  1. but short stays are what i want!!!! I have 3 nights in december, 2 in feburary and 3 in october... If i can convince the wife ill to another 2 nights in april and maybe 3 more in december 2016
  2. I am sure it could be arranged, however how far off site are you going to stay that 1 night, most of the hotels have ample parking and you might as well bring it with you
  3. I totally missed the hotel question... was too focused on cold water... we just stayed a few nights at South Seas Island Resort, its Awesome! Expensive but Awesome we had a Tennis villa, our off season rate was $159/ night, and that included free breakfast and a $100 resort credit. It was a short walk to a beach, and if we got on a 5 min tram ride it took us to the north beach that has its own tiki bar. i say expensive as that was the florida resident summer rate, winter rates are double or triple the good is that if you stay in any villa, its got a full kitchen and BBQ grills, so you can save
  4. Whats your definition of cold? I am a Florida boy, who lived in NH the ocean temp up there in the summer is still way colder than it is here in the winter! for example Hampton Beach in NH today has a water temp of 68, and people were in the water enjoying it, and ft myers beach water temp is 88 I have gone to the beach on Christmas day and swam, I don't recall it being too cold, maybe the low 70's, check out this site below for monthly averages to get an idea http://www.seatemperature.org/north-america/united-states/fort-myers-beach-december.htm
  5. on Sanibel no, they have periwinkle park, its in the middle of the island and its a short drive to the beach, pay for pakring is like $2-3/ hr Bridge toll for 1 car is $6 http://www.sanibelcamping.com/ On Ft Myers beach is red coconut RV resort http://www.redcoconut.com/ My parrents have camped at red coconut and liked it.
  6. we live 20 min from Sanibel, if you ever get the chance chek the island out, sunsets are amazing and you will see a dolphin every time you go here are my boys, Tanner is 4 and Sawyer is 2, A family friend is starting a photo business and took some pics for her portfolio
  7. what he should do is fed-ex me the keys with $100 beer money... Ill put the shutters on and take pics to prove i did the work
  8. Looks like I am gonna get hit... Monday 8 am and I am in the center of the "cone of uncertainty" ill be grabbing 5 gallons of gas for the generator( its already full so that puts me at roughly 24 hours of run time, or 3 days of use as i use it 8 hours a day (11-7) I already got food earlier in the week so i am good there. batten down the hatches!
  9. no plans to move up, because there is no place to park it with out paying the city i live in has regulations like an HOA, not a bad thing as long as you know about it. I can park a PuP closed up in my garage and still fit the van on the other side ( win!) , I also have the option to park it on the side of the house, but again only pop ups can be parked no RV over 60 inches tall may be stored at the home unless its in a garage. Boats are allowed but must be parked in the back yard and not visible from the street. I purchased a new PuP knowing that I was going to keep it for minimum 5 yea
  10. Its that balance of power and efficiency I am looking for with more storage in the TV for bikes/ gear I have been on 1 trip with the pup, so that's why i posted the question as everyone has more experience than I do. I live in south Florida, where our largest hill is a landfill and you cant drive up it, its mainly flat unless you cross a bridge. I am about 3 hours from the fort, and I anticipate 3-4 trips a year ( 3 booked so far between 12/15 and 10/16) to the fort, and maybe 3-4 trips to other locations each year. My wife has expressed interest in going to the Smokey mountains and Savan
  11. I ll be ready to buy in 1.5 years and the ford looks to be 3+ years out at the moment I realize 1.5 years is a long time to plan, however I don't make decisions like this often, about every 10 years, so i want my investment to be a good one
  12. slightly related, my parents are currently on Carnival Conquest, the have totally changed the itinerary, they were to be in St Kitts yesterday and San Juan today, however they skipped St Martin on Tuesday, docked at San Juan till yesterday after noon, skipped St Kitts, and are now Docked in Grand Turk They are due to get off the ship Monday in Ft Lauderdale, however I believe they will be docking Sunday vs Monday
  13. I dont worry unless i know the eye is passing within 100 miles of my home, a camper I would worry if they were estimating 300 miles between where i am and the eye. the thing about hurricanes is they can be really wide over 1000 miles in some instances, however the strongest winds are near the eye and typically dont extend out too far. just pay attention to the weather reports and if things look bad, but they have not told you to move yet, start moving its better to be ready to go and not need to move than be told to go and still have to pack up.
  14. to me If i can make it somewhere with less stops, I am a happy camper, so if the truck can get to the site and back and never need a station that's a plus! secondly my xterra gets 19 when not towing, I didn't do the math last time i towed so I dont know how low it got towing the pup but i dont expect it to be horrible. when you look at the scale of the "midsize truck" its actually 7/8th the size of the full size... so its 12.5% smaller they are tying to get over 30 MPG so when you compare it to my current ride, it could to be 11 mpg better when not towing anything on the highway, and 5 mpg b
  15. Travis, That's why I got the 2516G, its got the storage trunk on the PUP In said compartment, I store the following 4 folding chairs 1 folding table 1 gas grill 2 power cords( rv type 2 x25 ft) 2 extension cords ( normal 2 x25 ft) 2 hoses (25 ft water, 25 ft drain) 8x10 patio mat/ rug 50 ft of coax( 2 x25) 1 magnet mount HD TV antenna that's roughly 115 lbs of gear using that allows the other storage areas in the camper virtually empty for now I have storage under the bench's on the dinette eash are 2.5 feet tall, 2.5 feet wide and 4 feet deep, with inside and outside access 1 of the 2 h
  16. thanks for the feedback so far, I am taking into consideration everyone's points/ tips I can say I have driven my dads Honda Ridgeline, and I just really like the size of the smaller truck vs the full size, that not to say that wont change as i go for more test drives
  17. yea where are you? I had a great experience buying from Lazydays They will match/ beat anyone's price on new units as for your price of 10-15 there are new units that fit the bill, they will not be toy haulers for example this uint http://www.lazydays.com/rv/new-rvs-for-sale/tampa-fl/travel-trailer/coachmen-clipper-rvs-005 will sleep more than 4, no bunk though, and asking is $15,298 but id bet you can get a couple grand off easily for used they just got this in, 30 ft bunk house 2006 for $10,000 no pics just yet but if your local go check it ou http://www.lazydays.com/rv/used-rvs-for-sal
  18. I can help you out, kill 2 birds at the same time number 1, you need to go to Columbia Restaurant! My friends Family owns the small chain( maybe 6 locations?) the closest one to the fort is Located in Celebration, Disney's Master planned community, so its somthing Disney, and something new http://www.columbiarestaurant.com/celebration.asp as for what to get, here is what we do when we go with the owners Sangria the 1905 Salad- trust me on this! a mix of Tapa's or thier Cuban sandwich and a few main entre's to share most meals are large enough to share that way its like your own private b
  19. check out lazydayz rv resort, its really nice, a short drive to crystal springs, and its at I4 and I75 they have summer special rates at $29 a night, no pull thru though secondly your at a dealership that can service the unit should an issue be found.
  20. so true... growing up my parents would plan our Disney trips when the fair came to town, that way we never asked to go, and were safer in the long run
  21. If I skip the diesel I'll most likely get 4x4, in case a boat is in my future, getting up slippery ramps can be hard with 2wd
