Also, we live very rurally with a long winding driveway. No trick-treaters, no close drive-bys. We don't entertain large parties. I live voraciously through decorating our fort campground.
We decorate Christmas because those are lights you can see from the road. You miss so many tiny details in Halloween. Busted bird cages with ravens. Spooky lanterns. The lettering on headstones. Yeah… I love camping during Halloween. It's my favorite time. My inner-Martha comes out. :)

Carol, I like the blow-ups. Some are awesome and we have a couple black cat blow-ups, as well as the mickey pumpkin head. But there is something about traditional Halloween that tugs at my heart. :)

We haven't been to the fort for halloween for the last three years. But I had the fog bubbles and 25 carved pumpkins. I was Martha Stewart'd out.
Yes I start early. I'll be adding to the pumpkins this year. I'm already patrolling ideas for the campground. I thought about sitting on top of this but if somebody else can bring the hitchhiking ghosts to life, I'd be just as excited. I think I'm going to do the dancing ghosts, using two or three dresses and a few masculine forms. I'll give the hitchhikers a try. Tentatively I'll use this thread to document my Halloween trials and errors. :D

Thanks Carol, you have it headed your way! :)

I might be homeless after Saturday but I'll have a sleeping bag?
We're arriving on the 9th as a family, and our check out is that Saturday during WWW. I might stay over and fly home on Monday morning though. I don't want to miss my first wild womenz
-
Is that what was going on? We checked in on the 27th. For some reason I couldn't extend our stay but I could make a new reservation. Checked out/back in on the 31st. I didn't think anything of it but I had to set a PIN. WTF? I didn't get that three days before. Checking out on Wednesday, I was told to tap my key to the Mickey head. WTF x2?
I'm used to coming back to minor changes. I'm not used to having an entire system change midstay. LOL

I had the Chinese chicken wrap at Earl of Sandwich a couple days ago. It was very good. Light on the ginger soy dressing, and heavy on the greens. It's something I'd eat here at home. :)

We're booked for the entire last week of October. 900 loop is good for us. :)
-
We'll be here all week, but I'm tentatively planning on leaving the husband and kids on Friday and Saturday to meander over to Wild Women.
Jumping in to meet new people is sometimes painfully hard for me, so apologies if I'm quiet for a bit. :)

Oh! AC in A2, I have your maps. :)

We've been here actually. Site 728 since Thursday. Five more days to enjoy the fort. Met new-to-me fiend wild women at Specularius' urging. Met a moose sized lab and Lorna's bitch. :D I count it as a successful trip already!
I'm already planning mardi gras trip. Nine lovely days and our annual pass renewal!
-
So great to meet you and the others Carol! See you tonight hopefully!

It's been a while since I spent any time lurking on the "other board". Not since our last annual pass year in 2009. I leave it to Specularius most of the time.
Spending a couple days lurking, and a few more after registering we have went from a single trip over the next year to three.
I blame everybody here. :raspberry: Four days to early check in. I can't wait. YAY!
Excited to swing by and introduce myself to some of the ladies during the GG. We'll be there as a family for Mardi Gras, and I'm planning on ditching leaving my lovely children in the capable hands of my wonderful husband. :jumpforjoy

That's just because you aren't sure where the snot would freeze, not having a mustache.
My eyebrows?
-
Not no but omg-are-you-kidding-me NO.
I don't cross the Mason Dixon after Thanksgiving. When my husband called me one night in the middle of January in Montana complaining because snot froze in his mustache, I decided that's not a place for me.

What?
Does her aunt have anything to do with admissions?
Ole' Miss is on DD's short list (LSU is on there too).
TCD
I don't think so TCD, but I could buzz her and find out.

I'm new but I hear about the fiends every day from my lurking husband. I used to go by WDWCatmom on Dis but rarely posted there. Read quite a bit until the flush though.
We're definitely going to build one of these together. Love it! :)

I know where you're coming however, not all disabilities are visible to the naked eye. My dad, despite surviving 9 heart attacks, looked like the picture of health but, he could not walk 20 yards without getting angina pains and becoming short of breath.
I don't mind personal scooters (the ones that don't say RENT ME) because the people using them in all likelihood know how to operate them. But the ECV's Disney rents and the scooters that have RENT ME plastered all over them scare the bejeezus out of me. I've been rammed in the back of my legs too many time by those darn things!! Once when trying to get into the Mexico pavillion at Epcot, I finally had to turn around and physically remove a lady's hand from the controls after she kept jerking her ECV into me!!
Disney should be forced to give personalized ECV training to people before allowing them to roll off into the park! 30 minutes training & a driving test should do the trick. That might even discourage people who don't really need them from renting one!!
Lou - I too have witnessed a LOT of people on scooters or in wheelchairs treat bus drivers with disdain. If they can't be pleasant with a stranger for only 2 minutes, imagine what it must be like living with them? I'm sure glad I don't have to.
I have to giggle at the Rent Me because our 14 yr old daughter had a major knee surgery this summer. After spending a few weeks at home she was going stir crazy. But she was miserable and wanted a break from her crutches. So it was off to Walmart and... yes the scooter.
She didn't run into anybody but it was hard to ignore the panicked backseat driving mother. Careful! Careful! Don't hit that buggy! Watch out for that rack! Don't bump into the oranges! Do Not run over my feet or I swear you won't get your drivers license until you're 21.
It was one of my most stressful trips to Walmart. But nice to have them available for temporary use. I too don't understand how these people can be so ungrateful over taking up people's time.

I just hung up with Judy. Thank you for the recommendation TCD! Crossing my fingers. :)

Oh I didn't think of parking the camper at another resort. That's an idea! Thank you so much. :)
Best Friends is completely full. We're getting an annual pass again this year, so staying through New Years might be a 2013/4 adventure.
My fingers are crossed! :)

My husband and I had planned on traveling to New Mexico after Christmas. Last week we determined that snow doesn't appear to be in the near forecasted future, and after one too many Disney Christmas photos… I picked up the phone to call our favorite reservation line.
WOOT! I managed to get a premium site for four nights between the 27th, checking out on the 31st. Last minute. Oh wow. Counting my blessings.
But we'd like to stay at least through the 1st. I'm calling every day. Still no luck. So what are our alternatives? We've had annual passes before. We visit Disney at least every 18 months. We know the parks inside and out.
But what I'd like to know is if there is any way possible to "stash" the camper (HA! I know. Spec is going to look at me like I've grown two heads) for an overnight. We're traveling with two dogs. I can also "stash" them at the Best Friends kennel and we'll just pack a small bag to stay at one of the resorts.
Are there trusted off-sites? I know it's a bunch of work but the one thing we have never seen are the New Years celebration in the Magic Kingdom.
Anyone have any other ideas? I'm afraid I need to count my lucky stars I did snag four nights and settle.

I love the special parades. I remember the year that they introduced the Electrical Parade again. We were going to miss it by just a few weeks. I was heartbroken. It was the only thing I remembered from our very first trips when I was a little girl. It's pure nostalgia, second to the water parade. And only second because as far as I know, they never removed the water parade so there wasn't anything to miss.
I was thrilled when they made it a permanent feature again. Best thing they've done in many years.
My second favorite parade is the Halloween parade.
