  1. That is a true cliffhanger Dave.

    Bring it on!

You know the thing with the towel moms?

I bet its rare that every member of the family needs a chair at the exact same time, so they likely don't need all of those chairs.

They don't need all those chairs. I like to call them "chair hogs". I've seen those chairs sit empty for endless hours while their snowflake plays in the pool or they go to the buffet or snowflake needs a 3 hour nap but will want their chair when they wake up. One cruise I saw a woman yell at her husband to come sit. He said "no, going to the casino, give the chair up I'm not using it"....she yelled back "I'm saving it anyway".

  2. Stay safe from the hurricane!

Your story about the tour guide is hilarious!

Hurricane Schmurricane.....I've sat through worse at my house 200 miles inland. It's passing us right on by.

The island did have a bit of "excitement" (not sure that is the proper word but I can't think of another). My house is on the 2nd row, meaning the main drag goes between the ocean front houses and mine. About an hour ago we hear sirens and see the water rescue team drive on the beach from the public access we use. Yes, we walked out there. We don't know what happened, but they left and the ambulance never went on the beach, hopefully it was a false alarm. Anyway, and this is what shocked me, we saw 2 kids probably the age of 12 boogie boarding in the surf. It has been all over the TV and radio to stay out of the water and these idiot parents let their kids out there apparently unsupervised. The swift water rescue team was probably 100 yards up the beach and these idiots are letting their kids swim. Is the presence of these rescue workers not a clue that the surf and waves are unsafe??? They will probably sue the town for not blocking their access if something happens. I still get amazed at the stupidity of some people.

    Rant over...

The Nassau excursion wasn't so funny at the time but looking back on it cracks me up....it's all I remember from that island.

  3. Just caught up! I'm riding Hurricane Authur out at Ocean Isle Beach NC so this is a great diversion to the wind and rain outside.

We have been to Nassau....once. I won't get off the ship again. We took the "Historical" tour. It was really awkward. Our tour guide drove us through his neighborhood and had us wave at all his friends. The whole time he was announcing "this is how we do the getto in the caribbeans".

I would rather spend time on the ship.

I love the pictures of your family. Everyone looks like they are having a great time.

    Great report so far....thanks!

  4. I pretty much got the same blank stare from the staff at Art of Disney.

My husband called and spoke with someone at David Doss' studio. As he understood it, David Doss Disney prints are only available in WDW. Currently the only time the "Fun in Fort Wilderness" print is available is when he is showing in WDW. As the print gets older and newer prints are drawn, this print may become more readily available when he is not at WDW, which would explain why some prints can be found there and some can not. This is what we were told, so it may or may not be 100% true.

I missed him by 6 days. A friend went to DTD and picked one up for me. My Birthday present to myself!

  5. Oh yes...it IS that voice...and a few other things.

    Anyway,

We ate at the Garden Grill on our last trip and it was delicious! We asked our server what happened to the leftovers if we didn't take them. She said the food that couldn't be donated was composted and used to "feed" the plants around Disney. I hope it's the truth, but we didn't leave much for the plants.

  6. Poor Z! Happy to hear that it wasn't worse. Hope the accident didn't ruin his trip.

Walking that "gangplank" to board the ship ... the anticipation and the happiness of being there ... there is no better feeling (other than walking into MK and seeing the castle for the first time on that trip). I dunno. It's a toss-up. I guess the best scenario is a week-long cruise followed by two weeks or more at the fort and then another week-long cruise.

    I'm so glad Z wasn't any worse...!

I agree with Gwen....my 2 favorite sights are the Fort Wilderness sign and the ship...any ship towering above the cruise terminal. Both in the same trip would be awesome!

  7. Okay, when I was reading the bat letter, i was at first fooled.  In fact, i thought how stupid it was for Disney to tell people how to dispose of dead bats.  The stay in your campers at night rang an alarm bell for me, so at that point, I decided the letter was a fake.

I believed your high score for a time, but not the goodies you supposedly received for scoring it.

Then I started to doubt the score.

Then I doubted the whole update.

Hook, Line, and Sinker.  I fell for the whole thing.  I questioned it, but hey if TCD reports it....it's got to be true...right???  Oh well, I redeemed myself with the pig......and got my first hijack...
