pictures on his phone right now. This was the first time that I have visited Disneyland and the Christmas decorations were beautiful.
It's a Small World was fantastic. It is totally decorated for Christmas. The Haunted Mansion was done in Nightmare Before Christmas. It's a shame that Disney World doesn't do this.
My daughter and son-in-law flew me out to babysit for the Marine Corps Ball and decided that I needed to go to Disneyland. We will be going again when my husband and I surprise that grandkids for Christmas. Will try and post pictures.

You can order a print by emailing him. That's what I did a few weeks ago. He will personalize it also.

What a wonderful story. She is definitely a keeper!!

You will love The Fort!! You don't need a golf cart, you can walk. If you are driving you can also bring your bikes and enjoy the fort that way. Have fun!!
-
I would arrive in the am. We have arrived after dark and it's not always fun getting the motorhome backed into the campsite. My husband is very good at backing up our motorhome, but he definitely doesn't like getting to The Fort after dark.

Welcome!!

OK, so I guess it's a waiting game. We are mounting our spare tire on the back of the motorhome and need a Fort Wilderness Tire cover. Hopefully they will make one big enough.
-
I need one for a 36" tire.
-
I'm so glad that the surgery was a success. Living in Maryland, we sometimes forget the amazing medical facilities that we have here.
-
What size spare tire cover does the Trading Post carry? Thanks!!!
-
Love the 1700 loop. The sites are large and not close together. Also, you can use 1 or 2 comfort stations.
-
Thanks, on my way today. My granddaughter loves Frozen!!

We painted the walls of our 83 pace arrow and they turned out great.
1. sanded the gloss off the walls
2. primed the walls
3. painted the walls
