Travisma 1,317 Posted October 26, 2016 Report Share Posted October 26, 2016 Though not as crowded as WDW, Busch Gardens in Tampa has metal detectors at every line, and everyone goes thru them. LEGOLAND wands everyone going into the park. Maybe WDW needs to step up their game, add more bag screening lines and metal detectors to ease the congestion. And just to play Devils advocate, there are plenty of places to do harm on property long before you get a parks entrance. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I have to say they were a lot tighter with security last week than what I experienced back in May. It was only when he was randomly selected after bag check that he admitted having it. The other article says "At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests without bags are now being directed down a new route where they are forced to be screened a metal detector." Shouldn't they be requiring EVERYONE bag check or not to go through the metal detector then? Over Labor Day weekend my one son gave the rest of us his "stuff" to carry (rain jacket and water bottle) before bag check so that he could go through the quicker bagless line and I could have sworn he always went through a metal detector. At least once, at Epcot, he met back up with us and said they'd said the metal detector wasn't working so everyone could just go through and he was concerned about that. Sunday at the MK with a bag I got "selected" to go thru the detector, my wife without a bag walked right in. Sunday at EPCOT again without bags, a guard walked towards me but kept going, so I went around the detector. My wife thought she had to go thru it so she did. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Quote ORLANDO, FL (WKRG/WFLA) — Florida authorities have arrested a Mobile woman after they found a loaded handgun in her backpack at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando. 23-year-old Baleigh Turner of Mobile, Alabama was found with the pistol at the front gate of the theme park on Monday. The gun, a .380 caliber Taurus pistol, was in a holster with a magazine holding six bullets when it was discovered at the front gate by a Disney employee. None of the bullets were in the chamber of the gun. Deputies responded to the bag check table at a Disney employee’s request. Turner told deputies she had a weapons permit issued in Alabama where she lives. The deputy called the issuing agency in Alabama and was told Turner’s concealed weapons permit expired on Jan. 29, 2016. The deputy arrested Turner on a charge of carrying a concealed firearm without a valid permit. Turner was the second person arrested on Monday for trying to bring a loaded gun into an Orlando Disney theme park. A Louisiana man was arrested and banned from all Walt Disney World properties after attempting to enter Epcot with a loaded firearm. Turner does not have a criminal record in Mobile County. It is unknown if she was attempting to enter the park with her family or friends.
