  1. Now, we might actually be going to Parris Island on the way.  My daughter wants to look at housing before they are stationed there in the spring.  They have a campground, but the distance might be too fare to drive in one day.  We are thinking it might be a stretch for the grandkids.  Will keep you posted.  Thanks for the suggestions.  Looks like it might be green acres for the night.  That isn't too far a drive from Parris Island.  We are waiting to see when they are available for looking at the houses.

  2. Great trip report. We drive from Maryland and take 2 days. Usually we stop at South of the Border for the night. This year, who knows. We will have out grandkids with us, 4, almost 3, and 15 months. They love Disney as much as we do. Right now they go to Disneyland a lot because our son in law is stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. In the spring they will be back on the east coast.

Hopefully the heat will let up a little for you. When it's really hot, we don't go into the parks until about 4 and stay until closing.

My granddaughter, the 4 year old, doesn't like the loud fireworks either. In fact, it really scares her. She has ear protectors that are always taken to the parks.

    Have fun!!!

  3. Can't help you with the drive, we always fly.  However, the weather in California is great.  My daughter, son in law, and 3 grandkids are at Camp Pendleton.  That's about 45 minutes from Disneyland.  They go quite frequently and I have been 3 times.  They will be back on the east coast in the spring of 2016.  Our son in law will be Drill Instructor at Parris Island.

Have a save trip and tell the girls to enjoy their time at Disneyland.  Make sure they bring some of the magic from Disney World.

  4. Do you think there is a bigger problem with units on the partial hook up sites that shouldn't be there since most of the full hook up sites have been converted to premium sites? If we were only coming for a few days, I wouldn't mind paying the higher fee the premium sites. I have heard that the premium sites were designed for the larger units because they didn't want the sand. If that is the case, why are so many parked in the full hook up sites. I know, this is a little off topic.

  5. We have stayed at Walmart and always go on the site to verify that we can park there.  However, the past 2 trips we have stayed at South of the Border campground.  It's only about $25 per night and is easy on and off of I95.  It gives us a chance to turn off the generator and plug in the MH for the night.  It's clean, but not fancy.  Since we are only staying for the night that is all that matters.  We are coming from northern Harford County in Maryland.

  6. Sorry we couldn't make it this weekend.  My hubby started the MH and lights on the dash started flashing that shouldn't have been flashing.  The do not put in gear light was on, but it would go off and on when he jiggled the key in the ignition.  Bottom line is, we think it is the ignition switch.  Have a new one on order.  Hopefully this fixes the problem.  If not, hubby will continue to investigate.

  7. We leave bedding, linens, etc. in the MH.  Unopened food is kept in plastic containers with lids.  One time we didn't do this, we wound up with a very large field mouse in the MH.  It actually ate through the wall, heat duct, some electrical, and basically cost us a lot of time and money.  Since we live in farm country, we never leave any food that could attract mice.  We also use moth hangers in the MH and undercarriage.  This seems to help.
