  1. I agree, switch to an LT tire. We had the same issue with our Ram 1500 when we put tires on it. We had a small 24' hybrid at the time and I replaced my P tires with another set of P tires (General Grabber P tire and not the LT). Shortly after that we upgraded to a new trailer and before we knew it our P rated tires had collapsing sidewalls. They had about 7500 on them and they couldn't handle the added weight of the new trailer. We pulled them and put LTs on in a slightly larger size. Night and day difference. We put a Michelin LTX A/T tire (they now make this as an LTX A/T 2 and I have these on my 2500) on. One of the best tires I have ever owned and we got 48000 out of them. There was about 1/4 tred left when we traded the 1500 in for a 2500.

  2. The tires have been replaced. I now understand the crappy quality the stock tires are. The new ones are load rated e but the wheels are only good to 2150lbs. I called Goodyear and they said that keeping them under the max pressure is fine and recommended 50psi which matches the wheel load rating. They also have this on their website and they sent me a link to the psi/load ratings for their tires.

Only issue was that it took them most of the day to get there. Not a big deal since we had a ft day planned. Took him about 2 hours to swap them out. With that out of the way we are now enjoying the atmosphere over at the Maya Grill at Coronado.

  3. First of all thanks Nurse to for the recommendation.

Got a hold of Wingfoot and they are on they way. Going to replace all 4 tires to be safe. Putting the endurance tires on. Load range e and will have to keep the pressure down since the wheels are only rated to 2150lbs according to the manufacturer. Goodyear said 50lbs will be fine and safe for the tire as long as we do t exceed the wheel weight capacity.

Here is one of the splits. There were 3 others but when we woke up this morning 2 of them became one so now 3 larger cracks. Glad it didn' blow on the road.

  4. We're here and checked in. Had to park in the sand lot. It' a madhouse at the moment.

With that said, anyone know of a mobile tire replacement service? Once we parked I noticed one of the tires has a sidewall splitting. Wasn' that way this morning at our last stop so we got lucky to not have a blowout.

  5. So today is my 37th birthday and I am re-emerging from the slump I have been in the past few months. After a delaying our trip at thanksgiving because lightning struck our house a week before leaving (2nd time this happened to us between 2 houses) we are now packed up. Here at 8:30 we will be pulling out of Ohio to the Ft. Good things come in 3s right? So far this morning we have the trip, our tax return showed up, and the wife got me 2 LPs I wanted for a while now. It' turning out to be the best birthday ever......now bring on the 18-20 hour drive.

The diesels in the half tons are mainly for gas mileage and not pulling power. I owned a 2012 Silverado duramax and loved it. I just didn't need that much monster of a truck since we downsized the RV.  I agree the new Nissan Titan is an interesting weird truck.  My neighbor has a Ram rebel and it's a sweet truck even though it's a dodge....lol. I was always an American truck guy until every one I owned would start having issues the week after the warranty expired.  I'm a toyota guy now mostly for the reliability.  I need no towing power now since we are no longer towing anything. If we ever get back to camping it will be in a MH

I would have done the same thing if I was in your shoes. I had a 2013 Ram 1500 and loved it but needed more suspension for the 35ft TT. We were barely within specs and it was not comfortable towing. The 2500 is much better. If we ever get ride of the camper the truck will probabaly go as well. The  again one day I dream if a nice class a diesel pusher....when I win the lottery or the kids leave the nest.

I had a 97 Ranger that dropped a clutch, blew a head gasket, and bent a shifting fork in the first 12000 miles. I had a 99 Dakota RT that was a blast. Bought it with 71k on it and traded it in in 2013 with 176k miles on the original engine and transmission. However it had 5 sets of tires while I owned it, a new rear end, and was in need of another water pump and heater core when I traded it in. Both trucks were driven hard and they were good for a small truck.

I don't hate any any auto maker they have all made bad automobiles and good automobiles. I personally skipped dodge diesels from mid 07 through 2012. Ford diesels I skipped 08 through 10.  The only reason I have never bought a duramax is I don't like ifs  suspension.  Try a new megacab ram diesel it will surprise you.

Good choice on skipping those years. I still would love to know why GM doesnt do something better with their sloppy and soft suspensions for better towing. Shouldnt have to beef up a 3/4 or 1 ton trucks suspension to tow your average travel trailer or fifth wheel.

Now the water pump replacement on those duramax's......pass. What a pain.

I knew you would chime in on a dodge quote. Don't want to get into a debate about trucks. I just hate dodge like a lot of people hate toyota...all good

They all have pros and cons. I can tell you that new nissan with the cummins in it is interesting. There was one at the fort and I couldnt hear it at all. Looked up the specs and it isnt your typical cummins design. You would not find me buying one. At least the 5.9 and 6.7 cummins has been around for a while and the bugs are fixed or well known.

I would almost buy a 6.0l ford diesel over that new nissan cummins. At least I know it is going to crap out on me. :ROFLMAO-1:

Ok I am a little bit of a chrysler fan. Just a bit but I have still had my fair share of issues with some of their stuff.

Why anti dodge they fixed his truck at no charge, what more can you ask for. And let's be apples to apples if your experience didn't have a Cummins in it then it's not the same.

To be quite honest most of the water pump issue was probably my fault. I live by the motto of dont read the manual until you have to. While it has worked well for me for years, it probably bit me in the rear here. Since this is my first diesel I was unaware of the letting it idle before shutting it off. Apparently the water pump is a weak point if you dont let it idle to let the turbo cool down before shutting it off. And there was 60k miles of just shutting it off. They did find the bearing seal was toast and the bearing was rusted apart and the leading cause of that from my reseach is lack of following directions and letting it idle a while before shutting it off. Regardless they were quick to cover it with the powertrain warranty with no questions asked.

First trip report I have read start to finish with no pictures. Good job.

If I could get tapatalk working there wiuld have beena few good ones. Got pictures of the truck marking its territory, a great picture of my son jumping out of the tube courtesy of photopass, a great pic from rock n roller coaster, and some great wildlife pics from around the fort. The site I foind to post for free doesnt work well from my phone. I may get some posted once I get some time on the computer this weekend.

  12. So gonna finish up the trip report. Our last 2 days were pretty uneventful.

So thursday we got up and decided to give the truck a short drive to make sure everything was good to go for our trip home. We grabbed our swimming gear and took off to typhoon lagoon. We wanted to go to blizzard beach this trip but the truck issues cut 2 days from our plans so we had to cut a water park day.

We had a blast at typhoon lagoon. Spent 3 hours in the lazy river an hour in the wave pool and 2 more hours on water slides. My son decided to be cute at the end of one of them and jumped out of the tube a little early at the end and the disney guys talked to him about it. We scolded him for not listening but for them to do it I wasnt happy. They had heard us already talking to him and they decided to jump in. He is only 7 and he doesnt need everyone trying to talk to him. After that he shut down and was grumpy for a few hours. My wife and I did get some tasty adult beverages from jofferys and that made the day for us.

We went ahead and headed back to the camper and chilled out for the rest of the night. We watched sorcerers apprentice inside because it was to humid and hot outside.

Friday morning we woke up only to realize our suntan lotion didnt work worth a hoot on thursday. The kids worked well but the normal adult stuff didnt work at all. My wife and I were lobsters. We got cleaned up and headed over to epcot. I had a surprise for everyone. I was able to score a last minute reservation at beaches and cream and I was jonesing to try the kitchen sink.

After awuick pass through the land and then figment we headed over to beaches and cream. The food was much better than I thought it was going to be. I had the meatload sandwich, the wife had a sandwich that we cant remember at this point, my son the kids burger, and my daughter the mac and cheese. And when it was gone, we killed a kitchen sink. It was fantastic and something we will always remember.

After we got fat and happy we took off for our test track fastpass. As usual we all enjoyed it and glad we were not waiting to get in.

With our last ride done we headed back to start the dreadful packing to go home. We did a few loads of laundry, cleaned up the camper, and packed up what we could. I took a last minute trip over to the MK to get some of those awesome rice crispy treats (not those crappy prepackaged ones) for the ride home.

We hit the bed at 8 so we could get out of the fort early for the long drive back to ohio. As we bid the fort an and not so awesome trip farewell, we knew we would be back in November. So come November 18 we should be back down for 2 weeks. Hopefully we will bot have truck issues then and we will be with family. We cant wait.

We just upgraded from a 34 foot Class A to a 42 foot 5th wheel. The rub is I made reservations for a full hookup site months before we did this. I have called and made sure the the length of our new one is on the reservation Our total length is 58 feet when hitched so is there a site in full hookup that we will fit in. Also what are the chances we can upgrade to premium.

    When are your reservations for?
