  1. We stayed at Kidani last February and loved it. I loved that every time we entered the room the kids walked right past the tv and out to the balcony to watch the animals...it was great! One downside, the walk from the elevator to our room averaged about 300 steps, and we were at the halfway point!! Those are some loooong hallways, especially at the end of the day.

    Thanks for sharing that link!

  2. I can't believe I promised to post some resort pics on this thread and then forgot all about it...sorry! But I suppose better late than never.

The first one is my favorite, the Wilderness Lodge.

Then we have a few from our most recent stay, Kidani Village at AKL.

The year before we tried BLT. Although we loved the location and the lake view, it just didn't really do it for us. We liked it enough but probably won't stay there again.

  3. Ok, WSD is just disturbing. What's more disturbing is this morning I was reading a trip report on a DVC site that I go to, it was a really cool report on someone's Disneyland visit. But one of the pictures of his stay at the Grand Californian was this:

What is it with these guys?? (This was just some random guest, not the guy that wrote the trip report)

  4. I am enjoying your report, too funny on the Darth Maul tattoo...yikes! Even though dinner left much to be desired at least it sounds like you had a lot of laughs.

We vacationed once in Amish country in PA. Someone recommended a driving tour where it takes you off the beaten path and really into the heart of Amish community. Well the kids were bored to tears so we put in a Bugs Bunny DVD for them to watch. It just felt wrong driving through these narrow roads, passing Amish women hanging their laundry, little children playing, in our air conditioned minivan with the kids watching tv, munching on Cheetos.

  5. They're free.

If you pay $10.50 for a drink.

They have these around WDW. I know at the Prime Time Cafe in Hollywood Studios, and probably a lot of other places.

One night we left the kids with my mother-in-law and we drank our way around the monorail resorts. I got a glow cube from each one. I highly recommend it. And for the record it takes a confident man to drink a girly pink drink like that ;)

  6. I don't know where to start with the last two updates. Kudos to you on bringing the beer, that is great DCL let's you do that. When we went on RCCL we had to sneak it in our luggage. Unfortunately the gin leaked, on my stuff, of course, to which my husband's reply was "Oh well." I am very impressed that you even had the cut limes for the Coronas.

I won't really comment on the stache except to say I am a product of the 80's and so I can vouch for you.

Lastly, the pictures of you and Frank holding the cast members like babies is hysterical. Not sure you can top that in your trip reports (although the wookie family portrait will always make me chuckle).

  7. I love that you posted the menu offerings, I picked what I would have ordered but none of you ordered what I would have picked so I had to use my imagination. The bubbles were cool and good job on getting all those rides in...I guess going after 11:00 is the way to hit that ride.

I am soooo wanting to book a Disney cruise and I don't think reading this report is helping me.

  8. Coming aboard late (pun intended), and am loving the cruise report. Would love to do a Disney cruise, DH says no. But I can't complain, he allows me my Disney fix regularly. I think I need to make him read your report to show him how much fun it would be.

Love the list of fun, that is something my kids would be all over. Can't wait to find out if Mrs. TCD had to carry two turkey legs (do they really have those on the cruise?!?!). Oh, and Happy Anniversary :)

  9. With the recent closing of Snow White's Scary Adventures I was reminded of a story I read a while ago online about a boy named Ben who has autism. His favorite thing in the world was to ride SWSA, and had done so hundreds, even thousands of times! I wondered how he would handle the closing. I did a little searching and found a blog written by his Dad. He has been updating to tell about Ben's last night with SWSA.

Here is the link if anyone is interested...it's really heartwarming.

  10. I agree on your assessment of the restaurant in Mexico. We must go there every trip for the nachos...and a cold Dos Equis.

And you must go to a Rays game! A few years ago we took some time out of our WDW visit to take in a Rays/Red Sox game. We had a great time. I think we paid somewhere around $10 a ticket. You can't even get a beer for that at Fenway Park.

  11. In my last trip report, someone asked if there were campfires and ewok voices up above the Star Tours queue.

There could be, but all I heard today was music.

You checked! But I think the chatter begins at sunset. Was it at least Star Wars music you heard?

Although I think all the Donald Ducks are great, you really stepped it up a notch. Have you been practicing at home?

And although I have never been, just through your pictures I would agree with you that SWW must have the best people watching than anywhere!

One more thing...was the Wookie Family Portrait sold?

  12. An occassional public execution of pool freeloaders would likely scare the rest of them off and restore order to the Fort.

It's amazing that Disney has yet to implement one of my ideas.

Execution?!? Seems a bit extreme. I think a public flogging or dunking may have the same desired effect.

BTW Stef, I have been lurking but enjoying your TR immensely. Love your pictures...you don't take them all with your phone, do you?

  13. My next visit I am taking a bunch of balloons with me to put up at various locations. Please submit your suggestions. Offhand, I'm thinking the middle of Bay Lake, Disney's waste water treatment facility, and maybe a mobile one on the back of a water mouse.

How about the center of the MK parking lot? The bathrooms in Morocco? The statue of Walt and Mickey in the MK, tied to Walt's hand?

  14. I am wondering if we are the only people here who own DVC and love the Fort with a passion? There must be at least a few others. I will hate it if DVC builds at the Fort. The Fort is a completely different experience that needs to be left alone IMO.

Ha, are you kidding, look at my username!! We always loved the Fort but ultimately decided DVC was the way to go for us. So we bought a resale at VWL (because it is most like FW, and the proximity) and we love it. But I agree with you, don't build at the Fort. In fact, I think they should just stop building, period.

I will try to post resort pics later today. The only DVC resorts on property we haven't tried are SSR and the Beach Club. Going to HH this summer!

  15. And if you are a Guinness fan, you MUST try Kevin Barry's.

    Ohhhhh Savannah....................

My husband loves a Guinness, thanks for the tip!

Thanks everyone, I've started a little notebook and written down all your tips :thumbsup1:

  16. Thanks for the replies, everyone! We are looking forward to a relaxing week there. Am a little nervous about the heat and humidity, but hey, we've done WDW in August and that's a more active vacation so I think we will be good. We are planning on a day to Savannah and otherwise just enjoying the resort.

  17. We just planned a trip to Hilton Head this August for a week (not camping, though).

Anyone been there and can give recommendations on what to see and do, maybe good restaurants to visit, etc?

We are a family of five, with two teenagers (I know...hard to please!!).

    Thanks for any help!!
