  1. I'm a stamper...addicted to stamping almost as much as to FW. Anybody else? B-B-B
  2. Yesterday while at AK we asked three of the CMs at KS if they would recommend WAT. Each one (2 were drivers) said No. The general consensus was that it was just a glorified ride of what you normally see. If the animals weren't out on the normal safari you weren't going to see them on the WAT. They indicated the food presented was more a small snack. Looking down on the alligators was not a biggie as you saw as much as when you pass by in the regular trucks...just that you're standing over them. Also, this is not a handicapped accessible excursion nor is it available for younger children. That
  3. I use a Nikon Coolpix S8100. I'm a "point and shoot" type person so mostly I use it on automatic. It has a "night landscape" and "night portrait" selections that work really nice. Also has 10x optical zoom and in auto mode you have access to more steps with a digital zoom. What I really like is the image stabilization which is a big upgrade over my last camera and helps with the night scenes. I don't use any tripod or anything but a photographer friend once told me when you take a longer exposure to get better results, tuck your elbows to your sides, exhale, hold your breath and take the pictu
  4. Okay....so here we go again.... WEDNESDAY Still can?t quite get it all together in the morning but we did a little better than yesterday. Then it?s off to Animal Kingdom and (insert drum roll here) IT?S SUNNY!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) First stop is Kilimanjaro Safari and the hippos are actually out of the water which is apparently a rarity. We check out the elephants, giraffes, gazelles, alligators and wart hogs as our driver speeds through the compound to save the baby elephant from poachers. The lions are in hiding as well as the rhinos but we find the baby elephant hidden in the truck
  5. The "official" FW paperwork says... Fires: Limit charcoal fires to the charcoal grills. Open fires are not permitted anywhere in Fort Wilderness. Torches and other burning devices are not permitted." That said....we have seen a couple sites where people were using off the ground (up on legs) fire pits with screened over tops. FW is pretty full and with as cold as it's been and you'd think there would be more people outside at night. These last couple nights it's like a ghost town with everybody huddling inside for warmth! :parrot: B-B-B
  6. Thanks everybody for your nice comments. Sorry about the many, many Grandson pics...but this trip is all for him! Obviously we absolutely adore our Grandson next week we return him to Mom and Dad totally full of sugar, way off schedule and spoiled rotten. Like I told my daughter, paybacks are hell :popo: !! TUESDAY I?m beginning to remember when you have children what it?s like to travel with backpacks, snack bags, change of clothes bags, and, (heaven forbid) we can?t forget that old, scruffy blankie! We had every intention of getting an early start today but by the time showers were done, br
  7. We used to go infrequently...the last few years 3-4 times per year. Usually Feb, May, late Sept and Nov or early Dec. We live 550 miles away and takes about 9 1/2 hours to drive...but we're retired so sometimes it takes a week or so to arrive  However, after this year we will be rethinking our trips as the cost is starting to get too high...thinking that next year we might do a nice long trip out west and maybe visit the Western House of the Mouse. B-B-B
  8. Head over to the Trip Reports....I've made my first attempt. I will make every effort to add daily...but keeping up with a 3 year old definitely takes it out of you. :) B-B-B
  9. Here's my first attempt at a trip report....I never realized how time consuming they could be...now I really appreciate all the work everybody has done in the past!! SUNDAY This visit to Disney and the Fort is for our grandson. You see, he just received the gift of a baby brother so Mimi and Poppie (as he calls us) are giving him his first Disney adventure since Mom and Dad have their hands full. The highly anticipated arrival at FW was very anti-climactic?nap time being much more important. Business was brisk as we waited to register. Lane one opened up just after we pulled through security
  10. So far it won't be much of a trip report since it's been wet, cold and windy most of this afternoon and evening. :moon: :moon: But we have a few photos and will start on a trip report soon. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunnier and we are going to give Epcot a try. Doing Disney with a 3 year old sure is different! B-B-B
  11. We have finally arrived...find us in site 729. :tool: You will probably be greeted by two barking, ankle biting chihuahuas in the front window. Off to MK today...it is our grandson's first visit...where do they get all this energy??? B-B-B
  12. Well....I have to admit my pea brain couldn't remember it from the show last night (musta been on a bathroom break) so I had to Google the answer....looks like it was a chow puppy.
  13. 6. Laugh-O-gram Studio 7. Lillian Bounds 8. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit 9. Cocker Spaniel (i think it was the same as in the Lady and the Tramp) 10. Mortimer Mouse
  14. OMG!!! ROTFLMAO!! I think I just peed my pants!! Nice job!! Now I know my trip report will be totally boring. :o :)) :)) B-B-B
  15. I'm a 1972 grad of THS. Think NT beat us most of the years I was in school. Every time we go back it just blows my mind how everything still looks the same....well, maybe a little older and a little dirtier. I still miss Ted's Hot Dogs...we eat there every chance we get...and of course we fill up with beef on wick and some real good chicken wings! Oh, oh...I'm starting to drool. NO!!! NO!!! NO!!! I'm not going back until that northern world unthaws. BURRRRR it's cold enough here in SC!!!! Who else if from the Buffalo area?? Maybe that's a new topic? Oops...wouldn't want to hijack my own threa
  16. There is also Bass Lake CG at exit 193 in Dillion, SC. If you are Passport America it's only $15. The owners took an old run down place rejuvenated it with new electric, shower/bathrooms/laundry and the owners (an english couple) are super nice. Easy on/off I95. Great spot for an overnight, safe, clean and economical. B-B-B
  17. Come on down the slide and join the rest of us...water's nice and warm and FrIENDly!! B-B-B
  18. Yeah....well....I just spent the last 7 weeks in Buffalo, NY (my hometown) Are you actually from Buffalo or one of the surrounding towns? I'm from No. Tonawanda, now living in Florida (for the past 38 years). There are quite a few of us that are either from Buffalo area, or as in the case of my brother, NTSammy5, still lives there. Amazing....it's a small world after all! I was born and raised in the City of Tonawanda right off Delaware Ave by Santora's Pizza. Left many years ago right after graduating school. My mom still lives there and I was just back to take care of her after her surge
  19. Yeah....well....I just spent the last 7 weeks in Buffalo, NY (my hometown) so I understand exactly how you feel...we were so glad to put the cold and that white stuff in the rear view mirror. It took 10 days at home in SC (don't know why it took so long) to realize we needed a Fort trip real bad. Supposed to drizzle and be yucky tomorrow but still going to leave anyway...should arrive on Sunday. So a trip report it will be...BUT...like I said...please don't give me razzies and snarkies for a crappy report....I ain't done no nothin' like that before :) ! B-B-B
  20. Oh? Is there a story or TR in that comment?:o This next week will be our first visit for this year and we are looking forward to about three more at our home away from home! B-B-B
  21. We live in Upstate SC .... what cards? Guess I haven't found that information yet ... might take me a while to catch up now that I have better living getting the internet back and some good laughs from Fort Fiends! B-B-B Were you the family camped next to us in the 1800 loop? This family had rented a new Taurus which was the conversation starter between my DH & the other DH. We had the GEM car, spoke about Kenny's Cart rental, and gave info regarding discount tickets for military personnel at Shades of Green. If that's you, WELCOME. If that's not you, WELCOME!!! No, that wasn't us in
  22. Oh....I like that card!!! and Purple!!! Gotta find purple somethings for my clothesline!! Do you have a file you can email? Are we using purple Mickey Heads too? About that TR.....we're taking the Grandson (3 years) with us for his first trip without Mom & Dad and it's his first trip to Disney...might make an interesting(?) TR. Writing TRs isn't my strong suit (I love reading everybody's) but I'll try my best....just please don't get too snarky when it doesn't measure up to others... B-B-B
