  1. Oh, I wouldn't say that... just that Santa wants all the boys and girls to be nice to each other, and whether he hands out presents or a lump of coal (or gentle correction) he does so to foster a more generous and kind spirit. You were not being very nice to that fellow from Minnesota who had never worn shorts before and thought the socks were a practical addition. Picking on my attire (beloved by millions) in not helping your case, young man. On with the TR. I'm enjoying the blackberries despite the prickles, so to speak.
  2. That is funny! Definitely different strokes for different folks... as long as we can all agree that the Fiero was a fiasco! Lol
  3. I'll throw in my "thoughts and feelings" on this subject. We fell in love with my Toyota Tundra Crewmax Limited long before we even thought of towing a trailer. We looked at other brands of trucks and everything else was reminiscent of U-Haul interiors. The Tundra looked like a nice passenger car inside, with all the bells and whistles. And the back seat is enormous! This thing in more roomy, front and back, than my DeVille was. With the rear glass and other windows rolled down and the skylight open it feels almost like a convertible. 4x8 sheet goods are fully supported with the tailgate down.
  4. And, while I'm giving you grief, you DROVE to start your pub-crawl date and then you take the BUS to DTD!? That's sheer insanity... Rain and hairspray be damned! And this from a guy who uses a lot of hairspray (you try maintaining this much beard without spray!).
  5. Obviously, I'm way behind and just reading this now, but I simply must take you to task on this: Seriously? This from the guy who was giddy over being served a fruit-yogurt salad a few pages ago? Man card, indeed!
  6. I'm just curious, as a happy Tundra owner, it sounds like you were satisfied with the way your rig towed before you changed trucks so why did you ditch the Tundra? My rig is not quite as heavy as yours, but I've been delighted with the power and handling so far. Just wondering.
  7. Well, as Santa, I get a lot of feedback from folks about the "lengthening of the season". People actually seek me out to complain that Lowe's has Christmas stuff out in October... like it was my idea! I was hoping that sentiment might keep the crowds low for early MVMCP's.
  8. I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but I've been looking everywhere and can't seem to find current info on the matter... How does one go about taking delivery of off-site cart rentals these days. Do you have to meet them at the overflow lot gate and swipe them in, or what? Is security really bird dogging the lot looking to harass delivery guys? What's the 811... no, that's for digging, 9... no, not that, oh 411 (I know the importance of being hip!).
  9. That's a bummer. We'll bring the "mifi" and HOPE to get a cable modem. The Fort is 3G-only with our SP. Maybe if the connection sucks bad enough I can pull my wife away from her laptop!
  10. I've done MVMCP two or three times and would like to go again this trip, but the only date that would work well for us is opening night, November 8th, which is a Friday. I'm not sure if this means the crowds will be huge or tiny. I can see it going either way. Has anyone been to it so early in the season?
  11. I have the castle in vector art (.ai) if you need it, just pm me an email.
  12. We've always had dsl so I don't know much about cable-based Internet, so excuse my ignorance, but is there a certain "type" of cable modem needed to connect to the Fort, or will any generic cable modem work? We hit a lot of garage sales and I know I've passed on dozens of the things, but if I can pick one up for a couple of bucks it'd be good insurance against finding the Fort's modems were all checked out. My wife will doubtless spend many hours working during our trip, so we need reliable Internet. TIA
  13. Wow, scary! I've melted a 30 amp plug due to loose connections, but at least the melting smoking bits were outside!

  15. Oh... Ok. I figured the first word, guessed the second wrong as "my" and, well, oh.... Uh... Nevermind!
  16. Ummm, obviously I've been away too long... SMB? Is that defined in Carol's abbreviations thread?
  17. Ho! How funny to be scrolling through new posts and see this title thread! Yes, we do have a trip-worthy camper now, and we are planning a Fort stay this fall. I have a pre-planning thread going, here: http://www.fortfiends.net/forum/topic/8664-christmassy-boost-2013/ Thanks for the kind thought and wishes!
  18. Just pulled into site 25 last night. Sitting under the awning, enjoying the sound of the breeze in the trees, ipad in hand glad for the free wifi.... FREE WIFI!?!? Obviously I'm not at the Fort! No, I'm 10 hours away at Mama Gertie's near Asheville.
  19. Oh, and before anyone points out that the trailer is nose-high in my siggy... I lowered the hitch a couple of inches today! Thanks again, guys!
  20. Well, not that it makes any sense, but everything is working now. I cleaned the battery terminals and everything is on. Don't ask me how the fan worked before but the lights didn't if there was no battery connection!? Anyway, thanks for chiming in, fiends. We're probably going seen outta town tomorrow for a couple of nights in Asheville (3.5hrs up the road) and give this thing a real trial.
  21. I just can't imagine they'd put ALL the interior lights on one circuit. But I will test each tomorrow, once we get it up the driveway. Right now its parked on the street, and I'm not keen on being inside based on the number of accidents we've had on our street.
  22. Hey guys, I'm having a problem with my trailer I just bought; the interior lights won't work even though the battery has juice (house meter says 2/3 charge and my multimeter reads 13v). The radio, fridge and fans work (off of the same battery) but NONE of the house lights work (chassis lights are fine). The trailer is still hooked to the truck, and I thought this might be some kind of safety feature to discourage riding in the trailer on the road. But I unplugged the 7-pin and still no joy. I don't see any blown fuses. And the lights worked when on shore power (actually, I haven't tried this s
