  1. The MB at the gates, at least the back gate, are working better than I expected. Twice now I have had the light go green by just having the MB in close proximity(about a ft), did not have to touch the "Mickey Head" reader. :)

Wish I'd had the same luck.  Last week they could not get mine to work with the gate at all.  Maybe they expanded the range.  I think they do need to turn the one on the front gate about 10% clockwise to make it more easily accessible.

  2. I wish they would eventually come out with a purple MB.  I'd pay for that one.

Becky wanted purple too.  I can't believe it is not a color offered, many girls love purple over pink.

I did get myself the Stitch upgrade Magic Band, don't think it does anything special, but I had to have it.  Becky got an Olof Christmas band, and when she uses it the Mickey head flashes white a couple of times and it says, "My own, personal flurry!"  That one is going to a friend who loves Olof.  We will get it signed by the princesses this week.

  3. I took some pictures today but they don't seem to want to upload to my photo site, modem is pulling a very week connection tonight.  I will comment that it looks to me that they are taking their time with this, so maybe you will see it at some point somewhere else.  I have seen some rides literally ripped apart before and scraped.  Even though this is not a ride, same idea here, it would be gone already.

  4. What you have to understand is that in the industry many parks don't really make money on the gate, so they basically give it away.  They would rather get as many people in the doors as they can so as to sell them food or merchandise in the park, where they really make their money.

A prime example is Six Flags.  My 2015 Six Flags pass cost me $55.  That pass gets me into every six flags park and gets me parking.  They are hoping that while there I will get a meal or too, maybe buy a t-shirt, maybe pay for an up-charge attraction.  Not likely, but I am not the average park goer (the average park goer hasn't ridden over 350 roller coasters).

Same with Busch (really, it is SeaWorld Entertainment, which is really owned by Blackstone, a European amusement park operator) to an extent.  They actually lean less toward giving away the gate than Six Flags.  My platinum Busch Gardens Williamsburg pass gets me in both the Busch Parks, the three SeaWorlds, their water parks and Sesame Place (a really cool little park, BTW) at about $200, and that doesn't include ChristmasTown at Williamsburg, which is still an up-charge, unlike in Tampa.  Still cheap though, compared to Disney.

Disney, on the other hand, prices about 80% of the American population out of going to Disney but once in every great while.  It makes sense for them, they still get plenty of patronage, but at the same time can concentrate on a better experience, and you pay for that better experience.

Really, though, the park that has it down is Knoebels, no gate charge, pay as you go, bring in your own food, never a line longer then 10 minutes, free shows, and still offers a great experience.  It all depends on what you like.

  5. We went back and forth on it and decided to rent a cart for 12 days from an outside vender.  They were half the Disney price, and after 10 days you get it for only $10 a day.

Originally the thought was that we would bring bikes, but since we are doing parks a bunch of days, and would be up early and out late, we figured the cart would just be easier then biking back and forth to the campsite, up to for times a day on a park day.  I think we have now even decided we are going to save the trouble and not bring the bikes at all, since we are unlikely to use them.
