  1. We saw some very young kids driving carts this trip. This always irritates DS because he got stopped last trip and he was 6ft tall and had a learners permit. This trip he had his drivers license and wanted them to stop him and check. Didn't happen :)
  2. We didn't even try our MB at the CS this trip. We were given two cards and used them with no trouble at the CS and the FW gates, but they didn't scan at the AK Lodge gates when we went for dinner. The CM there was very rude about them being blank and we had forgotten our MBs. No problem using the cards at the Poly gate. Consistency would be nice, though. It's a pain to have to carry both.
  3. I had one on our New Year's trip. It was at the kiosk/window on the right as you enter the Germany pavilion. I love it! My husband says it just tastes like fizzy grapefruit juice, but I think it it's a great beer (and I really like grapefruit). I had it last summer as well- it's really refreshing on a hot day.
  4. We were right across from these people, in site 1832. That car is hard to miss. They are always in one of the 1600-1900 loops. When we were coming back from dinner at 'Ohana and turning into the Fort, my kids pointed out the red flashing lights and wanted to know why Disney put a cell tower right next to the Fort where everyone could see it. They were really disappointed that it was a huge hotel (they don't like high rise hotels) and that they wouldn't at least get better service on their phones! I haven't seen the Parent Trap recently, but I was under the impression that the camping trip the
  5. We didn't have any problems using our MBs, beyond not being able to open the gate and comfort stations. We liked that we already had the FP+ so we didn't have to send a runner (usually me!) to get them. And we were able to ride Toy Story for the first time ever. We've never been willing to stand in line for it and for some reason, can never make rope drop at HS. However, I do wish we could have more than 3, and that we could use them in different parks. We hardly ever stay in one park all day. We ended up not using our KTTW cards to get regular FP, because the return times didn't work for us.
  6. I'm glad you had time for a trip for New Year's Eve! The weather was mostly good. We looped on 2000 and I know what you mean about the party tents and wild kids. We thought about requesting a move because of our neighbors, but we stuck it out. That's great that you got upgraded, and to such a nice site!
  7. We had to use Disney automotive assistance once. They were great! We brought the tent to the Fort once when we were between campers. We had brought my Pilot with our utility trailer. After unloading we left the trailer hooked up, and yes, we forgot to unplug from my car. So the battery was dead. We got the number for automotive assistance from the front desk. The guy who came out was super nice and charged my battery. He had an awesome charger that worked really fast. He wouldn't accept any money- said it was part of his job!
  8. We saw the sign for the Tortuga Tavern buffet when we were at Magic Kingdom on Saturday. I didn't think it was advertised very well, but they may have gotten walk ins since lines were crazy everywhere. We were at the Biergarten on Monday and it was delicious! We also had a wonderful server and fun tablemates. And of course a tasty liter of Hefeweisen!
  9. All this is why we are hanging out at the Fort today. Too much craziness for us.
  10. Ok, thanks. This will be different experience for us. We don't usually plan out which park so far in advance. 60 days out is crazy, but I wanted to make sure we got the rides we wanted. It will be interesting to see how this works during the holidays. I'm thinking people won't be able to use some FP+ reservations because they'll show up mid-day and MK will be closed for capacity.
  11. The very best trip we ever had was in January! That year our school system gave us the two weeks after Christmas for the break. We got there on Dec 30 and stayed for a week. New Year's Eve was crazy, of course. But every day after that the crowds were lighter. By the end of the week all the rides were walk on and the weather was perfect! Loved it!
  12. I was able to go in and customize magic bands and make FP+ reservations at 60 days out (check in Dec 28). Yesterday we were invited to participate in the testing at the Fort. I went into my MDE account and my reservations and magic bands are just as I made them. I'm not sure if we are testing because we have APs or because we are staying at the Fort.
  13. Happy Belated Birthday! Your birthday is only 4 days after mine! September is a good month! I wondered if we would be able to get FPs with the KTTW cards. I hope that is still possible at the end of the year! I'm glad y'all (ha!) were able to get all those rides in the morning! We never make it there early enough to do TSM, so we still haven't ridden it. I know, blasphemy, but my kids like the big rides.
  14. We actually played shuffleboard once, not at the Fort, though. At Topsail Hill campground- the kids were sunburned and didn't want to swim, so we played shuffleboard! The kids liked it, but not enough to play again.
  15. Having grown up around Atlanta, I have less of an accent than some Georgians, but I say y'all. My parents are from South Georgia though, so we had plenty of Southern spoken at our house. My children have even less of an accent, with so many teachers and friends who are Yankees.
  16. Well, if I can't be there, at least I can read about it! Looking forward to more. Too bad about the grapefruit beer. I tried it in July and really liked it. Very refreshing on a hot day.
  17. Wow! You covered a lot in this trip report! I love it! I don't know if DD17 will want to go through rush next year when she goes to college, but I really don't think it is her cup of tea. I know it wasn't mine. I didn't go through rush at UGA. But, I think if she were in Twin 1's shoes, she'd want to come home, too. I wouldn't be able to take her to Disney for the day, though. Good job! I showed her the dorm pictures- she was very interested. I don't think she had even thought about dorm decor yet. We got some good ideas! Tell your DDs thanks! The mine train is coming along slowly, isn't
  18. Ok, I am posting. Not just reading. Not so easy while walking on a treadmill. Loving the report! We need to try a cruise, but 5 people is a little pricey as you know. So just enjoying reading along for now!
  19. Yes, ours was plugged in! And no we didn't plug it in! It was like that when we got there. :)
  20. Yes, I think someone forgot to turn the music on.... We heard the Wishes soundtrack from the pool. We sat in the zero entry part to watch last Thursday and Friday nights. We did not notice any excessive noise in our building (the one that starts with an A that I can't pronounce), but maybe with 5 people in the room we were making the noise :)
  21. Well, of course I am! But I'm glad someone recognizes it. I don't think my children do.
  22. Kelly, we are at the Poly and we have a fridge. We are in a renovated room so it might be a new one. No freezer compartment though, which I found disappointing. I like to freeze water bottles for the parks.
  23. Love the Biergarten! Glad to hear you enjoyed it! I can't pass up the beer when I am there. Yes, I am a girl and I drink the liter of beer. So there. I like beer. And German food.
  24. We finally got to try BOG, although it was lunch- still can't get dinner. I can't plan where I'm going to be 180 days in advance, so we probably won't do dinner there for a long time. We all really enjoyed the food, even my picky DS. He had the potato leek soup and loved it. He ate my fries (pommes frites, sorry) and loved them too. Yes, he is almost 15, but eats like a 6 year old. DH and I both had the roast beef sandwich. It was very tasty and had lots of horseradish sauce. DD17 had the winning dish - the Braised Pork. It was delicious! We all really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was relaxi
