Actually both.  They gave the County the steps they would follow in order to re-open and what would be done as this all progressed. The County had to approve it and then sent it to the State for approval.  The same for DL, they had numerous meetings along with Universal and KBF in Calf to reopen at the end of last year to no avail.

There is no way Disney is intentionally letting numerous Resorts sit unused if they could open. That would be an absolutely stupid business decision if they wanted, as Andrew said, new money there is too much demand as people have had enough of the CDC and Washington's BS.  Here's the link to what is open and what is to open later this summer.

I thought that DeSantis had lifted things last fall... went back and found this from September.  The EO in on the Florida gov site.

Then what am I missing?  There are complaints by people trying to book Resorts and DVC saying they get a message,  "There are days during the dates selected with no Park Reservations available, please check other dates". That means they are not being given unlimited access or priority.

Based on everything I read WDW is trying their best to give both AP and the short term guests balanced access.  What else can they do?

Disney can open it's parks and resorts, to full capacity.  They can bring back all castmembers and stop trying to squeeze every last dime from their guests, to fill the pockets of the execs.  They can stop requiring the guest cover their faces, so that many (like our family) might consider coming back.  That's what they can do.

  3. The old barn will be missed... but the new barn in stunning.

That's what happens when you no longer have actual reporters/journalists.  They are all now copy writers.  No looking for the facts anymore...

    Off my soap box.......

True journalism is hard to find anymore... it left our country a good decade (if not two) ago.  Now it's all about the number of views:  sensationalism/fear brings those in.  Facts do not matter and we've gone from a society where apologies are issued (when false or poor information is given out) to glazing over with absurd justifications.

NaCole, David and I have had such long discussions about this ... we are convinced this has evolved into not a political or societal issue but rather a spiritual one.  When we finally get to see each other again, I'll explain!

Oh my sweet friend, I agree completely.  The evil we are seeing in our country, is most definitely a physical sign of a spiritual battle.  I am praying for our country and for the globe.

Is our country like this from the Atlantic to the Pacific?  Are we a shell of what we once were?

Sadly, Gwen... yes.  Millions in our country have handed over their freedoms and liberties, in exchange for fear.  Common sense and educated reasoning has been replaced with mindless belief in the main stream media and many in our government.  A virus with a 99.9% recovery rate for an overwhelming majority of our population.  A belief that covering our faces not only does any good, but that it’s only about a virus.  Businesses ran for generations by families, destroyed because we allowed those “in control” to have too much power.  These same people will do as I’ve said for almost a year now... continue to force more control, they will push to mandate a vaccine that will be incredibly dangerous (have you seen the proposed bill in NY?!), continue to drive out the middle class and push billionaires to an even higher status (keep in mind this last “stimulus” gave MILLIONS to Walmart, a company that reported a gain in 2020 over their 2019 earnings).  Unless we (Americans from both major parties) recognize that elections are not honest, that our vote can be pushed aside...then our republic is lost.

If Americans do not wake up, if those living in fear do not step out and realize that they are being lied to, our country will crumble quickly into a totalitarian society.  It will happen and our children and grandchildren will pay a gut wrenching price.  If 2020 showed us anything....it showed us just that.

Love you, Gwen.  I’m sorry to jump in on a trip report....man, we miss the Fort...we desperately miss the innocent days of our greatest “problem” being how we’d get a reservation or make rope drop...we desperately miss our country.

    Thanks, Rennie!

What nice weather, Gretchen?  I had to wear a sweatshirt even today.  It's much too cold here for me, and next week is gonna be just awful.  If i wanted to be cold, I could have stayed home!  But at least I'm at Disney.

Rode around the Fort this afternoon.  Lots of people left today, more leaving tomorrow.  Around 2/3 of the people I saw were NOT wearing masks, and no one was enforcing it..  Hand sanitizer is indeed everywhere.

    Exhausted.  Goodnight, all.

Site 706... enjoy!  Seems like our time with you in the 700 loop, was a lifetime ago.  I hope your trip is fantastic.    Happy to hear that folks are not wearing masks.  Masks inside do not work at containing virus particles so that's irritating enough, but masks outside make absolutely NO sense.   Either way, I know you both love it there so... ENJOY.  Miss you ❤️

I agree keep your mask on or stay home rules are rules.

While I don't disagree.... I don't believe that this gentlemen knew the extent of the rules.  Unlike some on this forum, he does not stock Disney or the Fort's activities/policies.  He was invited to join some friends who have a rig. He would not have checked in, but rather gone through the gate.  My friend is a retired professional and not one to purposely buck the system.

Do the cart and exercising mask rules make sense?  Maybe, maybe not but it’s Disney’s property and Disney’s rules and if you can’t abide, don’t go.

No, of course they make no sense, which is why I'm not sure (as I stated above) that he realized that the idiotic rule of covering your face applied to riding your bike.

Hi guys Well we had our cruise cancelled for the end of this month. So when we rebooked, lost the room we prefer.  We didn’t get to renew our Florida annual passes. But we still are coming the first week of December. Two questions, can you still fax site request? Also have they relaxed on the mask mandates when riding around on your golf cart? We have a 4 year Autistic grandson who will not wear a mask. So he won’t be going into parks. So now we are concerned about going to the park or even riding around in our golf carts looking at the Hooday decorations. Thank you in advance

Update as of November 11th:  We have a friend staying at the Fort right now; he has been stopped by a CM twice and required to put a mask on.  The first time he was riding in a personal golf cart (so not a Disney rental) and the second time, he was exercising by riding his bike.   Just got back on to let you know that as of today, they were enforcing that you cover your face.

I'd be concerned about taking your grandson, unless you're prepared to stay at your site.  While they might not say anything, until they drop the mask mandate who knows what could happen.  No doubt it would be very upsetting if you get there and find that they have gone back to strictly enforcing this rule.   I've heard stories of CM stopping guests driving their own golf carts, riding their bike and even a guest walking his dog alone...all required to mask up.  Personally, I find it insane and we will not go back until the mandate is dropped.  I'm not going to put a mask over my children's face.   But, we're okay with not going back... this year we've traveled over 7k miles and spent time in 10 states (outside of the time we've spent camping in our home state of Georgia).  Not only did we not cover our faces, but we were looking at the other smiling faces around us.

Another thing to keep in mind, is I'm not sure if they've re-opened the playgrounds at the Fort??  If Disney has decided to keep those closed, and your grandson loves to play on them, he probably won't understand and it will be upsetting.   Not sure there, but just a thought.

They might not say anything... but if they do, it would be upsetting.    I hope whatever you choose, you're blessed with your time with your little guy.

I blame covid 19 for killing my dad. Even though he tested  negative for it. We were unable to see the bad care he was getting in a nursing home that he went in to for 30 days of physical therapy. He got a bed sore that started tunneling into him and since he was fighting prostate cancer there was nothing they could do for him. He passed away at the end of June and I don't think my mom will ever be the same. They had just had there 50th wedding anniversary in March.  There was supposed to be a big party, but due to covid it was postponed. Thank goodness my daughter made them a cake.

Oh Micheal... I am heartbroken for you.  I am so, so sorry for your loss.  I wish I had greater words.  I am so sorry.

    It is mind boggling.

Of course it's mind boggling... all of this, country wide, is mind boggling.   The damage done by shutting down our country is irreparable.  From businesses that took generations to build, but whose doors have now closed permanently, loved ones who have died alone in hospitals because family was not let in to advocate for them, loved ones who will die because they were either too afraid to see the doctor or their exam/procedure was deemed non-essential (case in point, by sister-in-law had to wait three months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer to have the tumor removed, because it was "non-essential"), to the substantial increase in depression and suicide rates, increase in addictions and domestic abuse.... the list just goes on and on.  Not to mention, the fear that has been driven down the throats of so many Americans.... even though the CDC admitted that tainted tests were sent out (resulting in false positives).  Even though the CDC states that a test is not necessary to diagnosis SARS-CoV-2, but that symptoms alone could be used to make a diagnosis... symptoms that are so wide spread that every viral infection on the books has at least one of the symptoms used to substantiate a covid diagnosis.  Even though the CDC director stated that hospitals had monetary incentives for reporting hospital admissions and deaths as covid (making the connection between symptomatic diagnoses and reported admissions and/or deaths very easy to see).  Even though the CDC has reported that only 6% of the "covid deaths" were deaths from the virus, the remaining 94% died with covid, not from covid.   Even though the CDC has come out to say that the overwhelming majority of the populations has a 99.9% recovery rate should they contract the virus and that those who are at risk are in a demographic of ages 70 and older.  A demographic that is retired as has the flexibility to stay at home and isolate, if they so choose.

Mind boggling does not begin to define what some in our country have been forced to do and what others have so quickly just handed over.

NaCole, AM I READING CORRECTLY?  ARE YOU GOING ON A CRUISE? And, yes, I meant to shout because I am totally shocked.

    Sorry...we’ve been in the road.

Yes, I understand the shouting...pretty crazy, right? 😄  Mom and dad want to take the whole family on a cruise, for their anniversary.  If we go, I may have to start drinking.  That and the poor pup will need to be drugged for 4 days 😕

  14. I'm so confused by all of this.  Our reservations are not until the end of Nov- beg of Dec and we have a 7 day ticket.  What I don't understand is Disney says they are limiting occupancy (now, I understand this is still several months out... but let's pretend that nothing changes between now and then)....   so if we wait to make a park reservations (is that what we're doing??) because we may not go to the Fort, if the cruise does not happen... so if we wait and then decide to go, but with occupancy restrictions, we can only get into the park for 3 of the 7 days... do we loose the other 4 days??   I just don't get it...

She will be sitting for a while longer.  We just got notification that our August 8th sailing has been cancelled.  Evidently,  they followed the guidelines of the cruise line association and have suspended sailings through mid-September.  I have a very disappointed 20 yo who saved for this trip for 2 years to celebrate his 21st birthday....

I'm so sorry.  I'm sure that news was very tough for him :(    Our cruise is scheduled for the first week in December, it's an anniversary trip for my parents and with my mother's health, she is concerned that if we don't go now, she will be unable to.   All that to say, I understand the disappointment and am so sorry for your (not so little) man.  I pray his birthday is blessed ❤️

From what I understand, me wearing a mask probably will not protect me from catching the covid-19 virus.  But If I have the virus and cough or sneeze, it will help other people a lot by keeping the germs near my face and they will not travel several feet from me.  Thereby helping keep others from catching this disease.

I have read what others have gone through when they have been sick with covid-19 and do not want to find out for myself if they are being truthful or not.

The only cure/help, as I see it, will be when a vaccination is available for those willing to be vaccinated.   Even though I know several people who don't get the flu vaccine I hope most of us do.

I've always carried a paper towel or napkin (honestly, if I still had my grandmother's...I"d carry a hankey), this allows me to cover any sneezes or coughs, which is the concern with any aerosolized virus, it's not the act of breathing in and out.

As for the vaccine, everyone will get that choice.  I'll have a problem if it's mandated however....I will caution because even the "experts" are not sure on the efficacy of a vaccine.  Actually, they say it may make the virus worse:

Because there is no cure. The flu has many treatment options.  It's a pandemic, its temporary and I'm surprised by your fear.

I am not fearful, I am angry.  There is a difference.  Of course there is no cure for SARS-CoV-2, it's a virus.  The same as influenza, there is no cure, only treatment options.  Treatment options are becoming more obvious with this current virus as well.  Doctors are now understanding that putting patients on ventilators is rarely the best course of action and that this virus may gain access through the respiratory system but that it is, quite likely, a cardiac issue.

If Disney says masks on and someone doesn't want to wear one, then they don't have to go.

Same as people saying that Disney is too $$$, if you don't want to pay don't go.

And Disney will need to enforce their rules (whatever they decide on).

I agree completely.  Even though I do not believe that masks are beneficial, believe it or not I do fully respect a private company's right to institute their own policies.  It's what makes me both a capitalist and a staunch supporter of our constitution and (more importantly) the rights outlined in that document.

What I do believe is that a bazillion dollar corporation like Disney is not sacrificing hundreds of millions of dollars of their bottom line because they're buying into any sort of hype of unfounded fear.  If they made all their business decisions based on popular opinion or social media, plenty of ideas they've put in place over the years never would have made it off the drawing board.

I believe I've made this comment before, but it's always about the money.  People with more money than we'll ever understand, have their hand in how all of this is being controlled.  Period.    Unless you're on the board of Disney, we will never know all the details, but I fully expect that Disney will receive some sort of federal aid (how every that might look), by staying close.  Additionally, they were looking to save themselves from being sued, by staying open and folks saying that they contracted the virus while visiting one of the parks.  It will be interesting however, to see how this all plays out.  Back in 2016, the media focus at that time was BLM.  I hated that movement and not for what it stood for (on the face of it), but for who stood for it.  I remember telling folks that BLM was a political move, that my African American friends (well, not them because most of them actually agreed with me), but African Americans in our country were being used as a political pawn.  When people started pointed out the possibility of protesters being bused from location to location and that they were being backed by those in favor of the democratic party, it was a called a "conspiracy theory".  All I said was, well... let's see what happens after the election.  We all know what happened after the 2016 election: crickets.  While discrimination does happen, the BLM movement was a smoke screen to try and get folks to vote a certain way.   It's interesting to watch the relationship between the WHO and countries that either embrace communism or totalitarianism... then watch to see how the CDC might follow.  Look at that, and consider those governors that are showing the greatest resistance against opening up their states and consider the election coming up.  It's all interesting (albeit dangerous) to say the least.

I understand that most of us have strong opinions, so I'm not going to continue to push the point.  I've had the opportunity to meet several Fiends and do truly consider those folks friends, so I am in no way meaning to upset anyone.  My deepest concern, is with what I see happening in our country, which is constitutional freedoms being trampled on.  That, my friends, is a very dangerous path.  The only thing I would encourage each of us to do (if not continue to do), is to thoroughly research on our own.  I'm not sure what everyone else has seen, but I have personally watched/had YouTube and FB remove videos/posts that they don't agree with.  Most of them are simply people stepping out and voicing concerns over what they've seen.  I'll link a video, from a senate judiciary hearing.  Before experiencing censorship first hand, I would not have given as much weight to this hearing... which I'll admit is pretty sad on my part.

With regards to Disney and masks, as I said above, they most definitely have the right to enact that policy.  People don't have to go, but we all know that there will never be a shortage of guests at WDW... masks or no masks.
