Kazlac4 3 Posted August 31, 2015 Report Share Posted August 31, 2015 We were in site 333 last October right after a pretty long spell of rain, and the area between our camper the one next to us was completely flooded the whole week we were there. The canal area ran right behind our site (we were near the curve) and there was a small alligator seen multiple times swimming his way through the canal. I would refuse this site if again offered when flooded because the standing water next to us was a mosquito haven, but otherwise the trip was great! Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Most sites seemed to be ok over the weekend, and we had a couple of good downpours. Puddles here and there. But, there are mini lakes in the low areas between the sites because the ground just can't soak up the water fast enough. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Unless there's a LOT of rain in a relatively short period of time, most loops drain pretty well. Even if it does rain a bunch, if you keep all your stuff up on the camping pad, you should generally be ok. When we got dumped on last November in the 300 loop, between the sites was a bit squishy for a while, but the pads themselves drained off fine. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

geoffdaddy 33 Posted September 11, 2015 Report Share Posted September 11, 2015 The last time we went to the fort there was a lot of standing water around the 1600 loop, and it wasn't like that for very long! We had some really heavy rains Saturday and some yesterday. We walked some loops yesterday and there is quite a bit of standing water. We are in the 200 loop and we are fine. However, the 400 and 700 loops had water in the campsites and in places the loop's roads were covered about 2/3 across with water. The ground is really saturated but it is going down a bit.
