  1. Or you could luck out and get a lakeside 600 loop site and pitch your tent way off the site down by the water in a nice grassy meadow... mgmnt doesn't seem to mind.
  2. According to the Ford F-150 manual, the highest payload capacity is 2,090lbs for the 5.0L long-wheelbase, regular cab. You may want to review your source for your numbers if they say 3100lbs, cause that sounds like F-250 territory.
  3. It might, you don't know! :raspberry: I'm waiting to hear back from the seller what the dimension is front bumper to rear-wheel-center, and hoping it is basically a regular chassis with a lot of body hanging off the back. Truth be told, this is one of the least practical things I have ever wanted, but I've been wanting to make a sleigh-golf-cart for years
  4. Thanks, good to be back. Between there being a real possibility of a trip to the Fort next November, and a local guy selling a "limo" cart for a good price, I'm back in the saddle!
  5. Well, I'm figuring based on my Tundra's 1600 lb payload capacity. And I had been told a typical steel framed 6-battery cart runs @1200 lbs, but let's assume 900 is right. Back out 450 lb for me and my wife, 250 lb for gas, and there is no capacity left for hitch weight or other payload in the cab. Figure a 6000 lb 24' travel trailer and figure minimum 10% tongue weight (600lbs) and even your more capable Silverado would be 300 lb overweight, as I understand it. Now, I have heard that payload ratings are figured without regard to gas weight and allow for a 180 lb driver(?). If that's right, you
  6. How would you transport a cart? Your signature pic looks like you have a non-toyhauler travel trailer and a short bed truck. I know some short carts can fit in a 6.5' bed with the tailgate removed, but even then the weight of an electric cart is far in excess of what most trucks can haul in their bed, nevermind the hitch weight of the trailer. I'm asking because I'm in a similar situation.
  7. If I am elected I promise to continue to uphold three values: I'll be loud, obnoxious, and.... uh.... one other thing (do any of you remember the other thing?)... LOL
  8. If you want "the best loop", it has been objectively confirmed that 500 is the best. Others have their opinions, but if you're looking for objective fact...
  9. Wow, yeah, I thought it was tough at $60 per person and that was with the "a" team still playing. I'm not sure I can bring myself to revisit the Hoop at those prices and none of the crew I love (except David), it's just too likely I'll be disappointed. I'll have to cling to my memories.
  10. Just a little bump... surely there are others going to MK before Christmas. TIA
  11. That is very cool. I thought I knew a lot of the history of the Hoop and Pioneer Hall, but I had never heard anything about the outdoor, street-scene performance. Very interesting idea, but it would be hard to watch; you'd only have a good view of a couple of stages I'd think. Thanks for sharing!
  12. Seriously, all this talk of Mark Spitz in this trip report and now he's on Hell's Kitchen tonight?! There has to be a conspiracy! I honestly haven’t heard that name in a decade, at least, and now I see him on TV? Too weird!
  13. Actually, it was Dutch... which is related to German but is really a different language (kinda like Yiddish to Hebrew, AIUI anyhow). I love that little song... ♪Sinterklaas kapoentje♫ ♫Gooi wat in mijn schoentje♪ ♪Gooi wat mijn laarsje♫ ♫Dank je Sinterklaasje♪ (oh, for those that don't speak Dutch: "Santa Claus, I beg of you, throw something in my shoe, throw something in my stocking too, thank you Santa Claus") Ho, ho, HO!
  14. That would be great Ed. I can tell you from personal experience that receiving encouragement as Santa from a Jewish person is extra special. I had a woman and her child wait in line to see me, and when I was asking the child over to sit on my lap, Mom explained that they don't do that, "we're Jewish" but she wanted to tell me I was the best looking Santa she'd ever seen. I asked her son if he'd had fun playing with the dreidel, and if he knew what the letters stood for. I found out he was learning the hebrew alphabet, and when I started singing the alphabet you could have pushed Mom over with
  15. Thanks in advance, Pam! Please be sure to report back after your visit, and have a wonderful trip!
  16. Whew, I made it to the end... 16 pages in three hours! Now what am I supposed to entertain myself with? Great report TCD, always love 'em.
  17. I KNEW my ears were burning! I kept putting off reading this trip report because I was so behind on it. Say, did you know that in some parts of the world they leave Santa a beer or even a whiskey (and no, it's not so much rednecks as folks in the UK and parts of Germany!).
  18. I voted "original flush", since I was "over there" during the flush, though I was not a flushee. I guess I was really a 'personal referral' since I learned about "over here" from fiends who pm'ed me or wrote me on facebook to let me know where folks were landing, but I figured that category was more intended for folks who were new fiends and only found FF because an existing fiend told them about it... boy, this is a confusing poll! Good luck on collating the answers, Carol! LOL
  19. Yeah, he contacted me and thanked me for sending the encouragement his way after reading this thread. I tried initially to deny any knowledge, but the evidence was overwhelming. But even now that he knows I'm behind it, I think it would really be cool for folks to drop by and encourage him. (BTW, I'm assuming we are both just embracing the snarkiness, and that neither is really being testy... right? I really do appreciate your visit.)
  20. Yes, lie! Lie your little butt off! Everyone else does! "Santa, I've been an angel all year... really" Puhleeesee! It's ok, it would have been real easy to ferret out the info even if you hadn't spilled the beans (loosed the cat from the bag, sold me out, gave up the game, blabbed) because a Google search of "Oliver, Santa, Uptown" brings up this thread as the top hit. Man it's hard to keep a secret in this digital world.
  21. Well, one visit and the cat's out of the bag... Lou, don't they teach you guys ANYTHING about making magic at Disney U anymore?! It was supposed to be a SECRET as to how you knew he was Santa. You weren't supposed to give him the web address where he could find this thread. Bus drivers... tsk, tsk. Seriously though, thanks for going to visit him, Lou. Though the magic was sucked dry, the encouragement was effective, and that's really what I was after. Anyone else who thinks the picture above looks like a great Santa, please still don't hesitate to stop by and say "I believe in you, Santa". I
  22. Another big thanks, guys! Yes, I know why he's questioning his role, and no, you don't really want to know. I'm just hoping with some positivity and encouragement he'll (we'll) be able to look past the junk and remember the kids and the real reason we do what we do. Plus, he's in a pretty competitive market... let's face it, Orlando has no shortage of retirees who can grow year round beards and could use a little extra income. Once he gets established he'll do very well, but the first few years can be tough. Thanks for helping me help him hang in there!
  23. Thanks so much guys, the more the merrier! I'm sure this will really give him a boost! He's a great guy and just too good looking in the role to hang it up. Thanks again.
