While I whole heartily agree that sometimes, actually quite a few times, TCD is not the brightest bulb, I think you're being a little harsh on him.
I deserved that.

I'm curious why you think that it's any more difficult than getting to most restaurants located at a resort. Excluding the MK Resort Area resorts of course.
I guess I should have said "Painfully slow" instead of difficult. Roundtrip, that's quite a ride. In a car, it's still a decent drive, but much faster.
-
I should say, Sanaa should be out if you don't have a car. WAY too difficult to get there.
-
For the record, I'm anti UTV at the Fort. They're usually loud and too fast. I approve of the rule that they aren't allowed. A little over a year ago I was tent camping alone in the 2000 loop. There were some kids on a Gator flying around the loop and slamming on brakes to make the tires squeal. I called the front desk, security, etc. No one even bothered showing up.
Meanwhile, my car was a little off the pavement a few weeks ago and I got a note from a ranger.
I'm not the one to usually throw the TCD "Idiot" phrase around, but in this case....

Hmm, I would assume outside of a park due to crowds so I'll say:
Casual, not a super quiet place - Boatwrights at POR. I think it's major underrated and I've had great food there.
Casual and quieter - Sanaa at Kidani. It's quiet and very, VERY underrated. It's hardly ever crowded, either.
Casual and loud and in a park - Mama Melrose. It had a great Christmas feel.
Fancier - Flying Fish. Hands down. Big flavors and the best steak on property.
I also like Olivia's at OKW, but it's nothing super fancy at all. Typical American food with a few surprises like the conch fritters.
Just my opinion, though. It all depends on what kind of food you like. You're at WDW for Christmas, so I'm sure you'll enjoy almost anywhere.

I'm full of food suggestions. Are you looking for lundh? dinner? Casual? Fancy?
-
Just asked someone who I know would know and also checked all ears. Looks like drinks only from both of my sources.

Took a minute to put a somewhat accurate list together. I know there will be others, but here is who I have so far who are staying at the Fort.

Glad you will still be there and even more glad you didn't fall through the floor.
There's kind of Zen symmetry going on there. The camper deal fell through and you almost fell through. All's well.
Better to almost fall through before the deal falls through than after.
Thanks. I really do believe the seller had no idea. He was very proud of himself for maintaining it well and going above and beyond. But yes, I'm glad I caught it before I owned it.
Brent, we leave Wednesday, so we will make sure to see you before we go :)
Sorry we missed each other the other week. Can't wait to see you guys!

Must. Have. 1971 Tumbler! Wonder if they're selling them on disneystore.com.
I'd be surprised if they aren't. They're in EVERY giftshop in WDW. I've had one in my hand a couple of times, but keep putting it down. They also have a coffee mug that's similar.
-
Glad to hear they're replacing the bridge. Last time I cut through there, it wasn't in the best shape. Since I may end up back there next week, well, not so convenient.
-
So I had to do some modifications... nothing is going right for this trip, but I still plan to be there. Now Tuesday - Sunday. Can't wait to see everyone!
(Also, the camper that I was secretly trying to buy fell through - or I almost fell through a rotted floor, so time to go down the rental road. Looks like I'm calling Curt)
-
I will be requesting 1500 for next week - specifically the ones on the first part of the loop to be as close as possible to the Full Hookup loops where I hear Lorna and crew will be.
-
When you're booking the fantasmic package, it's under the f's on the website. Not M for Mama Melrose. Found out the hard way. I ate at Mama's a couple of weeks ago for the first time in years and really enjoyed it. It was definitely a better meal than I expected it to be.
-
The Commissary always has one or two unique things on the menu. It's usually my choice if I have to eat CS there. Otherwise, the pretzel dogs are good and so are the paninis at Backlot Express.
-
I'll be there.
-
So the ID checking was also happening at AK. It was a pain - especially since your name is just handwritten on the new AP's. Mine is hardly legible. They weren't checking at DHS the couple of times I drove in.

OK, so yeah... delicious. Not quite as "rich" as I thought it would be. I had the profiterole with whipped cream vodka. Sounds odd, but it was DELICIOUS. When we all walked in, the cast members were just standing around twiddling their thumbs. I guess it hasn't caught on yet.
-
I'm pretty sure I got this last weekend. It, like the old ones, just went right in the garbage.
-
I'll swing in there this weekend. It's taking one for the team, I suppose, but a full review seems necessary.
-
I've been before since, I too, have to follow a college schedule. The parks are crowded - not July 4th crowds, but busy. The last time I was there that weekend, the Fort was pretty much full. I'd definitely book now and cancel if you change your mind since it only costs the one night deposit.
-
Jason - I know I'll be there until the 6th and would be great to see you and Sil. If you decide to stop over, shoot me a message and we can all grab a pizza or something. I'm certain there will still be fiends around.
-
I like Dinosaur. I do not like guns on Dinosaur.
I predict there will now be many signs at the front of the park about weapons as well as pat downs.
OK, maybe not pat downs, but at our local Carowinds in Charlotte you do have to go through a metal detector. It's a complete nightmare.
-
Well, I tried to make it work, but I just can't pull it off. Leaving for WDW Wednesday night and getting back from SM Tuesday morning was presenting a logistical nightmare. I look forward to seeing many Fiends at the Fort for the 4th.

I like the later show. It's always less-crowded. If it's a slower time of year, the less-expensive tier will still get you a good seat since they don't seat the balcony.
