Help with a specific site recommendation
GradyBunch replied to eticketride's topic in Fort Wilderness Loops Information
Agree with TCD. We have stayed in both 100 and 200 loops. We really liked 219 since it was pretty close to the walking path down to the marina. It wasn't as loud as the 100 loop either. You can almost hear "All to shore that's going ashore" from the 100's... -
overnighter in southern ga/north fl?
GradyBunch replied to Arielsfanmom's topic in Camping To and From the Fort
My thought is this...either leave before 11am and drive all the way to the Fort or leave around 3:30, avoid Atlanta traffic, and stop before midnight. This normally puts us at Valdosta around 10 ish. However, this year was odd...heavy traffic about an hour south of Atlanta held us up for over an hour. -

Yes, I think they bought the campground at that exit and now it is part of camping world. It's right next to the store. One more thing, we left before CW opened so I had to call them and pay over the phone on the way to the Fort. You may be able to prepay and book it before hand, not sure. -

We were on the road by 7:15 and had one bathroom stop. I think the Fort is around 200 miles from there so right around a 3 hour drive depending on how heavy your foot gets. -

For a real quick in and out, we stayed at the camping world campground off exit 5 just outside of Valdosta this year. Not only is it very cheap ($20+tax is good sams rate) but also a perfect distance for us, just a little over 400 miles from the house. Wake up early, microwave breakfast, gas up, and we are at the fort by 10:30. Easy easy -
Great RV Service Tech
GradyBunch replied to Grumpy and Grandma's topic in RV Repairs on the Road, at FW and Elsewhere
We had a massive kitchen sink leak first thing when we got to the Fort this year...it was awesome btw. After teaching the girls a few new words and a split open finger, I decided to call someone who knew what they were doing. Long story short, Franks Mobile RV did a great job. Didn't overcharge and was at the site less than an hour after i called him. 407-922-7302 -
