Disneyland 60 Diamond Celebration

Recommended Posts

There has been tons of coverage all over the place of this week's 60th anniversary celebration at Disneyland.

Here's a cool slideshow of photos from around the time of the park opening in 1955...

Does anyone know how long the celebration will last? Is it going to end at the end of 2015?

Just curious?...

Nah, it will last much longer than that. It costs money to change out the "celebrations" to something else and change the signage, so they'll milk it as long as they can :)

Good news for those of you planning Disneyland trips in the next 12 months. The Disney Parks Blog has announced that the DL Diamond Celebration will continue for another year.  Anyone else having flashbacks to the "Year of a Million Dreams" that ended up being about 3 years long??  8)

For the past few months, we’ve been celebrating sixty years of the Happiest Place on Earth with the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration. Featuring the all-new “Paint the Night” parade, “Disneyland Forever” fireworks and “World of Color – Celebrate!” as well as special food and merchandise, the celebration has also brought a special sparkle throughout the Disneyland Resort – including a diamond-encrusted Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Today, I’m excited to tell you that the celebration will continue to dazzle guests through September 5, 2016. That means you’ve still got time to experience all the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration has to offer!

There have been countless moments of happiness here at the Disneyland Resort through the past sixty years … take a look at sixty seconds of happiness we’ve captured in the video below.

The timing of this must mean that they are happy with their bookings for the upcoming holiday season.

I honestly thought that they would wait until closer to the end of the year to announce the "extension."  That way, they could count on solid traffic from all the folks wanting to be sure to see the 60th anniversary stuff.

Now the pressure is off.
