Just my speculation here, I have no inside info, but I could imagine them applying a DVC-style points model for APs, where instead of blackout dates, you get a limited pool of "park points" that would allow you to enter the parks. Low-traffic days would be cheaper in "points" than high-traffic days, to encourage AP holders to come when crowds are lower. The most expensive new "Annual Pass" would provide you with enough points to attend 365 days if you wanted, but would be "if you have to ask" expensive, where cheaper APs would give you enough for maybe a few days a month, or a longer vacation once or twice a year.

It sounds like a way for Disney to incent AP holders to visit on slower days without the backlash of blackout dates. If they set the points low enough I could also see this as having the potential of attracting visitors to their resorts during the slow times too.

Later that afternoon David had his own "I Need to Do WHAT" moment when he got carded at the trading post for buying a bottle of wine.

Been there, done that. I tell the person doing the carding, in good humor, that there is a certain age where being carded isn't a compliment.

The inability to get reservations is a complaint on every RV forum I follow and it is at all levels, State, County and even private CG.  The RV sales boom started in 2016 and has just gotten worse so you have many more competing for what's out there.  People say that if you don't start looking the day the reservation window opens you probably won't get one.

The pandemic hasn't helped much either. The two state campgrounds we could always go to on the spur of the moment even last spring are now booked solid months ahead. The rangers say it is mostly families with their kids who are on remote learning. My RV dealer also said they've seen an uptick in sales since the pandemic as families use camping as a way to get away from the house without having to be close to a lot of people.

If you all need a good laugh, my 72 year old husband just got carded at the trading post when he tried to buy a bottle of wine!

While I've got a ways to go to get to my 70's I've been carded as an obvious senior as well. Its usually a new cashier trying to do everything by the book. To needle them a little bit tell them after a certain age it is no longer a compliment to be carded for that well deserved container of alcohol.

Wish we could go to the Fort but it doesn't look like we will be going for quite some time due to family changes. I have become the daytime caretaker of DD2's 3 month old while she is at work and she doesn't have oodles of vacation time so Rene and I can take off. We did suggest we could take granddaughter with us but I can't repeat the response here. So until some future point our camping trips will be limited to places we can get to within and hour or two on a Friday evening.

It all depends on which site you end up with, the FORT has no set location for the utilities. Some are in the middle some are near the rear.

Some are in the front as well.

It depends upon where you wish to trailer on the pad and where your connections are. We like to be all the way back on the pad and I've needed 30 ft of sewer hose to go from the back of our trailer to the sewer hookup. The same for our electric service where I needed to use our extension chord. Water and cable have never been problems as I carry a 50 ft water hose and cable cable in addition to 10 footers of each.

  6. For future reference there should be a way to manually retract the landing gear. It usually entails disconnecting the power to each leg solenoid and manually opening the valve. After that the power to the pump is disconnected and you use a power drill to run the pump through the manual control fitting. Once the legs are up you reconnect the electrical. I can't say how easy it will be to get to your RV's components but it is worthwhile looking into for the time the hammer doesn't work.

  7. We had planned a trip to the Fort for February of next year as this year we needed to get up to the Chicago area to see Rene's folks. The virus threw all of those plans out the window and left us in limbo since her folks have talked about visiting us next year but have no idea of when. If they comer earlier in the year we might try for F&W between Halloween and Thanksgiving.

  8. I've always liked the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett and finished reading the series earlier this year. I'm currently close to the end of  Johnathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke and haven't decided what I'll look to read next. I've thought about going back and reading the Foundation series since I haven't read them in something like 40 years. I've also toyed with the same idea for Kurt Vonnegut whose books I haven't read since high school.

One of my girls really liked the Xanth series when she was in high school. I never read it but will keep it in mind. My problem is when I find a series I like I binge until I've read the full set and since I'm the type who purchases a book without ever getting rid of it shelf space can be scarce.

  9. It sounds like the audio feed from the TV to the head unit. Given the age of everything I suspect the TV only provides a left and right audio signal to the head unit. You might look to see if the TV has a digital audio output of some type (coax RCA, fiber optic or HDMI) and that the head unit can accept a digital audio input. If both can handle then the owners manuals should be able to tell you how to hook it all up. This should allow a surround sound signal assuming the TV station is sending one.
