Optional unless enough dont take them up on the offer. I have heard the system had some kind go glitch that allowed the overbooking to happen. Another version is they are trying to spread people a bit more and may not have enough people to maintain the Fort but I don't believe that one as much.

But they are moving people to Riverside for the three nights. Covering parking and pet fees, Comping 3 nights for future use, and they can still come to the Fort for Halloween and the festivities.

That was all taken from someone that posted in a facebook group just a little while ago who called on their own and took the offer.

Saw this one.  What was her name....Nancy, I think.  She was on a fb page and told me/others that Disney had overbooked, that they were not going in any particular order (for example, those who booked last month are being called before those who booked last year) and that they would either do this until the numbers balanced or there was a chance when guests arrived, that there would not be a spot for them.  Insane.

No one has called us (I imagine you would be the one calling me...?).  We have crazy pup Simon and a rig, so not as easy for Disney to entice as (for example) a family in a tent with no pets.

  2. Someone on a fb page posted a "site decoration rules" card, that apparently was handed out to him at the Fort.  The last line said, "Giveaways of any kind (e.g. food, candy, toys) are prohibited."

    Seriously?!

I know that they said this last year and that folks still made it happen but really... are they playing that line again this year?!

No, we did not have to pay extra, but because of my son's very limited ability to wait in lines and his inability to understand why we stand in Guest Services for such a long time while we are setting up his pass (he is 20, non-verbal, and has the abilities of a young child) means that we would use an admission day, just to set up his pass.  With an annual pass this was not an issue-when paying by the day it is.

Okay... I understand.  I was thinking that Disney was trying to squeeze out more money.

Here’s something that will make you even madder- Disney is once again siphoning off profits from WDW to balance out the losses from their other parks. At WDW, even with the 50th anniversary approaching, they shut down everything during the pandemic. So Epcot still is a torn up mess, and the completion of the new Tron attraction and the reopening of the railroad have been delayed indefinitely. Meanwhile, at Disneyland they completed a refurbishment of their Snow White ride, made a bunch of improvements around both parks, and opened a whole new land- Avengers Campus.  The Disneyland Halloween party at California Adventure includes a complete parade, fireworks, and much better decorations. Disney knows WDW guests will accept a watered down experience while paying premium prices because that’s what they’ve always done. Disney always wins.

This is all so stupid.  Sorry, I know that's an illiterate response... but I'm just so sick of it.  I have my memories and I want the magic to stay.

    Stupid.

Replace the word guest with customer, and this applies to most any corporation.  Corporations exist to maximize two things;  shareholder return and executive compensation.  Why is it so difficult for so many of us to accept that Disney stopped being the magical company that Walt built and became a ravenous, money sucking corporation?  This literally happened decades ago, and yet we still somehow want to believe that they are somehow "different".  They're not.  Maybe they were still a bit different a decade or so ago, at least from a customer service standpoint.  But I don't think that was because company leadership demanded it, but because there were still legacy CM's at WDW that cared.  But by now, I imagine most of them are gone, and have been replaced by folks hired and trained by the current management.  I bet a lot of them went to work there because they have good memories of the magic, and want to be a part of that.  But they're working in a system focused on profits, not magic.  That's got to be depressing.

I agree... when you loose those who know how to provide service... everything changes.  I've said that for the past couple of decades with stores and car dealerships.  Sales used to be a career that you were proud to dedicate your life to.  You knew your product, you knew your consumer.  In most places, that is long gone.... and that is incredibly sad.

.  Even without the price increases, the current parks experience is awful.  Hardly and shows, no parking lot trams, poor crowd control, long lines, price gouging on food, no Fastpass.  It’s just not nearly as fun as it used to be. It’s very sad- especially for anyone who remembers how things used to be.

Ugh... I know this in my head... but it's still hard to hear :(

As far as I know they havent released any information yet that I have seen anywhere. We probably wont know more until the beginning of October at least. The cart parade was back for the 4th I believe so I suspect that will be back. Also (disclaimer this is just my opinion not information) since they are handing out candy at the After Hours event I suspect they will allow it again for Halloween. Even if they don't I expect people will still set up tables with bowls for candy similar to the ones that did it anyway last year. Again all opinion and my thoughts.

Thank you.  Yes, I know... seems like everything can change at a moment, which is what's so hard.  Mom and dad are still trying to decide if they want to come down.  Mom's health is so rough, but she desperately wants another memory at Disney (or to give the kids another memory).   They would want to do a park for a day or two, but there is very little her body can handle (ride wise) and I was watching some videos on the DAS I think it's called?  This would be the first time we've even considered that at WDW (mom has always said no, to any sort of assistance because she always said there were people in worse pain than she or people that couldn't walk and she still could... but now we're at the point that this has all changed :().... but it looks like it's more of a disability "fast pass" (not sure how to word it), where you can only sign up for one ride and then (once you've waited sitting somewhere rather than in line), you come back and they put you on... then you can try for another ride?  I'm not sure.  Don't even know if there are only a few rides that this even applies to.  I have no idea.  Her back was on its last straw about 2 years ago, before the rona, and they did a day at Disneyland with my aunt and uncle.  She only rode a few rides, but they didn't have to do anything special, a CM simply pointed them to the designated ramp/line and they were able to walk on with maybe a 5 minute wait... which is such a blessing when you live in pain.  This is why I desperately wish Disney would bring back ride tickets.

  7. We have a trip planned for halloween and into the month of November.   I know that last year, the Fort tried to say no to trick or treating, but that families said yes.  I'm hoping this year, that the golf cart parade will be back.  Does anyone have any info on this?

Also, for the first time in my life... we are considering Universal park tickets instead of Disney.  Crazy for me to even say that, but I'm sick of where our country is at with the fear mongering and ridiculous policies that present little (if any) in regards to "health".  Universal does not require you to cover your face.  You may, if you'd like to of course, but they are not requiring you to do so.   It's all so exhausting.  Anyway, that may be where we are at.

As for the Fort and halloween... does anyone have any information?

    Thanks, Fiends.

The price and limitations on all tickets has gotten outrageous.  We live out of state and generally hold annual passes, but did not have active ones when the pandemic hit.  Consequently, for our 21 day stay in the campground in August we bought 10 day tickets which we could not even use at any time during our stay.  We prefer to spread our park days out.  To compound this we have a son on the severe end of the autism spectrum who literally did not leave the house for 18 months because he does not tolerate wearing a mask. Nor can he understand the question, "what do you want to do several months from now 900 miles away?"  We fully understand that his limitations are ours to bear, so we made the decision to buy his tickets on the daily basis as he requested a park.  We also knew that we would have to function without a guest assistance pass because waiting in line and getting that to happen exceeds his tolerance and we are done in the park for that day - I could not financially justify buying a ticket to have his needs accommodated and frankly, do not believe I should have to do so.  I was so proud of his patience and happy that he could keep his mask in place to at least experience some of the attractions.  Now with the newly announced annual pass prices which you must pay an upcharge for water parks and photo pass, Disney has probably priced us out of that market.  A very sad day for our family.....

I’m sorry, trying to understand... you have to pay extra for a guest assistance past (I’m guessing that’s the handicap accessible type pass)?

Agree with you on the pricing...it’s awful 😞

They typically don't do much. My Dad retired after 60 years of military and federal government service. The office  threw him an afternoon party plus gave him a nice parting gift. He received an official letter and a flag that had flown over the White House from his representative in the House due to the office chief suggesting it. The flag and letter were the only official government retirement items. Everything else was the other people in the office chipping in to see Dad off.

    60 years.  Wow.  That’s amazing ❤️🇺🇸

At least you got a watch!  After 35 years with the Post Office I got a folder with a letter saying thanks.

That’s wrong.  A lifetime of commitment.  While I understand that none of us works for free, there’s something to be said about the value of a career, value of time dedicated.  It’s unfortunate that that was the way they let you leave 😕

Well said!!  We went earlier (February) this year. I didn’t like the masks but we played along. It had been a rough year for many reasons and we needed the escape. Control is the issue and America is on the precipice sliding toward more and more governmental control. Sad. Praying for a turnaround and for common sense to return
I recently read an article (WESH 2) about the Orange County tax collector’s office.  It was requiring its employees be vaccinated because having non-vaccinated employees who could spread Covid 19 to the vaccinated was an unsafe working environment.  Wait a minute, if the vaccine works how can the vaccinated get it and if they can get it, then they could potentially be the spreaders, right?  Where’s the logic?

    We too are praying.

Yep.  Either it works or it doesn't (understanding that nothing is 100%, but an effective vaccine will be up there).  The same as with requiring the shot, to protect those who did not take it.  What?  Why would that even be a goal?  There is no shortage of this shot and each person who wants one, can absolutely get one.  So having to "protect" the non-vaccinated is a bs excuse.  Additionally, what about natural immunity?  This seems to have no weight which is completely absurd.   Even if you've had the virus, recovered and now have natural immunity apparently that's no good and you should still take the shot.  What?!

The children:   With the last census on record, our country had 60M that are 17 and under.  The census of 2020 (that report is slated to be out in September), projections are coming in at over 70M that are 17 and under.  So.. even if we stick with the 60M, do you know how many deaths there have been in those 60M?   Less than 400.  A child has a greater chance of dying in a car crash.  But yes, let's cover their face, restrict activities (because if we don't fight, that's coming again) and shove a needle in their arm... a needle with something that has no long term studies, but one which VAERS is showing adverse reactions to (yes, all vaccines can experience this, but my point is why risk it with children??).   I only know all of this, as I pulled up the latest stats yesterday.  Additionally... did you know that ages 49 to 18 represent 72% of all covid cases, but only 4.8% of the deaths   The CDC is reporting 114.6M cases of covid and 163.3M fully vaccinated.  That's 277.9M  that have been exposed, but they want to continue to push fear and control.  Even if some who had the virus still took the shot, I can't imagine that number is more than 20M.  This takes us down to 257.9M that have been exposed, but then you add another 40M (adjusted for 12 and over) children who cannot/should not get the shot and that puts us at a number of 297.9M out of roughly 331M people.  What in the world?!   What our government is doing is insane and it needs to stop.

But, that's okay... because they'll just keep printing monopoly money and Americans will stay home with their Neflix and Amazon deliveries.  Paper money that has the same value, as what you can print out yourself at home.... the only difference (for some reason), is it's not illegal for the federal government to do it.   Again (sorry mods), I'll jump off now as I know this topic is not under the debate forum ^_^

We may not visit again until masks are not required again

    Praying everyone stays safe

We have plans to go for two weeks, the beginning of November.  We too will not return if masks are required.  Masks have always been about control (which we can take to the debate forum) I say this only to point out that now that the shot has been pushed, nothing will change because change means giving up control.   Boosters will be required and they will push for papers (passports).   America is at a dangerous tipping point.

    But yeah... not going back.

I will admit, this mama broke down last night when I saw the announcement.
