  1. Welcome back! I was pretty new over there (had been lurking for a month or so and had just started posting) when it all went down, and I specifically remember your comment (and remember your usc pics). I thought it was funny and that's why I logged in every day...for the snarkiness! I know your user name was different over there, but for the life of me I can't remember it. And thanks for your service!!!
  2. You definitely delivered. It's amazing that I pay more attention reading a TCD trip report than I do actual books.... Yes, I read books on occasion (mostly right now about Disney, but that's beside the point). There should be tests at the end of TCD trip reports....I would get an A for sure.
  3. I figured as much. Seems like a pretty sweet gig. But maybe I'm just that good! Yet I do have a plan B...it's called the lottery! Enjoying the TR. Can't wait to read more, Val!
  4. I need to purchase a new windshield for our golf cart. No, I did not break it. It came cracked when we bought it used, so I need to get a new one if we want to stay SOMEWHAT warm on our trip to the Fort in February. I'd like a tinted windshield, but I was wondering how they are at night. Does anyone have one, and if so, does the tinting make it difficult to see at night when the windshield is up? Also, my batteries are old and in order for me to not take the title of having the slowest cart (we might be able to compete for that at the moment), I need new ones. Anyone know of any good dea
  5. I've decided that when I retire from this band directing thing I want to move down there and play in the Main Street Philharmonic. My question is if they play anywhere else in the parks, or just there. Seems like a fun gig, and they do sound great.
  6. Your pictures are great. I may have to steal some of your ideas for my own pics!
  7. We have cruised, and believe, me...if I had the money... Just think if I COULD afford all of Disney...
  8. Good point. Thanks for the info!
  9. Makes sense I guess, but still doesn't answer why there were so many empty Caribbean Beach buses. Thanks Lou, you did not disappoint.
  10. DO NOT RENT A GOLF CART For that matter, never rent a camper either. Last December we rented a camper to go to the Fort. Now we own one. In October we rented a golf cart from Kenny. Now we own one. It's a curse. But a great curse!!!
  11. I'm hoping/expecting/fearing that Lou will answer this question. I haven't yet decided whether or not that's a good thing, but I figured he might have insight! We were at the fort for a couple of days before Thanksgiving with the in-laws and bro in-law. Tues morning my bro in-law and I went to Hollywood Studios for an hour. We got to the bus stop to leave at 10:15 and waited 45 minutes for a bus to the fort to show up. During that time we watched about 5 different Caribbean Beach buses come by multiple times each...sometimes with no passengers. There were times that a CB bus drove up whil
  12. No. We try to use Disney rewards points from our visa for in park dining and drinks. We use our visa for nearly everything now a days, so we earn a good amount of points. When we do get a meal in the park we usually split one anyway to save money, then eat more back at the campsite if we're still hungry. Plus, my wife is a great cook at the campsite!
  13. There should be some kind of a TCD TR alarm that goes off to announce a new TR. I just showed up and it's already on page 10! Ridiculous. Ok, my bad for not having checked FF in awhile.
  14. We're going to keep this train moving right along. After naps we got ready to go and visit the Resorts...Contemporary, Poly, Grand Floridian, and Wilderness Lodge. We headed to the marina to get on the boat to the Contemporary. Two guys, and two older women got on as well. The two guys (I think father/son) asked the driver if instead of going around the island he could drive up close by RC so they could see it. Apparently they hadn't been to Disney since RC was still open and had fond memories (as most people who went seem to have). The driver said he wasn't supposed to, but that he would.
  15. Lesson Learned: Finish trip reports on the weekends, because it's hard to find time during the week! I left out some of Tuesday night. We wanted to head over to Hollywood Studios to catch a few things and maybe see Fantasmic. So after dinner at the TT we got on the bus and headed over there. We knew it was going to be towards the end of the day, so we obviously knew there was no chance of getting on Toy Story, but DD3 really wanted to see the Little Mermaid, or Ariel, as she called it. We figured we could ride a couple things before they started shutting down. We got there just before 7:00.
  16. It's the horse drunk tank. It's in the Trolley barn/house/garage or whatever they call it. One door happened to be open when we walked by so I started snapping. Has anyone ever ridden the trolley? I've never even seen it in operation. Guess I haven't been there enough yet.
  17. Ok, sorry for the delay. That whole life thing just got in the way the past two days. Boooo... So, we're at Tuesday morning now. After our first morning confusion with the free tickets, we decided to be smart. Lesson Learned: Don't try to be smart. I took DD19mos to Epcot (via the bus) while DW and DD3 headed over to the MK to watch rope drop and wait for me to arrive with the tickets. A great plan in theory. But...it turns out that our tickets for Tuesday were different than Monday. Our travel company CEO was going to walk us in the park using her guest passes. Except all of us needed to b
  18. Thanks to all for the nice comments! No dice. After this weekend we're putting it on autopilot and cruising to the end of the season! Thanks! Coming from the TR King, that means a lot! I think we saw the covert horse mission around 4:00 or so. That's really interesting about the horse. I never would have known or suspected that.
  19. Ok, I figured I'd better get some more put on here before the week starts. This will be a pretty busy week and it may be a couple of days before I can get any more put up. We were fortunate enough to have some travel company contacts that offered to help us out on park tickets, so Monday morning we got up early to meet them at Epcot to get our tickets for the day. We decided to take the monorail over instead of the bus, since we figured we would end up at the MK before the day was over. Here we are on the boat leaving the marina. Shoe tree. More on that later... River Country. More on th
  20. Thanks! Make sure you take lots of the EWP for Lou!
  21. Sorry it's blurry, Lou. Next time I'll be sure to take LOTS of pictures of it just for you. :jumpforjoy
  22. We live in Covington, but work in Jasper County. I'm actually taking my band up to the GAMF band contest at Rockdale this Saturday. Do you teach?
  23. Ok, I forgot a few things about our first night. First of all, you can't roast marshmallows over charcoal...very well. We thought we would avoid the crowds and just do it at our site after we grilled the steaks. Booo. They don't produce enough flame. Needed wood. Luckily, we were at the fort and there is wood everywhere. It was all wet. So, we had warm marshmallows instead. Lesson Learned: join the crowd and just do it at the campfire! That sounded wrong. I meant roast marshmallows at the campfire. Let's keep it G rated here. ... After the sing-a-long we headed to the beach to watch the
