Avast adventurers! If it be barbecue you’re after, head to Tortuga Tavern in Magic Kingdom Park. Keep a weather eye open, a brand-new menu debuts tomorrow, October 14, at the seasonal Adventureland eatery.

New menu items include barbecue sandwiches with either pulled pork, sliced beef brisket or grilled chicken breast, all served on Texas toast with beans and cole slaw. Vegetarians, or anyone looking for a lighter meal will enjoy the roasted corn and vegetable salad, served with vinaigrette dressing. Barbecue beef brisket or chicken can also be added to the salad.

Which new menu item are you looking forward to trying?

I thought a BBQ theme would work with Tortuga since its origins are the Caribbean. They could have also overlapped some of the Mexican menu just by using slightly different spices. After seeing the official menu it's become obvious Disney doesn't know the difference between Pirates and Cowboys having put in more of a Texas style BBQ.

Overall

Oh, Tortuga Tavern. Seriously, I wish this place was open more often. The attention to detail and decor is one of the best in the park for quick service, and though the menu is certainly on the simple side, things are typically well-executed and fresh. If the Tavern happens to be open during your next trip to the Magic Kingdom, it remains worth checking out… if ye be brave enough to hang your own hat among the pirates, that is!
