  1. Awesome update are you planning on going to South Padre Island? I have heard its one of the best places in the USA for Sand Castles - Im not a water person - but I will spend days building sand castles!
  2. I just added that little beach to our must visit list. One of my fondest childhood memories is having a campfire on the beach (Fishers Island NY) - I desperately want my kids to have the same wonderful memory - Do you keep a list of places you want to visit? I have not given much thought to people disturbing my husband while he works at the campground - do you think I should have a sign he can put on the door or something? Thanks for all your tips BTW - you have been an amazing resource. Doing a test pack is a great idea!
  3. I swear there is a Gypsy gene - I have it - I know it. I always want to travel. Recently I have been thinking of our family as pilgrims - leaving our home - looking for a better place to settle down. Like your family if we like it on the road - we are going to stay on the road - we have no long term timeline. There is something about that is just so freeing. I essentially gave notice at my job yesterday - I should be scared - I’m not nearly as scared as I thought I would be. I hear you about the toys. For me shoes has been the most difficult culling experience so far - I don’t know how I am
  4. I thought Lake Tahoe was heaven until we saw Yosemite - you must go back once they open it up next year - dont wait until the waterfalls dry up though!
  5. I agree cnpsnana Yosemite is a must do for . . . everyone! Another great update - I have cleaned out the entire basement since you started this thread - you are keeping me motivated! Thanks!
  6. I'm not a Vegas fan - been there many times for work. Everyone has to go once though - just so they know its not that big of a deal. I brought DH out there last spring for his first time - we are not gamblers - so he was underwhelmed as well. We did do one cool thing that trip though - that I think families would enjoy: The Neon museum. http://www.neonmuseum.org/
  7. Beautiful pictures. You seem to move alot - Do you ever take advantage of monthly rates?
  8. How did I miss this TR! I am so excited you are doing this - excellent motivation for the whipperwhirl family to get these house repairs done! Hopefully a few months and we will be joining you out there on the road!!!
  9. Happy new year fiends - may all your snarky wishes come true.
  10. If anyone is still looking for an invite - PM me also - I have finally mastered whats going on there.
  11. Thank you so much for everyones advice and input. You would not believe the progress we are making. I have been boxing items, taging for a yard sale, fixing up the house - We have a realtor comming on Monday to give us the bad news about what our home is worth but I dont even care - as long as it sells and we can get out of here!
  12. Does anyone here belong to this timeshare of sorts? What are your feelings about it? Worth the money?
  13. haha - Whats funny is I already bought those for the kids stockings this year without even knowing - its meant to be!
  14. I guess thats why this works for us right now - this house has been good to us but it is in no way our dream home or in our dream town. I was crunching some numbers tonight - I am pretty sure we are going to be saving money by hitting the road for a while - thats pretty exciting.
  15. I was having the hardest time figuring out the pinterest website until this morning - and now I am hooked
  16. Selling off everything to go full time

  17. This is the best week to post crazy stuff on e-bay - lots of impulse purchase buyers out there in panic mode for the perfect gift. BTW Mr. Whipperwhirl - this is perfect.
  18. Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts and experiences about this idea - Unless something drastic happens we are hoping to launch the end of June. We told the kids so there is no turning back now! I am definately also leaning towards using an online school with parental support - I just like having the structure and guidance. We joined a group of other families online www.fulltimefamilies.com but their forum is not as active as this one - I will definately be looking for support and thoughts from my fiends.
  19. Im so glad I posted here - I had no idea there were other full timers with kids onboard - I will definately be in touch with questions. Both my husband and I read a book on the subject today - still excited about it - so inspired by all the blogs we are finding online. Lots more research and planning to be done - but I dont see us turning back now - my mentality about everything is already shifting.
