  1. There was no line at all when we pulled in at 11am this morning - there were RV's in each lane save 1 - pull up and checked in quicker than ever before. Sites were 60-70% empty - but has filled up over the day.

I know lots of folks were moved to Monday check-ins from Saturday, so hopefully no busier than normal- campers that were displaced  moved back in today.

Just got back from the Fort spoke to Ken. He said it will not reopen today he can guarantee it. He said it will reopen tomorrow but did not know what time.

Good to know - was the overflow lot empty or full of displaced campers?   We are due to arrive tomorrow. I had hoped to avoid the chaos of everybody trying to get back in, but chaos at the Fort is better than no Fort at all...

One of the Facebook sites "I love camping at Disney" had a report that they will let folks back in at Noon tomorrow.  What a check in line that will be!   I'm hoping to get there about 10-11 and hopefully they will let me park in overflow - go to MK and let the chaos die down before trying to set up.

I just spoke with Guest Services - they are planning on having the Fort reopen sometime tomorrow (Saturday 10/8) but he said that is still not definite as they are still under a warning until 8 tonight.

Are they open Saturday?  One thing I read said the Fort is closed thru Saturday

Looks like they were being cautious - hurricane info page now says closed thru Fri - (today)

Sweet!  - wasn't sure how I was going to juggle Em and Zach flying in - sure didn't want to be checking in when everyone else was moving back in.

I tried to get a clients check in switched back to Subday but currently not being allowed to check in till Monday right now.

We've are scheduled to check in Sunday - friends of ours who were scheduled to get there Sat got the email to call and rescheduled - so far we've not been informed of anything and are prepping to leave in the morning (stopping in Valdosta, GA tomorrow and coming down 75).

If we don't hear anything today, we may call tonight just to make sure, but hoping they are just being cautious till it's over later today....

  6. If you like to be in the thick of the action - 500 loop is great and your motorhome would be fine there. Since you have a cart, you don't need to worry about being close to a bus stop, etc.  Have you downloaded the FortFiends app for your phone?  Able to see the length and a picture of the site as well as back in difficulty.

I'm sure there are some folks that use satellite who will be along shortly.

  7. Welcome Reubenray!  I'm afraid I can't answer the question about Satellite, but I'm sure another Fiend will be along shortly to give you some info. In the meantime, can you tell us a few things that may help?

-Size of your rig (some loops are tighter and sites deeper than others)

    - How close you want to be to the trading post, the dog park, etc.  Some folks here like to be in the heart of the action and others like to be farther away in more quiet loops.

We've stayed in the 500 loop a few times and it's right across from the dog park and not far from the Marina. But when we went from a 24 to a 40 foot rig, I think it's a bit tight for larger rigs. YMMV

Other Fiends will be along shortly to put their two cents in!  Welcome!!

    What a saturday!

What happened to your dog's Kelly? I was in the grove watching your team beating them Vols until heading to the stadium to find out later that they dropped the game. I was pulling for your team.

I'm quietly smiling on the outside, but on the inside I'm whooping and holler'n "GBO!!!!"   How do you spell DOG?  (Sorry Kelly..)

I haven't had season tickets in probably 18 years - they sent a link to all previous season ticket holders when Vols beat FL last week - guess who has season tickets for next year?

    Hope springs eternal..

  9. If Disney would step in and say, choose several outside groups (Boys and Girls club, etc) to sponsor a SET amount of outside trick or treaters who might not get the same type of opportunity normally, I would be fine with that (and keep everyone else not a paying guest out - I'd be fine with that.   I love trick or treaters and truthfully and looking forward to our ressies in 2017.

That being said - reading some of these posts have made me scratch my head and wonder what I've signed up for....

We had the Disney Channel on and off when the kids were growing up ( our baby just turned 29). Fast forward and now the grandkids watch it.  What utter trash!

Amen - I used to watch (with my sons of course!)  and for a kid who grew up with 3 whole TV channels and cartoons only on Saturday mornings it was amazing to me that there was 24 hour cartoons and shows. My oldest son (who is 24) loved "Doug" and the 90's cartoons and I introduced him to the old Looney Tunes and MM that I enjoyed as a kid.

No little kids at home now - when I'm channel surfing and run across Disney/CN/Nick - bleh.  We are waiting 2 more months to cancel our Direct-TV and going to just internet based providers.  Gimme my Walking Dead/Game of thrones and a bit of Breaking Bad and Justified re-runs and I'm good..

If I want a decent Disney movie, it's the same thing - when are they going to make something as profound as The Lion King again?  Frozen? - not even.  Sorry - waiting for them to stop RE-making stuff (Pete's Dragon, etc) and make something GREAT!

  11. As most true Vol fans, I've learned to have a thick skin - never seen a team that could snatch defeat from the jaws of complete victory so often...

Be better if my freshman year (was in the band) wasn't the year we walloped the 'Canes in the Sugar Bowl - was a great ride for over a decade!  We'll get there again - just got to give Kiffen, er Dooley..no no Jones time to rebuild!!!  <_<

Up the middle, up the middle, up the middle, PUNT!
