  1. So, I have another idea for a craft.

Have you seen the bleach t-shirts that folks are making?  They block off an area of a tee shirt (some use contact paper, some just use heavy paper), then spray a mixture of 50/50 water and bleach on the tee.   Once dry, they remove what they used to block part, and the design stands out.

I am already thinking this would be cool with Peter Pan, possibly flying over the London skyline.  Also, Pooh and Piglet, walking hand in hand.

I was wondering how this would look with a Musket Mickey.

This is the sort of thing I mean: http://www.sixsistersstuff.com/2012/01/diy-bleach-t-shirt-tutorial-perfect.html

I am so not crafty but I could totally do this.

  2. Back on topic because I forgot to say I agree with others. The rooms look nice but nothing would justify me spending that kind of money. I will admit though I don't like hotel rooms which is why we have a trailer. I prefer to have my own little room, I feel much more relaxed in a campground than in a hotel room any day. Unfortunately we have a 10 day trip coming up and the trailer is staying home. Sigh! I really do dislike hotel rooms.

  3. You forgot the part where you get there at 10pm after driving through a snowstorm, dig out the plow truck, lug all your stuff up the hill (including 7 gal water jugs), shovel a path to said outhouse through 3 feet of snow, then sit on the couch with all your outerwear on while you wait for the stove to crank up and get the temperature above freezing (and occasionally above zero), then heat up water for your hot water bottles to thaw out the mattress so you can go to bed.

    Ahhhh... good times!!

(seriously, they really have been very good times)

I must be a glutton for punishment because this sounds far better than desert living any day.

  4. To answer the question about what is in NY worth going to, well it was Niagara Falls, we hadn't taken the kids there for awhile and we have been doing lots of mini weekend trips because we are taking the oldest off cross country to college this week.

I am hoping we can make it to the Fort in February but we've had so many extra expenses lately and I just don't know if it will happen. I will most likely just get a decal, that way it won't fall off or get stolen. Thanks for not saying something like "it's just a stupid magnet" because I know it is, I just hate theft except for theft of terms like "jerkalope" which I stole from another friend. ;)

Edit: Woohoo!!! This is my 100th post!

  5. I realized when we got home from our last camping trip to NY that my Fort Wilderness car magnet was gone from my car. I have several other magnets that are still there so I am certain it was stolen. People can be jerkalopes. Trying to decide if I should just invest in a decal or get a new one next time I go. I just don't get theft, why take something that doesn't belong to you.

And my suburban just looks naked now   :'(

  6. I have to wonder if Disney is reaching the saturation point with Frozen.  I know people are still going crazy buying the merchandise, but how much do they invest long term?  For example, the other day my wife went in to see American Adventure.  We got there just as the Voices of Liberty were starting.  Part way through the performance, they mentioned that Disney has many well known songs, and they will sing one of them, "Let It Go" from Frozen.  There was an audible groan from the crowd when that was announced.  The Voices of Liberty did a great job with the song, and there was polite applause afterwards, but I have to wonder if Frozen is getting into too many areas; to the point where people are getting tired of the over exposure.

I also wonder how they will integrate Frozen into the World Showcase, yet still be able to maintain the purpose and atmosphere of the World Showcase.  What would be next, a Mulan movie in China, Beauty and the Beast replacing the movie in France?  Replacing the show in the Biergarten with a Snow White sing along?

Time will tell, but I just hope this doesn't change Epcot, which over the last several years seems to be losing their direction, much like Hollywood Studios.

    This so much.

While we did go to the Frozen meet and great when we were there in January it was still very much Norway with a little bit of Frozen. I have always loved that Epcot is not very Disney-ish. It has all the perks of Disney, the cleanliness and the amazing service but it's not super character-y. We love the world showcase and I would be sad to see that changed. I really hope they aren't closing down Malstrom to change it, sure some upgrades would be great but please don't change it into Frozen.

  7. Some of these are great but my husband is not a fan of making "improvements" to our trailer. We plan on moving up from our hybrid to a class C sooner rather than later and he'd like it to be original. So because of that I have become friends with lots of 3m hooks. We have one blank wall back by the boys beds so I put up four hooks to hold an over the door shoe holder. I have clutter and this way all the kids little crap (cells phones, games, glasses, etc) go in there. I also put up hooks for their bags. I put up those mounter bowl and plate dispensers but put them up with 3m velcro strips. They work well. Yes it's wasteful but I hate doing dishes when we are vacationing.

  8. Must have been in Jan?

And that's why I warn people that going to WDW during the winter is a crap shoot.

There were a couple of weeks in Jan where it was pretty chilly during the day for a few days.

Yep, it was unseasonably cold this winter all over the country. We were fine though, we came prepared with a little heater to supplement the heater in our unit. We have a hybrid so it can get chilly in the tent ends but we stayed nice and toasty. Funny though it was only cold a couple of the days, there were also days in the 80s so the kids were able to swim. Winter weather is unpredictable. We always bring lots of variety in clothing. But as I said I'll take a cold day over a hot day, I can always add another layer and no one wants to see me take a layer off, except for my husband.

  9. Great stuff!

Let me guess... did your son wear that Stitch hat the entire time?  8)

I need to pester my parents.  I'd love to see if there's a photo of me walking around with the invisible dog.

(of course I was not exactly a kid at the time  LOL)

He wore the hat the entire trip, then he wore it for another two months, he even slept in it.

  10. I don't mind rustic camping, many National Parks and State Parks don't have hookups so it's not an issue. I was thinking this place would be great until I saw $10 per shower per person, no way in freakin' heck would I pay $10 for a shower, that would cost me $70 for my family.

Showers: At present, Aviator Sports Center has a shower facility open to campers from 8 AM - 10 AM. Cost is $10 per person, paid at the front desk. From there campers will be escorted to the shower facility. Campers must show their camping reservation confirmation and must provide their own soap and towels.
