  1. Fun. My parents go there all the time, have some friends that have houses down there (St. George's island) and go fishing. We will be there around thanksgiving.
  2. No knowledge of secret ways. Bob gave me a detour around Dothan that I plan on using, but other than that I was just gonna be following the map. Any suggestions of better ways are welcome.
  3. Made our Hoop Dee Do reservations (180 days out from arrival today). We decided on arrival day at fort, 3 days at parks, day at fort, 2 days at parks. HDD dinner on Thursday, May 1. Only second time I have planned a meal that far out. Other time was dinner at Cinderella's castle for my daughters 6th birthday last time we went.
  4. I have a MDE account and can see my reservation, but the only thing I can see about the bands is linking them. Nowhere can I see how to order or customize. We are still 181 days from arrival so I may be way early, just thought I would check after reading this thread. Also says I am outside the window for fast pass+ (whatever that is, still have to read up on it), what is the window?
  5. Just went out to trailer to look at the battery wires, I have the two wires coming off the positive and one off the negative. One of the wires off the positive goes directly to the break away switch, the other goes to the converter. The one that goes to the converter has a in-line 30 amp blade fuse in it. I am thinking that instead of installing a disconnect switch I can remove that fuse and accomplish the same thing. I do not have to remove the battery box top to access the fuse.
  6. You can also get one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Camco-36143-Brass-Quick-Connect/dp/B002XL2IEA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3JJTS9VP7F02J&coliid=I1F5N7FIC70RCP And make it a one person job, just hook the hose directly to it and turn the compressor on. As stated, be sure to limit the air, don't wanna pump in 130 psi and make your pipes into balloons. I read to make sure you use a type of inline filter on your air hose, like ones used on paint sprayers. This keeps any oil/gunk that may be in your compressor from getting into you water lines. You then have to get a few fitti
  7. This is what I am leaning towards, compressed air. The issue is not so much the winterizing process, it is more of "de-winterizing" when we want to head out in the winter. My + on the battery has two wires coming off of it, I think one is red one is green. I am sure one goes directly to the break away switch, the other powering the trailer, just gotta go look at it.
  8. The chill is in the air and I am starting to do my research about winterizing the trailer. I have read many other forums and articles but I am not a member anywhere else, so I am going to ask the question here. How many here use compressed air vs. antifreeze? Or a combination of the two. I am pretty confident on the process of each (went out to blow air thru the system the other day just for fun). The trailer has the water heater bypass and a winterizing tube already installed. The antifreeze method seems easier, the only thing make me hesitate for that is when the mild weeks come around and
  9. I screwed up the quote feature but I am guessing you disapprove of the double stroller.
  10. Can anyone recommend a good griddle for camping? I am wanting one to plug in and use outside of the trailer to cook breakfast on.
  11. Oh yeah, and congrats to Kelly (sorry I left that out before). Also, thanks for your family's service to us!
  12. I'll jump in and ask a question on this (not a hijack, relevant to the advice given). I infer from other post that you do or have driven professionally. What tire pressure do you recommend for towing? The max listed on the sidewall of the tire or the recommended pressure on the car door sticker? Pretty new to towing large stuff myself and there are all sorts of opinions out there.
  13. I can attest to this. When my family and I stayed at Kidani Village 2.5 years ago, it was our first family trip to Disney and we were very tempted. Then we started looking at the money and the "points" and realized we were not buying a spot in Kidani for a week stay whenever we wanted. So now we have a 26' TT for 10k less than the buy in, we can camp whenever (and wherever) we want, and we are staying for 7 nights at the fort for less than what it cost for one night at KV (and that's including the 40% military discount used at KV). But, man do they make the experience look great.
  14. Thanks for those links, I remember now reading the first one last month. I really just want someone to tell me, "they will let a 6 year old in." My kids would love it.
  15. It is a small compound bow they are shooting now, same kind they will hunt with.
  16. I am thinking about what all we want to take advantage of when we visit the fort and I am wondering about the archery. I am teaching my children the basics of archery, but it is basics only (I hunt with a bow but have no training). So, when I read about the archery at the fort I am wondering how good the instructors are, I am sure there are some here that have done it. Is it worth it? Also, I have read two different ages on other sites and in books. Some say minimum age is 6, others 7. So which is it? Both my children like to shoot the bow but my son will only be 6 when we go, my daughter wil
  17. Trenton, GA was halfway between my hometown (Anniston, AL) and my grandparents (Harriman, TN). I experienced many a car-swap at the chevron there when I was a child. I'll have to look up the camp ground and see about taking the travel trailer there.
  18. Just watch the Duck Dynasty episode from Wednesday and you will know when meat has gone bad.
  19. We are too! More appropriately, I should say my wife does. I pitch in with some science, math and geography. Also, morale support. It's great, allow us to go to the Fort (first time next april) when everyone else in in school. Headed to the beach for a week this Saturday.
  20. We have a 2012 Jayco 26BH, great trailer. Our first on and bought it without a whole lot of research. I know, maybe not the smartest, but the trailer has worked out great. At first I was thinking smaller and that we wouldn't need the couch in it, but we use it all the time, better than the dinette being the only seating. My biggest criteria (besides weight) was that I wanted two separate sleeping areas, without the need to make a bed out of the dinette or sofa. I am starting to push the weight limit of my truck (very close), but am fortunate to be able to use my father-in-laws dodge 2500. I ne
  21. Well, only a thumbnail pic. Can't figure out how to attach a large one.
  22. I have been wanting to figure out a way to display a flag at our campsite. I have seen the PVC constructed flagpoles but wanted to try something a little different (no PVC). I saw the "flagpole to go" on amazon and came up with this idea. Total cost was about $49 at Lowes, including the flag (which was $25 of the total). I just hope the bent EMT can hold up under the weight. I will put it under my jack stand instead of the weight dist hitch. Not good with this adding a pic thing, has taken me a while.
  23. Thanks for all the replies. I should have mentioned that we Akershus at Epcot when we were there last in addition to cinderella's table. All the princesses a 6 yr old can take, well almost. I talked to my wife and we may skip the character meals this time with the exception of the hoop dee do revue (I know, no characters), we hear that is great fun. Looks like we may do breakfast at trailer, lunch at park ( counter service), cookout dinner at trailer. Only 7+ months to change our mind.
  24. I was just reading another thread, kept mentioning BOG. What is that?
