  1. Finally getting caught up on my reading. That was "GREAT" Stef. Glad you guys had such a "fiendishly fun" time.
  2. You know if you didn't have such a nice wife and adorable daughters, especially the littlest one, I would not be doing this, :rofl3: but....I just got these from Mark, they are the ones I missed in the harbor.,
  3. As we cruise our way to KETCHICAN it was our turn for the Character Breakfast in Parrot Cay. And the Servers do their "Napkin Hats" for all in the dining room. We arrive in KETCHICAN around noon. It is a city similar to JUNEAU, no roads in or out since it is on an island. It is also where the "Bridge to nowhere" was supposed to be built. They have a 30 mile long "Road to nowhere" that was built on the mainland that was intended to connect to the bridge. (Isn't government great?) Our tour plans include the Saxman Native Village tour and Lumber Jack Show. Disney even made arrangements
  4. OK, "PIRATE NIGHT", slightly subdude. As many of you know it is DCL tradition to have "PIRATE NIGHT" on one of the last nights of a Cruise. Well, due to ALASKA regulations there can be no fireworks. I assume it is to protect the wildlife, which as we have seen, is in abundance. Also due to the rainy weather the festivities were in the Atrium and on the WONDER, there isn't a lot of room as compared to the DREAM. So, ARGHH!!! and off we go. Dressed and ready to head for dinner. Waiting for order . Appetizers. As mentioned earlier I did get a couple food pics. Crab legs. Salmon. Grandma and
  5. Whale watching continued: Time is running out so we head back to the dock. Some of the scenery and houses as we head back. Interesting fact about JUNEAU, despite being the Capitol, there are no roads to get there. It's either by, plane, boat or on foot. They want to move the Capitol to Anchorage, but no money to do it. Since we couldn't do any exploring in the city, no ECV, we head back to the ship. Many got off the bus in town. A view of the Federal Building. Typical government, they spent a couple hundred thousand dollars to install tinted windows and JUNEAU has about 40 sunny days a y
  6. The tour Grandma decided on included the whale watching adventure. So when we leave the glacier we head to the pier and our boat. We no longer started to pull away from the dock and here was a whale. Look in the center window. He was so close to the dock that he even surprised the Captain. It all happened so fast that I didn't get a good pic. It also had it's fluke out of the water about 100' from the boat. Another one right along the shore. The first thing we see is an Eagle looking for dinner. We found out that an Eagle's eyesight is so good that they can spot a fish on the surface a
  7. Our next stop along with Mendenhall Glacier and whale watching. A couple pics as we leave and cruise to JUNEAU. As usual, the staff does their "animal thing", but our room steward added a little extra. Grandma insisted that we get his pic with his creation. We arrive in JUNEAU and start our tour. Again the staff allowed Linda to board the bus early so this went well. We get off the bus, start down the walk and look what was waiting to greet us. A couple pictures from the parking lot. The path to get the close ups. Linda waited in the visitor center as I walked down. She was able to g
  8. My concern about taking the MH was the roads and beating the s--t out of it. We had a chance to take a couple caravans but they were 6-7 weeks and almost double the cost of the cruise plus fuel. (Which meant I would have had to cook as well :rofl3: )
  9. Thanks and yes, they made a quick walk through the bus and looked at them.
  10. Train ride continued. Heading into one of the tunnels on the route. You can tell we're really climbing. More and more snow, smaller and fewer trees. An abandon tressle. Snow is piled up next to the tracks. The train in front of us was a shorter tour so the switchman is waiting for us to go and then will move the engine and start back down. Well we made it to Whitepass which is the actual border between the US and BC . A lake along the way. Just remember some of the snow has already melted. The trees are so short and skinny because they are subjected to 80-90 mph winds. We were told
  11. Mid 50's, but grandma cheated and wore long-johns...
  12. Our trip on the White Pass and Yukon Route Railroad. The train follows the path of the gold rush up to FRAZIER, BC. and beyond, but FRAZIER is as far as we went. We then hopped on a bus for the trip back down to LIARSVILLE. Usually all tours meet in one of the theaters or lounges before heading out to the busses, but we were allowed to get on the bus early to avoid the crowd since Linda was walking. I have to give a "Hats off" to Anthony who handles the shore excursions for being so accomodating. Working our way to the bus. Then: Linda and Claire of the train. One set of engines. We start
  13. Thanks, I've resized them all to 640X480 don't know why they have'nt all taken., Eveything is uploaded now. They need a "re-size all" option.
  14. We have to leave the same way we came in so most of the scenery is the same but there are some new pics. I don't know what is with photo-bucket I have reduced the size of all the pics, sometimes it works sometimes not. We say good-bye to the glacier Apparently the ice flow where the seals were "sun bathing" broke up after the smaller sightseeing boat and the our ship went by. Next stop. They don't have to worry about neighbors. We are docked. What you would see if you lived in SKAGWAY. Some of DCL's competition. We thought that town would be a zoo but that was not the case. We attemp
  15. Finally got to peruse the TR,almost feel like we were there. Thanks for the virtual visit Carol (and Bob). Glad all had a great time. As soon as the office opens we are going to call and see what is available for next year.
  16. The ice chunks get bigger and more frequent. Grandma watching the scenery and the ice floating by. Another waterfall. Seals lounging on the ice flow. A small sightseeing boat on the way out. A group of ducks. A smaller glacier. Getting close. .The Captain turns the ship and......... A couple close ups. I take a peak around the other side. As we turn to leave. That's all for tonight.....more over the weekend
  17. As I mentioned "Mother Nature" sent us a detour. As we got close to the Fjord the Captain announced that we had to turn South and go to Endicott Arm and the Dawes Glacier instead of North to Tracy's Arm and the Sawyer Glacier. Too much ice. Well as you will see in the pics that follow, it was a good decision by the Coast Guard. It was not a disappointing journey. Both Arms are about 30 miles long so it was a relaxing journey and we passed another cruise ship heading out. A couple Dolphins decide to chase us. We get close and head for the entrance of the Fjords. We start to see the
  18. Haven't quite got the "picture thing" figured out, sorry for the different sizes. More scenery Captain had to watch his speed, cops are out and about. (Canadian Coast Guard) A couple eagles, they look like large golf balls/snow balls in the trees Out on a fishing trip Wanna race? Animators Palate for dinner Our head server Victor, the "Ham". Assistant/beverage server Kamish, opening the evening's libation. The menu. One more pic before bed. Our next destination. Next "Mother Nature" changes our course, but it wasn't a bad detour.
  19. Next page: As I stated I did get a few, but not many, food pics so here are couple from dinner the first night. Shrimp appetizer Escargot Baked Flounder Baked chicken After dinner we went back to the cabin for a little bit and I got a couple more pics as we worked our way North. We sailed through the straits as we headed for Tracy's Arm. It makes for a smoother ride. At first I thought this was only a tug and then the barge came into view. Hope the cable holds. Took a second pic of the tow and barge and then spotted the whale in lower left hand corner as I was going through the pics. W
  20. That's what we found out. Should have checked first :banghead: especially since our son is one of their pilots.
  21. Got things organized a little earlier than I had expected. Preface: This TR will not be as flamboyant as I would have liked. As many of you know Grandma (Linda) has a walking disability so we rented a ECV (from a company who shall remain nameless for now) for her to use on the ship. Well it was a POS. At times it would go 30 ft and then stop and at other times it would go 3 ft and stop, a problem that started as soon as we got to the cabin, so it limited her ability to maneuver about the ship. As a result I don't have a lot of pics on the ship, but I was able to get a lot of the beautiful s
