  1. Field to Feast event showcases Disney World's top chefs serving locally-sourced dishes If you've ever dreamed of dining with Walt Disney World’s finest chefs, you're in luck. Tickets are still available for Edible Orlando magazine's highly anticipated Field to Feast event on Saturday, Feb. 22. In its seventh year, the event will be held at Long & Scott Farms, where Disney chefs will serve dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. Wine, beer and cocktails will also be provided at the open-air soirée, which includes farm tours, live music and a raffle. The three-hour eve
  2. I'm sure they will come up with some sort of Mickey's Runaway Train desert party!
  3. Guess that's not really unexpected or new news.... ORLANDO, Fla. — Disney's U.S. theme parks saw a rise in attendance and revenue in the first quarter, the company announced Tuesday in an earnings call. Disney's US theme parks see attendance, revenue rise Attendance was up 2 percent in the first quarter Revenue increased 8 percent to $7.4 billion PREVIOUSLY: Disney: Revenue up, attendance flat at parks Revenue for the company's Parks, Experiences and Products division increased 8 percent to $7.4 billion in the three months ending in December. 5. I was just surprised that Disney gave up that exclusive perk of booking FP's early to off site hotels. Then to top it off, started to charge for parking. It might not make the once in a lifetime (or every 5 years) visitors switch to an off site hotel, but for frequent visitors it just might sway them. I also doubt they will drop the FP system, but maybe they will try to enhance it some convoluted way and make it more confusing. Like they don't have enough issues with MDE as it is now. Did you see where people had FP's for Smugglers Run, and they got changed to the Lit
  6. Don't some of the good neighbor hotels offer early booking of FP's? And with Disney jumping on the parking fee bandwagon, there is less incentive to stay on property for frequent visitors that have been there, done that.
  7. Ironically, this new system seems is similar to the original ticket books that Disney once used, where guests had to pay for each attraction individually. While the new systems would still likely have standby or other wait systems for guests without reservations, it does seem odd to revive a concept the company did away with nearly forty years ago. ================================================================ I would love to see some sort of senior citizens/old fogeys type of AP that just got you into the park and maybe allowed you access to a couple of rides per day (at a greatly
  8. Busch Gardens and SeaWorlds do a paid FP type of system. But that's how it always was.
  9. Though we are in that sweet spot at the moment where the parks at Walt Disney World don’t feel as busy as they do during the Summer and holiday months of the year, attendance is beginning to grow again due to guests flocking into the parks for Galaxy’s Edge. The Walt Disney Company has decided to make a couple of adjustments to theme park hours at both Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Magic Kingdom park hours As the Magic Kingdom still reigns supreme as the busiest park at Walt Disney World, it’s not surprising that Disney wants to try and extend the park hours for
  10. Nothing confirmed fully yet. Right now it's a wait and see.
  11. We walked by there the other day and it wasn’t there.
  12. Expect ticket price increases at Disney World, along with a possible overhaul of FastPass+ As with death and taxes, increases in ticket prices at Walt Disney World are inevitable. If past trends tell us anything, Disney will be increasing their ticket prices again sometime within the next few weeks, but this year the change might point to something bigger. It’s no secret that FastPass+ hasn’t been the runaway success Disney had hoped for, despite reportedly spending well north of a billion dollars on the project. Recent years have seen the company try to salvage the progra
  13. Seems like they might’ve relaxed them. Didn’t see banner planes, but heard and saw others over the property
  14. There have always been rule breakers and idiots that ruin it for everyone else. But I think it has become more prevalent with the last couple of 'me" generations where the world revolves around each individual and everyone gets a trophy! That and the proliferation of lawyers and those obnoxious Roz commercials!
  15. Well the trams are good enough for all the parking lot visitors! Those old style ones without the safety doors sure made loading/unloading a lot quicker than the buses and the new parking lot trams.
  16. I don't remember the paddle boats in the Fort canals, but I do remember then at the beach. They also had those horrible, leg cramping, giant water tricycles! I remember pontoon bicycles also, but they might've been at another hotel we stayed at.
  17. We are in 1500 and on 3 sites there are no campers/tents. One site has an easy up as a camp kitchen. Every site has 3 to 4 cars parked everywhere. All the tents are on the hillside behind the sites along the canal ! At least the kids/scouts are well behaved

  19. I never noticed how much the zoo charged, we had a reciprocal pass. It's an amazing place, better than the Bronx Zoo or the Houston Zoo. They have a huge dome that simulates a desert climate. A butterfly house. Regular zoo. Ape house Indoor bayou. And another huge building that is like a rain forest. You walk among the tree tops then descend onto the jungle floor.
  20. They have reciprocal agreements with other zoos if you have a pass
  21. My daughter lived there for a few years. We visited a handful of times, both in winter and summer. As with any city it has it's good and bad spots. Agreed, it looks a little rough seeing it from the interstates, but the downtown core and the areas surrounding it are very nice. If you can, you should really stop and spend a day at the zoo if nothing else. Any train buffs in your family? https://www.lauritzengardens.org/About/Kenefick_Park/ http://www.uprrmuseum.org/uprrm/
  22. At least they are consistent in their inconsistencies!
  23. The OKC science museum is fantastic, and that was back in the 80's! These may not be in your lines of travels, but keep them in mind for future trips Charlotte NC has a good science museum and a NASCAR museum Omaha has a great kids museum, art museum, history museum, train museum, and probably one of the greatest zoos you will ever see! Plus they have a pedestrian bridge spanning the river to Iowa. https://www.visitomaha.com/things-to-do/attractions/ Minneapolis/St Paul has a great science museum with hands on experiments guided by docents, and of course the Mall of America
