  1. And NOW we see how to get to 5,000 in a few months... double posts, lots of em! TCD, I am blown away that you have given away so many spikes! I thought I was hot stuff crawling through a wall of brambles to find two, and here you're giving them out like cookies and milk! Serious props, my friend!
  2. I have a pair of old fashioned wired speakers that I use. They are Yamahas, and have great sound, especially when paired with my Carver m400 cube amp (nice small package). The speakers are a weather-proof variety, but I don't recall the model. I use these speakers for my Christmas lights display at home as well.
  3. Thanks once again to everyone for the warm reception of my little labor of love. Heck, I can't incubate children so I have to find SOME way of exercising creativity and benefiting society!
  4. Add one more to the reader count. Mighty good to see you back and posting, Andrew. I've been pretty absent, too, but will certainly be checking in more now that the legend is back on board! That is, of course, assuming you made it out alive... but, if not, how did this all get posted... oops, didn't mean to post a spoiler!
  5. Whew, thanks for all the responses. I guess I was figuring the (nearly) empty weight of a 24' being around 5000# and the tongue weight being about 10% of that I'd only have to lift 500 lbs with the dolly and then it'd be fairly easy to push around (aka a stalled car). I was even thinking if I loaded the rear with weight I might be able to do the whole job by hand. Oh well. How about if I overinflate the tires and lather the drive with baby oil? This (http://www.parkit360.com/pricing/p360l/usa.html) is a cool solution, but pretty spendy... about the same as a riding lawnmower. How about a 4 whe
  6. We were in 358 last trip and thought it a nice deep site and very convenient to the CS. I think 301, 302, 305, 306, 308, 309, 349 to 358, and 360 are all good sites: close to the CS and the bus stop. There are lots of other good sites if you prefer quiet to convenience. If you have any kind of larger rig do not accept an assignment to 361... it is nearly impossible to get a large rig into because of the tight turn and the angle into the site. HIH
  7. Ok guys, here's an odd one. How big of a TT can you move by hand? I am considering a TT but don't have the room to turn it around in my drive with the truck attached, and my street is too busy to attempt to back up the drive. I know there are dollys available to assist with the task, but just how much is too much? My drive has a fairly large, flat turnaround, so there should be no real risk of it getting away from me. I think a 24' TT would probably be about the size we'd be interested in. TIA!
  8. Oh, sorry, I just read the "with children" part of your question! I know nothing about doing EPCOT with kids. I'd certainly make TurtleTalk a priority.
  9. Epcot is our favorite park, so if we only had one day this is where we'd be. Soarin' & Listen to the Land Test Track Ice Station Cool Mexico (for browsing and ambiance, not the ride) Maelstrom Stop in China if a show is going Shop Germany Grab a slice of pizza to share in Italy's new quick service American Adventure Poke around Morocco Poke around Japan Dinner at Chefs de France Impressions de France film Skip UK and poke around Canada and see the film Return to UK, shop, get a fish n chips and beers and camp out lakeside for Illuminations That's a great day in our books. Oh, don't forget
  10. Ahhhh, such fertile ground! LOL! I'll resist. First, the file you would have downloaded from Google is an installer program that sets up Google Earth to run on your computer. If you have not double-clicked on the downloaded file, do that first and follow the prompts. Once you have installed Google Earth, try just opening the program itself. You should get a window with a lot of tools around the outside and a globe in the middle, like this: If you don't get a screen that looks a lot like that, then you need to contact Google's tech support. If you do get that screen, go to the File menu and ch
  11. How about a classic Disney at night shot... remember the acrylic sculpture before the tombstones were installed?
  12. I'm a woodworker as well. My time has been more occupied with renovation work than woodworking, though. With any luck I'll be building bathroom cabinetry this summer and maybe a kitchen full of cabinets by the winter. I have plans for a nice wood shop in the barn, but for now am trying to make do in the basement, which is really hard to get materials into and finished projects out of.
  13. I'm glad so many folks find this to be a useful resource. As for moving it here... I made it for the use of Fort Fiends, so where else could it be but FortFiends.net? For now I am leaving the old info and links intact "over there" but I won't be advertising updates or responding to questions about the maps on that site. This is the new home for FW Site Maps, and the project page will soon reflect that fact. Thanks Jen for making a Fiend friendly home for us!
  14. Yeah, the project-status site will need some major re-work to get it up to date. I was more worried about getting the info in post #1 right, and getting the GE data up to date. Thanks for reminding me that my work is not done though! LOL
  15. Along with the help of a few 'operatives' (TCD, FlaFortCampster, DisneyBishops, Tiggntaz, and others) I have developed a resource to address a particular need in the Fort Fiend community: Every map available for Fort Wilderness only list the loops numbers and they are not drawn to scale... until now! Announcing the Fort Wilderness GoogleEarth Site Map. This is still an early version and there are many improvements to come, but I wanted to release it now to keep others from duplicating my efforts, especially due to the recent interest in such a resource. Since there are improvements to come, my
  16. I'd be sure to request the outside of the loop (water side) since many of the inside sites back RIGHT up to the sidewalk and road. Also note that the loop does not have it's own comfort station, and there are none close by, either, so it's best to have your own usable facilities or a golf cart.
  17. On our last trip in 2009 Christmastime, we went to California Grill and it was about the best meal we've ever had at Disney... and dining is the main attraction of WDW for us so we've eaten at most of the better restaurants. We had stellar service, too. That said, I would not have enjoyed the atmosphere in the main dining room, loud and crowded. We were fortunate to be seated in the Wine Cellar which was dramatically quieter, roomier, and intimate. The view is far less dramatic, basically looking out over woodlands with MGM in the distance instead of the dramatic view of the MK. But that was t
  18. In season Sears and Kmart have surprisingly good selections online. I also got some good Disney bits from Walgreens and Lowes. Walmart generally has very little by comparison. This time of year you'll have to resort to eBay or CraigsList.
  19. Which loop is the best. And would anybody be willing to sublet their site for a couple of afternoons? (smokers, cussers, and folk who won't loan bikes need not reply)
  20. No, not lame at all. I loved touring the "fishbowl". I only got to do it once in the original version, where you got to actually watch the animators work. As I recall they were working on Beauty and the Beast and I remember thinking to myself how lame this film was going to be with teapots and candlesticks as main characters... lol, just shows I don't have the imagination it takes to be an animator since I think the end result was wonderful. Nowadays DHS is my least favorite park, even though I like ToT, RnRC, TS, LAM, F! and of course, Osborne Lights. The theming just seems pretty thin there,
  21. I don't know, which is more relaxing, having a predetermined schedule that you set up at home, or racing through the park at rope drop to grab a fast pass for X and then racing somewhere else to meet your party to ride Y and then hoping the wait for Z will be short enough during the parade to do standby? Disney did a good job developing a workable fastpass system, I bet they can make reservations work... The hitch is they are lousy at web development, so that part of the implementation might be the Achelies heel.
