  1. There are a few nice displays.  Our site is all decorated (1016) and a few sites in this loop are decorated but not overly done.  Not many are decorating this year.  It is sad....not the same as it use to be.   And we have to turn the lights off at 10:30 and yet many people are still driving around much later than that wanting to see the decorations.  Several people have stopped at our site to thank us for decorating and telling us they love that we do this for "them".

I am going to see if they have the site decoration contest this year.  I would guess they won't if they are trying to do away with them.  The Fort is not the same and I miss the way it "was".       :mh1:  :camp1:  :thtray:

  2. Tim I sent you a private message.  I bought the little girl a new lanyard with 4 pins on it today.  It is called a starter set and is really nice.  Also have another pin another fiend gave me for her.  We will drop it all by your site tomorrow.  Perhaps you can collect all the pins and put them on the lanyard for her.

Ken or I one will get it to you by the afternoon.   Is the lady who stole it still here?  If so, we should make a sign and point it in her direction that says:

"Be sure your sins will find you out.....

  3. Tuesday night we were coming back to the Fort on the launch.  We got just a short distance from the dock when the Captain announced that all water craft had to return to the dock and all passengers had to leave the boat.  At first no one knew the reason but one young cast member on the dock said she was not allowed to talk about it.   So, all of us had to walk to the buses and take a bus to the Wilderness Lodge and then the shuttle to the Fort.  They sent several buses to help with the large crowd and of course none of them could handle our 3 wheel chairs.  So Ken took Shawnee and Blake on the first one (not the first bus but the one that finally got to us) and Kimberly and I took the next one.  We all managed to get great drivers as they did not make us get out at the Lodge but took us to the Fort.  The one driving my bus was not the happiest but at that point all I wanted was to get to the Fort.  It was after 11:30 pm by the time we got to our site.  We were all exhausted but the kids were so good during it all.

  4. Alabama has been an "ugly" word to a lot of folks prior to this year.  Now it seems everyone is pulling for them to beat Ohio. I think it is funny,  And many have added "and then beat Oregon too".  LOL  I sure hope we can do just that.  I want the National Championship Trophy back in Alabama where it belongs.    ROLL TIDE     ROLL TIDE

  5. We got a notice at check in stating they wanted everything turned off at 10 BUT no one around us is doing it so i am leaving ours on too.  None of our neighbors are complaining but if they do then I will turn them off.  My blow ups do not put off much light so about all I would have to turn off are the lights.

Tonight while walking back to the RV from the MVMCP it was very dark and we could have used some outdoor lighting.

  6. 17 years ago on December 5, God gave this world a precious, priceless gift.  In May He made sure that gift was given to us.  The doctors asked us to re think bringing her home from the hospital as she would only live a few months.  I said a flat out "no way...I fell in love with her at first sight and she is coming home with us".  And she did.  Well that few months has now been 17 years and as my grandson put it, "and she is still alive".  Alive she is....smiling, laughing, singing, and bringing joy to all who meet her.  She lights up a room by just being there.  She is truly a ray of sunshine on our old lives.  We are so thankful God Blessed us and this world with Kimberly.  I can not imagine our lives without her.

I think she was born on the 5th so she and Walt Disney could share their day as they have both brought so much joy to the world.

Happy 17th Birthday Princess Kimberly Cheyenne Aleta Hammett.  We love you sweet girl.  You are truly mama's heartbeat.  :wiz:   :bday:     :toot:  :heartsmiley:

  7. We decorate a lot and will arrive on the 11th.  I think all the new rules concerning the lights, etc. has put a damper on a lot of the decorating.

Some of those who decorate will be coming in about the same time we do.  We have noticed that in year's past.  Don't give up yet.  But I know it will not be the same if people stop decorating.   That is the main reason we are going to change everything for next year.  We will be coming to Fort for Thanksgiving week and then spending 3 weeks in the mountains of Tn. for Christmas.  Maybe we will see snow in 2015 there.  Then we can decide whether to do Disney or Tn. for 2016.

  8. I also questioned how a team with one loss (my Alabama) would be ranked ahead of a team with no losses.  DH explained that it was due to the teams the others played.  After thinking about it I realized he was right.  Some of the teams FSU played were not highly ranked teams.  We did lose to Ole Miss but we beat Ms. State.  And last week we beat Auburn.  Not by a lot (11 points) but we won.  It appeared for a while Auburn would take it but the 2nd half belonged to Alabama.  I was a bit surprised at the Ga./Ga. Tech Game and the Miss. Game.

Now on to the SEC Championship game this Saturday.   Roll Tide....let's bring it back to Alabama.  I know I live in Ga. but my heart is in Alabama with my Alma Mater.  Actually with the game last Saturday, my heart was almost on the floor.  I thought I would have to put 911 on stand by.   :P

  9. I purchased annual passes on line.  Then linked them to my reservations.  We received the magic bands a few weeks ago.  We also have the ticket exchange certificate.  Do I need to take the exchange certificate to the window to get the actual paper ticket?  I would not mind doing that so the first day would be that day rather than the day we purchased the magic bands.

  10. I have to chime in now with my 2 cents worth.  If a group anywhere around our site had more cars than allowed and more than 10 people actually staying on the site I would report them and keep reporting them until those in charge got tired of my calls and did something about it.   I am a person who hates to complain and possibly spoil another's vacation, but as mentioned above, we pay a LOT to stay at the Fort and to have our vacation ruined due to people who constantly break the rules is unfair to all of us.  The squeeking wheel gets the oil....well if I squeek enough they will eventually come down on those folks just to shut me up.   Perhaps we all need to start doing that.  If enough of us complain constantly, they will eventually do something about it.   We have a right to enjoy our vacation without having it ruined by those who never follow any of the rules.  But to give the campers the benefit of a doubt, until the management comes down on them they will think it is O.K. to do what they are doing.

Most of you know us and our children and know that we love Disney World and the Fort more than any other place anywhere.  But with all we are reading this year, we may decide to spend our long Christmas Vacation in the mountains of TN next year.  I already have my reservations at the Fort but I want to enjoy the trip.  We would come to Disney for Thanksgiving so we can enjoy the lights and decorations but then head back home.

Let's all make our voices heard....speak up and don't stop until something is done.  I remember several years ago a family from

the snow country parked right across from our site.  We had gotten to know them and were really fond of them.  They had to pull a flat bed trailer behind the RV and cover everything on it to protect it from all the snow they drove through.  There was plenty of room on our site for the trailer so we told them they could park it there.  Next thing we know one of the Disney Security people was at our door asking if the trailer was ours and we told him no but that we had given the owners permission to put it there.  He said they have to move it as it is

on the grassy area.  So the family hooked it back up and took it to the overflow lot.  That one trailer was not hindering anyone's parking or anything.  But we found out that was one of the rules so we all understood.  Now we see all that is going on and no one even caring.

    Makes me literally ill. :(

  11. We did it again....good work Crimson Tide.  On now to the big Iron Bowl next Saturday.  Both teams need to play their very best if it is to be a good game.  If Alabama would play 4 quarters instead or 2 and sometimes 3, there is not a team out there who could beat them.  Even Saban said they were not ready for yesterday's game to begin.  They better be ready next Saturday.

  12. I am excited that we were able to get reservations for MVMCP, the Hoop De Doo and the Backyard barbecue.  Shawnee and Kimberly love all of them and I am sure Blake will too.  We enjoy them too and the food is always good.  We have not started packing the trailer or RV yet as we have a week trip to Mobile for Thanksgiving next week and the trailer is loaded with furniture, etc. that we are delivering to kids and siblings.   When we return home on the 30th we start loading the van with all the many boxes of Christmas decorations and theRV with food, clothing (summer and winter), diapers, etc.  The trailer will then be loaded with the golf cart, extra oxygen, medical supplies, diapers, etc. We will pull out in the afternoon of the 10th and spend the night in Lake City and then in to WDW/Fort on the 11th.  Counting the days.
